Celebrated our anniversary here with an delicious meal and fantastic service .Starting with the 801 Manhattan, perfectly mixed through to the Bread Pudding dessert, our entire meal was wonderful. Our server, Nicki, was friendly, attentive and helpful, with sought out suggestions on what we might especially like from the many enticing menu items.Chef, Tyler, came to our table to answer our questions about meal preparation and then again to see how we enjoyed our meal (which we very much did!!).The New Bedford Sea Scallops were just amazing. So many flavors all in one dish, all complimenting each other perfectly.

Didn't think they handled a big party well at all, the staff seemed very forced to be there. My fiancés birthday was a big deal and I kind of feel like I shouldn't have came here , but instead gone to 801 Chop House. My group did not feel welcomed if you get my drift, Val was friendly but seemed overwhelmed as she did not have much help for a group of 20. Ashley the manager, I was very disappointed in, she did not ask how was it? If she could do anything? My guest who hasn't been there before walked right past the room as it is some confusion going to the party room from the floor. Right off the back she pointed me in the direction of the room and basically was like good luck. Where I'm getting at is this place wasn't so hospitable. For the amount of money that I spent and the occasion, and the notice that I was having a large party to only have one waiter available, I wish I would've chosen another establishment. Never again, I never once complained , because I'm not the type but I watch body language and I'm very observant and sometime you just have a feeling that you were not welcome. Positive note, Executive chef that night was Awesome! Took pictures and did things he did not have to do after a long days work. Thank you, 3/23.

Let me start off with saying; I don't like fish. I don't eat fish. I have never had anything to do with fish. We had a gift certificate for two years and decided to finally use it. This place did not disappoint! The restaurant is gorgeous, clean. Ask for a booth! Service was top notch. We had the cauliflower appetizer, my husband did order fish and I ordered filet with the potatoes. So so good! The potatoes were a meal alone! Highly recommend!

A great fine dining experience. With a menu with a wide variety and great signature cocktails. Came here right before the symphony. Service is great but not fast so I wouldn't have strict plans after. I definitely recommend the lobster fried rice and Mac which are shareable size plates.

Excellent food and very attentive service. Maybe spent a little too much but I really feel like you pay for quality here. Great atmosphere and an excellent date spot.

Took my grandkids to fancy Friday dinner. Alaskan crab was the perfect meal for growing boys. They loved it. Service is always the best. Little pricey but worth it for a special dinner out. Homemade ice cream always for dessert.

Once a year, my friend and I go to 801 Chop in December as a kind of holiday/end of year tradition. For her birthday, she wanted to try Fish, as did I. For reference, each time we spend ~$600 as it is a special event and we go nuts. The expectation was no different for this visit. In short, we were left disappointed. Synopsis below: -Greeted politely and brought to our booth quickly -Requested a booth, received booth -Waited several minutes to be greeted and provided water, which felt too long. -Person who brought our water didn't introduce herself or speak until the water was poured. Very quietly asked if we wanted to start with something to drink. Highly awkward moment as we dod not know how she related to the whole operation. For of meal of this caliber, nore is to be expected. Poor start. -Ordered split-bottle champagne w oysters. Split fills two glasses full, but at least 10 minutes before the oysters came out, probably longer? At this level, if the diner is staring at the kitchen or otherwise oooking around for food, something has been done wrong. -Oysters arrived without lemon or horseradish. We both have sampled oysters at other high end establishments, and these seem to be staple items. Not a good look when seafood is the signature offering. Oysters were satisfactory, but fell short due to missing items. -Tuna Tartare. Excellent. It and desert were the only items saving from a 1-star review. -Alaskan Crab Legs ($115, for context). Had shelled. Came out in plain white bowl on plain white plate with a brown lemon on side. Cut horribly. Big chunks. Looked awful, and affected taste perception -New Bedford Scallops. Tasted like Lemon and Turmeric. Almost inedible. Flaw in making rather than the recipe? Throughout process, server was distant and uninvolved. Provided drinks as requested, but total words spoke during the whole experience were under 50, and that is a generous assessment. $400, $500 w tip(unearned). Left early, disappointed and unfulfilled.

While food is very good, do not sit at the bar and expect any quality of service from the arrogant bartender. If you are not a regular favorite patron, you will be ignored. When you are finally served, it will come with a sense of arrogance from the very rude bartender who makes it seem like he is put out and clearly doesn't know how to even smile slightly. Gives a bad name to the service industry.

We recently spent 5 days in Las Vegas and 801 Fish could fit right in The Venetian or The Cosmopolitan. The sea food tower is five star and spectacular. Our server was knowledgeable and very attentive. There were four of us and we purposefully ordered different entree's so we could sample and share. Please dine there, you will not be disappointed.

I loathe the idea of ever leaving a negative review. There are always dozens of mitigating circumstances for why a meal can be bad. Half the items that my wife and I ordered for Valentine's Day came out in an unacceptable fashion so I'm going to have to write a negative review. My wife and I were seated in the back of the restaurant for an 8:30 reservation. The hostess didn't tell our server that we had been seated for 10 minutes but that happens sometimes and it's understandable. When our server got notified that we had been seated he brought us our menus and poured us some water. He came back to the table at 8:50 to take our order. Since we saw things were a little busy, we put in our whole order right then. We were not served our first appetizer until 9:10 which was everything bagel seasoning crackers essentially. At 9:20 our server brought out our first actual ordered appetizer which was the tuna tartar. The tuna tatar was absolutely incredible and I would recommend anyone coming here to order it. Our server then let us know that there was an issue in the kitchen and that our crab cake was taking a little longer than it should have. We were served our crab cake at 9:30 which was 1 hour after we had been seated. The crab cake was also phenomenal and incredibly flavorful. I would also recommend that anyone who comes here to order it for themselves. At 9:35 our server brought out our lobster bisque and that is where things started taking a turn. The lobster bisque soup was broken. The soup had a large film of oil on top of it and the consistency of the soup was slightly gritty like it had been kept on a warmer too long or the thickening agent for the bisque had not been emulsified properly. It wasn't terrible but you could tell it wasn't the best quality. The kitchen saff seemingly noticed this and made up for it by including very large lobster chunks in the soup so that was kind of a plus. Our main course finally got brought to our table at 9:55. We didn't get served our dinner until nearly an hour and a half after we had been seated. It's a holiday and that's understandable. The kitchen was obviously busy and backed up and they were seating people at 9:50 which is 10 minutes before they technically close. What wasn't understandable was the quality of the food that came out for our main course. I ordered the Clams & Linguine. My wife ordered the New Bedford Sea Scallops and a side of the Lobster Macaroni & Cheese. All three of the items we ordered for our main course had very clearly and obviously been sitting under the heat lamp in the kitchen for at least 10 to 15 minutes. The baked bread crumb layer on top of the Lobster Macaroni & Cheese had completely dried out and the cheese had clearly broken and dried out as well. The pasta had become dry and slightly crunchy. It's a wonder whether or not the heat lamp had dried out the pasta or if it just wasn't cooked properly. The New Bedford Sea Scallops My wife ordered were three distinct colors. The bottom of them was clearly pan seared as should be. The area slightly above the bottom pan side of the scallops that was pan seared was white as a scallop should be... The top however was a grayish brown and slightly shriveled. The scallops had clearly dried out under the heat lamp and had begun to shrivel. The scallops looked as though they were in the process of becoming cone-shaped. Biting into them they had very different textures due to the heat lamp drying them out. They were visibly wrong and it was apparent eating them how poor the quality was. The Clams & Linguine were wrong in every way. The clams were completely open and incredibly overcooked. Good quality clams do have a slight chewy rubbery texture to them but these clams were like chewing a tire. Several of the clams were also broken so there were shards of shell in the pasta. The entire dish had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp too long, so the top layer of the pasta had obviously begun to brown and dry out. It seems that either th

My visit to 801 Fish left me with mixed feelings. The seafood was undeniably fresh and well-prepared, but given the price, I expected a more exceptional culinary experience. While the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, the decor felt a bit gaudy. Overall, 801 Fish offers a decent dining option for seafood lovers, but there may be better choices at a similar price point for those seeking a truly memorable meal.

Third attempt at 801 Fish. Appetizer shrimp cocktail and lobster bisque very good. Martini's were average. We had the filet with lobster tail. The steaks and asparagus were very good, but the lobster tails were very tough, chewy and crunchy. Hard to imagine what they did to the lobster tails honestly. Definitely not what you expect for a restaurant that claims to be a fish restaurant. The service was also very subpar, lack of attention and slow. The wait staff did not even stop to ask about our food when clearly we left 90% of the lobster tails on the plates. We had a very pleasant time because we were out for the evening and made the best of it, but we decided that we will not be returning the 801 Fish because Clayton, Missouri has many other fine dining restaurants.
