Zocalo is one of my favorite places to go for happy hour. Located in the Plaza, you can enjoy $5 cocktails, $4 select beer, $12 daily tequila flight, and $6 margaritas & mules. There are 10 appetizer/food options all under $10 each. My favorite is the 3 "mini" tacos for $5.95 (I ordered the Chicken Tinga tacos). I also loveeee to order the Queso Fundido. The chips at Zocalo also have a fun spice/seasoning sprinkled on them.My service at the bar was great! I never had an empty drink. Highly recommend Zocalo for a nice date as well as a happy hour visit with friends!

Seated...waited 20 mins. No server, no water...zero customer service. Left. Never coming back. Too bad. Menu is appetizing, and nice drink selection. Total disappointment.

1 star may be too high. Went today around 4:00 - worst service since we moved to KC three months ago. Made us wanna head back to Chicago. Stood at reception waiting to be noticed for a long time, while servers walked back and forth. Finally we seated ourselves. Server finally, almost incidentally, asked if we wanted something. WTF did she think we were there for? Tacos were tasteless, smothered in cotija cheese, all three tasted alike, like nothing, though they were supposedly three different fillings. No management was visible anywhere - I don’t blame him/her, I would’ve hid too! Rarely have we felt so ignored and unwelcome in a restaurant.

First time at this location during the afternoon on Saturday and though it wasn't busy service started off a bit slow, but then became more consistent. Went back for a second time at 10am on a Sunday and it started picking up around 11. There is a patio with limited seating, I'm not sure if dogs are allowed because we called ahead and someone said yes, then the next time it was something different. Also note, if dogs are allowed it may be tight for larger fur babies. I highly recommend the Cabo salad and a Bellini cocktail. The seating in the back has more shade and breeze, only downfall are there being a lot of flies.

This place was so highly recommended by people that we talked with that we had to give it a try during our visit. We made reservations and arrived right on time...to a host telling the people in front of us without reservations that it would be a 10 minute wait. Unfortunately, when we said we had reservations, he didn't even ask for a name...just said it would be "the same 10 minute wait".After waiting at the bar for 10 minutes to try and order a drink (she said she was the only one working at the bar, so it would be a few minutes)...we were called to our table. It was a very warm evening and all of the doors were left open, so it was warm and a little uncomfortable for the whole meal.I ordered a mezcal Paloma, which was average at best and we ordered chips and salsa as well as chips and guacamole for starters - which were good. I ordered the ceviche for my meal and really enjoyed it...but it was a small portion compared to what I'm used to in Des Moines and elsewhere. While this place is touted and priced as high-end, it didn't meet the threshold of the better Mexican restaurants I've enjoyed. Maybe it was just bad luck and they were extremely understaffed that night, but based on this experience I wouldn't go back again.Food: 4Atmosphere: 3Value: 3Service: 2If you found this review helpful, please click to show your support. ??

My wife and I stopped by this week for a mid-afternoon lunch. Restaurant was very quiet. We were greeted and served by Rose, who was funny and very service oriented. She had good suggestions on the menu and got the bartender to further customize my wife's cocktail. The chips, salsa and guacamole were outstanding. Seafood enchilada and our margaritas were delightful. Check out their distinctive side dish of "terrorized carrots" a funny name with an amazing flavor. Overall a great experience. It's been a long while since we've eaten here and now we'll surely return!

I came here on a Saturday evening with my family. The service was quick and the food and drinks were delicious! One thing I want to note is that the queso fundido is not a skillet full of Oaxaca cheese like I'm used to in Texas, but the queso recipe was still one of the best I've had before. The perfect mix of savory seasoning with a kick texture from the peppers! My dad and I ordered the enchiladas divorciadas and they were amazing! I will definitely return to this restaurant to have that dish again. I've had dreams about those terrorized carrots, they were so good. However, my mom ordered the chicken tortilla soup, and the chicken was really dry. Excited to come back to try the brunch menu and bottomless mimosas!

Chips were hard (and we even paid for it) , food tastes were so-so and we actually came all the way from Overland Park for that. Maybe the management were recovering from a big event the prior day. Drinks were great though!

Stopped for breakfast on vacation and the breakfast burritos were large portioned and delicious. Good spice and flavor. Not crowded on the Saturday morning we stopped by (had a reservation but ended up not needing it). Will definitely stop by again

The margaritas and happy hour great but James is the real star. If I could give six stars, I would. Highly recommend.

We went for happy hour & got an assortment of dishes to share. Food was good & drinks were tasty as well. Service was lacking.

Rose was my server tonight and she was amazing! She took very great care of me and made sure I was satisfied with my drinks and meal. Definitely coming back and asking for her!

This is what the worst guacamole from a restaurant looks like. And don't ask about what they're passing off as a margarita...

We came here for dinner. We had several El Mayor margaritas that were quite tasty and their guacamole as an appetizer. This was also good. I had the pork belly chimichanga that was delicious and quite filling. We were there on a Friday night so they were quite busy but the service was good. I would be happy to return here.
