Original Karen Market is a small store with a super nice cashier and attentive cooking crew. They offer fresh veggies, condiments, frozen meats, snacks, and household items. Customers love their ‘boo thee kyaw’ (fried gourd) and other deli items like fried opo squash, fried chicken, and samosa. The food is well-priced and delicious, especially the fried gourd with special peanut hot fish sauce. The store also has a restaurant in the back called Irrawaddy, serving Burmese snacks and breakfast items like Mok Nor-Mai. A hidden gem on the east side that deserves more recognition for its amazing K’nyaw (Karen) food.
