“Came here looking for something sweet after going out to eat at a nearby restaurant. They have a selection of chocolate on one side and ice cream on the other. I ordered a chocolate and peanut butter cup malt, but the person behind the counter must have only heard “peanut butter cup” since that was all I tasted in my malt which was rather bland. The employees were really friendly though.”

“Scarlet Kitchen & Bar is located in the St. James Hotel in downtown Red Wing. There is some street parking, but as this was a sub-zero January night with snow on the ground, we drove into the attached parking garage. It is not a straightforward parking garage but labyrinthine, requiring low speeds and care; judging by the scrapes on the ceiling, more people should pay attention to their vehicle height, too! We found a spot and had a very short, cold walk to an elevator. Scarlet Kitchen is on the first floor.My husband arranged this dinner date for the two of us on my birthday. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, making a point of saying "happy birthday." Our server was Anna. She took great care of us the whole time. We ordered some drinks and the cheese curds to start. These curds were fantastic with a perfect hot squeak. The Sturdiwheat batter was delicious. The housemade cranberry dip was a nice change from what other restaurants serve with curds.My husband ordered the steak and fries. I snagged one of his fries--wow, was it good! Strip isn't my husband's favorite cut, but the meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned for his preference. I ordered the salmon, which was served on pearl barley with vegetables. Everything was delicious--a meal that felt indulgent yet healthy at the same time.Because it was my birthday, the dessert was included for free. I had my choice of the chocolate cake, creme brulee, and hummingbird cake, and I went for the chocolate. While we were waiting for that, my husband requested a whisky listed in the menu, but he was soon informed that they were out.So, the cake. Let me tell you, as a passionate home baker, this thing was GOOD. I could tell it was made fresh in-house. The chocolate and cherries were vibrant. Great frosting. Sweet but not overkill. Seriously, people should go here just for cake.Just as I was reaching for my coat, our server Anna returned. The whisky had been found to be in stock after all, and she offered us a serving on the house. Wow. We sat and enjoyed that before braving the cold.This ended up being the perfect birthday dinner. Excellent food and outright stellar customer service. We'll happily dine at Scarlet again.”

“A friendly, hometown Cafe with charm and friendly staff. The staff works together to provide excellent service for the customers. They did run out of things when we were there, but there were plenty of other options.”

“Stopped in for a drink ended up having two and played some pull tabs. bartenders were great. The drink I ordered was perfect and reasonably priced. I don't have anything to complain about. I would recommend this bar if you were in the area looking to have a drink. I don't know about the food cuz we didn't order any food.”

“This is one of our favorite restaurants in town. You get warm chips, cold salsa, and super tasty black bean dip when you're seated at your table. I've had something different from the menu almost every time we've gone and haven't been disappointed yet. They have a selection of vegetarian dishes that are so tasty (especially the quesedilla), and their meat dishes are just as good. Service is always fast, and your food comes out hot and fresh. I'm looking forward to having their house-made cucumber margarita this summer (I highly recommend it).”

“I've been to two weddings at this venue and each has been similar. That's a good thing because the food was great, the service efficient, and the space is beautiful. The layout is functional with the bar in the back, seating in the main area, and the dance floor towards the front mantle. We even got a shuttle back to our hotel at the end of the night. The wedding party kept me up well past my bedtime, so that's 5 stars from me!”

“Fast service, but it kinda seemed like the food wasn't seasoned like a Mexican restaurant would normally be a bit bland but there was salt, pepper and multiple hot sauces to flavor it up on the table.”

“Yep, Mandy's on site and keeping things humming. Classic coffee house vibe, great beverage selection with nearby free parking and Hanisch Bakery across the street for more take-home goodies. Who could ask for anything more?Parking: Street parking is often full but the Studebaker lot half a block away makes the Public Library an additional good stop on your way home.”

“I love the location of this carribou, but the store seems dirty and run down. The food from carribou seems to taste different. Sometimes the food tastes rotten.Kid-friendliness: I love the fact that carribou has kid size drinks! We always get a kids size strawberry banana smoothie.”

“This is such an adorable small town local bakery! It's a popular, busy place! The speciality donuts are so fresh & tasty (we had a cookie dough one with frosting & cookie crumbles & 2 half chocolate chip cookies on top)! Yum! Also purchased a mini mint cake which was fresh & delicious and a package of "bad girl cookies" (little star shaped cookies with a side of frosting for dipping the cookies). The staff were friendly & helpful. I hope this bakery is around for a long time! Worth the stop ?”

“We just moved to Red Wing so this was our first experience with River Sushi and it was good. Tasty and spicy. The rice is incredibly fresh (we made our order in the evening and the rice was still fresh). The atmosphere is old, but this is the outskirts of the state. Still, very clean.”

“My, oh my, i really enjoyed my visit here. First time and everything was superb. I loved the beer and the pizzas.For beer we had — Cokins Bavarian Ale, and Remmler’s Royal Brew. Both beers are well made and quite tasty. The Remmler’s is made following a resurrected recipe from the Remmler’s Brewery, an original brewery of Red Wing.I had an 8” Seoul Food PizzaK-Mama sauce (authentic Korean hot sauce from Minneapolis, MN), mozzarella, chicken, shredded carrots, and celery.And my wife had an 8” Chicken Alfredo PizzaAlfredo sauce, mozzarella, diced chicken, and parsley.These specialty pizzas are $16.95 but they are very good and worth it. The crust is very good — medium-thin, crunchy, and very tasty. The cheese is 100% whole milk mozzarella and the sauces are either tomato sauce or garlic white.I plan to return.”

“Just enjoyed a little trail riding and camping after not having been there for several years. New owners are wonderful people and everyone there was friendly and helpful. Food and service in the bar were excellent. SO nice to have a spot to relax and get some food within walking distance from your camper! These people are great and the place is top notch.”

“Cute place. It was bigger than I had thought. They have darts and a pool table. We went for dinner and everything was great. Our server (Matt) was very nice and attentive. We ordered several items.Duck Wontons: fantastic. The dipping sauce had a little tiny zip to it.Onion Rings: perfect. They were beer battered and not too thick.Kids Cheese Burger with Rosemary Fries: Perfect size for anybody that doesn't want a double patty burger.Chicken Parmasan: Good but had red pepper flakes so it gave you a kick.Havana subbed fries for Onion Rings: Delicious. Perfect meat, cheese, mustard and pickle combination.I can't wait to come back and try other interesting options.”

“We dined at Godfather’s Pizza in The Pottery Place Historic Center in Red Wing, MN for the first time in years. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they serve 12 inch GF pizzas! My son ate his way through the daily pizza lunch buffet! The restaurant was busy with locals (families, area workers on their lunch breaks and passerbys). The employees were kind, efficient and ambitious. The historic charm added to the enjoyment (ie. Informational signage, photographs of the past, brick interior, etc.). Lastly, the nostalgic pinball machine, video games and candy dispensers brought me back to my youth (1980-1990s). “There are two locations in Red Wing, MN--one located in Burnside and one located at downtown at 926 Main St. I really like the downtown location--I prefer to use this particular location instead of the Burnside location because the sandwich artists who work at the downtown location ALWAYS and BY FAR have a cheery and friendly attitude which makes the service they provide truly excellent, and they always get my order expeditiously and precisely done well. I most highly recommend the downtown Red Wing, MN location.Vegetarian options: The vegetables are always perfectly fresh!”

We got the omelette and a California burger, both were excellent and would highly recommend to anyone coming through.Vegetarian options: Although there are no clearly marked vegetarian options, the all-day breakfast is great for anyone not eating meat. I had the Veggie Lovers Omelette which has many mushrooms, peppers, and onions- along with a side of fries.”
