“You MUST stop here!

My husband and I snuck away to Nisswa for an anniversary celebration. The weather was gross (sleet and slush) so we were looking for a nice coffee shop to hunker down to read for a while.
The Courtyard ended up being the perfect spot!

The songbird bagel was delicious (that mustard, WOW) and the iced Miel was to die for. We each ordered a second one for the road!

The service was top notch. The cashier was friendly, and the owner checked on us regularly, striking up a conversation about our weekend away. He even swung around again and gave us 2 cookies for the road - I can’t make this stuff up.

We will absolutely be back :)”

Parking: Shared parking with other businesses but I've seen tour busses and school busses navigate through without incident

Kid-friendliness: Kids meals are a great! Choice of a variety of kids sandwiches, comes with cookie, chips or applesauce. A fountain drink, bottled drink, juice or milk, and there's always a kids activity included.

Wheelchair accessibility: Two separate wheel chair accessible entrances at this plaza.”

“My husband and I went there today. The portion size was massive and the ice cream delicious. When we told him that my husband's name was Glenn, he gave him his ice cream for free. That was awesome. We will be back.”

“Beautiful quaint restaurant with a nice selection of family style meals. Portion sizes can feed 3-6 people. We have the kiddos and 2 of their flatbreads easily fed them all. Loved the atmosphere - it feels like a little escape into some small European city. Bonus they had gluten-free options which is always a hit for me. The family enjoyed our visit as we were just driving through...we weren't staying at the lodge.”

“We may have higher expectations for the food or we didn’t select the best menu items which evidently is the pork chop. At any rate we appreciated being seated by Pat and told what is good and also the history of the building.
I ordered a Cosmo but immediately knew it wouldn’t be great. It was red vs light pink. Oh well?‍♀️
Ordered popovers for the four of us. They were good. Here’s the menu items we had - the flatiron steak (chewy), shrimp scampi but must order angel hair pasta as a side otherwise it comes with nothing, the Pot Pie - very good crust but mostly vegetables and less chicken.
It was a very slow night - only 4 tables of diners. Maybe that impacts the kitchen.
We did appreciated the quiet atmosphere but not the flies that decided to dine on our food while we were eating.”

“Wow oh wow! How do I even start a review about this place! Everything about this place is mind-blowing! I absolutely love this place; the view is just breathtaking! It almost feels like something you'd see in a movie. There are plenty of seating arrangements, including a more private area for people who want to sit outside but be close to the bar. The seating arrangements are both indoors and outdoors. Plenty of tables from looking out to the lake, some longer tables for bigger parties, and also some tables closer to the doors leading inside the actual restaurant to the indoor seating. There are lights that are close to the door hanging around the back of the building to have more of a romantic feeling to it, which in my opinion really enhancing the feeling of the atmosphere. The server we had was caring and sweet! Even slightly talkative! We even saw a groundhog! The music playing in the background wasn't too loud but there was a lot of good songs playing! I had the nachos. Not a disappointment! One of the best nachos I've ever had! I also had the kitty cocktail! Which really hit the spot! All around the atmosphere was 5/5, service 5/5 view 5/5. She server refilled my drink and was very fast and efficient bringing our food out. Told us we can pay the check and linger if we wanted too! Just all around a really good experience! I will be coming back to this place as soon as I'm in the area again!

Wheelchair accessibility: Unfortunately it's not really wheel chair accessibility. There's stairs on both sides of the building leading to the restaurant. Inside the building there's more stairs to go down to it. Multiple ways. But none for the handicapped ?”

“We have been coming to this place every Summer for the past few years. I’m not a waffle person but I absolutely love their dessert waffles! The Turtle Waffle is delicious! Always good customer service.”

“It was my first time there & it's the most spacious coffee shop I've been in. Warm & inviting, plenty of places to enjoy your coffee & pastries. Staff was very helpful & friendly. Their blended coffee was the best! I'll definitely be back.

“My wife and I had dinner with some friends here on a snowy night in January. She had the Cola braised beef short rib, which was excellent, but I think I "won" dinner with the Halibut special-- a portion of halibut over mashed potatoes which were in turn over a mixed-green salad. It sounds a little odd and I was vaguely surprised when our server delivered it, but it turned out to be a good surprise! The salad, fish, and potatoes made every bite flavorful!

A few things stood out to us tonight:
- overall, it was a really positive sit-down experience-- our waiter was attentive, but not too attentive. She made sure our beers and waters were full, but didn't overly interrupt dinner
- we got seated right away and the booth and decor were comfortable and friendly. The "rock cribs" were kind of a fun thing to look at.
- And finally, the food, of course. Everything was tasty and delicious. I can't remember what our friends had, but overall, we'd definitely go back when we're in-town!

We’ve only had dinner once at B*Merri, but our friends have had lunch and dinner multiple times, and we would all go back! Fantastic place in the north woods!”
