Massa's is the penultimate American Italian cuisine and one of the best in the country! It's cozy with attentive service. The food is more than one can eat. The Carbona and Cajun pasta are world class!Please remember this is American Italian. They're not going to give you olive oil and vinegar and little European delicacies. They're going to give you great food and lots of it.Note, getting there is an experience in itself, this restaurant is a real sudden turn off of a freeway on ramp. You'll probably miss it on your first try!

The bone I bit into took a tasty pasta dish to average. Service: had worse at a Subway once. Atmosphere: tables and seating are tight in a small restaurant, but too dark to see how clean. Has same charm as remember from 25 yr ago.

Massa's (Bridgeton) is EXACTLY the kind of place you want to check out if you're from out of town, which I was when I stopped in. It's not some corporate, stamped out chain restaurant - this place is the O.G. and for food reason. The staff was great, the atmosphere felt like you were having dinner with family and the food - holy geez. Fantastic ravioli. Hands down the best part of my trip.
So where do I start. Let's just say if I could give no stars then this restaurant would get just that.Let's start with we called in a reservation for a big group and they stated they could handle it. Well that wasn't the case at all but we will get to that part. Let's also say this restaurant likes to assume alot of things as well. We arrived to the restaurant only to find our tables that we had already had a RESERVATION for had been given away to a group that they ASSUMED was our group. Keep in mind we had RESERVATONS FOR 5:30pm (Yes we were on time). Due to us not having our tables we ended up waiting to be seated for about an hour. Our kids were pushed into a small corner table waiting for another table that should have been ours to open up to give them room at the table. The adults were left with standing for a period of time until another table opened up that also should have been ours.Once everyone was finally seated in different spots of the restaurant and not seated together as we should have been it got much worse. Now time to order food and it took them another 30mins or so to come and get our orders. They were quick to bring us water and other drinks...well just one glass. Never got any refills. They finally started going around getting everyone's orders from all our different tables. Orders were placed. Out table order some appetizers and once they came out they ASSUMED they went to another table. By this time our kids are hungry after playing a long day of volleyball. After about an hour our food started to come out but again they ASSUMED where food needed to go. All the food did not come out at once and when it did come out not everyone got a side or the correct order. They still have not gotten anyone refills on drinks. It was bad enough that the tables next to us that were not apart of our group even stated this is horrible and don't know how they have a good review. The tables around also had been waiting for a while to eat and they got appetizer before us and we were their before they arrived.So this is already long and I could go on and on but I think you understand what I am saying. We got our checks and of course they can remember to charge you for what you didn't receive at your table but someone else got your order. We paid our check in full but didn't leave a tip as they did not deserve one.It was bad that I was still hungry along with other people in our group that we went to Wendy's to get food and they did not disappoint. I had a better experience at Wendy's then I did at this restaurant. Others may think differently but this was our experience at that restaurant and they stated they could take on a group our size.Let's just say they can't and to stick with smaller groups and next time will look at the size of the restaurant and make a decision.There maybe other restaurant the same size that can do a better job but not going to take that chance. Also it was so bad that the bartender wife was working and she doesn't even work there. We will not be going back and probably not to anymore small restaurant. They are quick to take your money but not quick on anything else and they love to ASSUME .WAIT.....last thing when you try to get their attention and tell them that is the wrong order or to get a refill they act like they don't hear you and walk away.I'm done, I hope you have a better experience as we did not get a good one.Thanks for reading the review.
What an awesome little spot! We came late after a volleyball game, just an hour before closing and they were so great! Food was amazing, service was so friendly after they had been slammed all day! Our server Mary Beth was just so sweet, fun, and friendly!! We definitely recommend this little diamond in the rough! Very small little place, but atmosphere was excellent! Will try to visit anytime we are in STL!

I missed the entrance the first time. It was dark.Wheelchair accessibility: A step in the entrance could pose a problem.
