We came here before a theater visit and did drinks and tapas. All our food was excellent as were the drinks. Our server, Nola, was attentive and friendly. She even made sure some of our late arrivals got their food in time for us to head out and make the show. Only ding was that the seats in the booth we sat in were lumpy, torn and taped. It could use some attention and love.

The swings were interesting. My s/o liked them but wasn't as comfortable with my frame, but it was our choice to sit there. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the jambalaya was good.

The waiter was overworked the food came out one person at the time. The waiter did not tel us what sides came with the meals so he just took it upon himself to bring French fries.I do not eat French fries ask him to please bring me some cold slaw , he never came to the table with it.My Daughter had order crab cakes, and he gave her fish and chips after everyone had already ate.My Son told the waiter that he will not pay for something he did not order, and the waiter responded And I Qout “you do not have to be disrespectful about it”. With this kind of treatment I can eat at home and not spend my money to have a bad time.It was my Sons Birthday and this will be the first and the last time that me or My Family will set a foot in this Establishment. My Son ask for the Manager and was Ignord .very bad service

The second star is for the pleasant and friendly staff person who gave me my take out order. I ordered the Cuban rice and it was tasteless, bland, and had a weird scent. It reminded me of microwavable minute rice. I don’t know what type of Americanized version of Cuban food this is, buts it’s not good. Hopefully they can improve.

Tasty small plates in the heart of downtown Maplewood. Brazil nut Manchego cheese is always a favorite as well as the Jumbalaya, Paella and Cubaniche sandwich.

I went here at 6 pm on a Thursday night. It wasn't busy then, but it definitely did get busy at 7 pm. I sat on the swing seat at the bar and had a chance to chat with the bartender who was friendly and offered some NA cocktail ideas, I went with the NA margarita for $4. It was made with ginger beer instead of tequila. I then ordered the crab empanadas. They come served on a black bean puree, which I don't think goes well smeared on the back of the empanadas. I would have preferred them separate, although it does make for a nice presentation, giving a dark and light contrast. The volcano sauce tastes like a spicy garlic mayo sauce. I think something was wrong with the oil because the breading left a bitter taste in my mouth in some bites. At 7, it was getting busy, and I had to close out at the bar to be transferred to a table. I think they only had 1 server for the whole restaurant that night who also worked the host stand, so I think they were stretched thin. I ordered the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp next, and it was my favorite dish of the night. The saucy broth it's served in tasted savory and sweet. I enjoyed ripping the corn bread and soaking up the sauce with it. For my main, I had the wahoo carribean steak. The sauce was pretty mild and tasted a little sweet. I think that's done intentionally to let the flavor of the fish shine through, which is pretty strong. The rice and vegetables it was served on were filling but don't add much to the flavor profile as the fish was the center of the dish. Overall, I think Boogaloo understands the market they are going for. The plates are priced a little higher than what you would expect, but the execution of the plates is what sells this place. The presentation, quality ingredients, and flavor combinations provide a unique experience that makes the price worth it. If you're trying to eat out on a budget, this isn't the place for you. However, it isn't overly expensive at all. I think it's well done for providing a great dining experience at a fair price. The only thing I think that could be better is that it could have been staffed better. People often had to be greeted by the bartender because the only server was working all of the front of house and running dishes to the tables. It was a Thursday night, after all. Oh, I also ordered an NA margarita at my table, and I was charged $5 this time instead of the original $4. I guess that happens when you ask for something not on the menu.

I had the sweet curry hummus. I would absolutely order this again and again. My friend had the Cuban black bean soup and the mango chicken salad. She said it was also good. Our waitress was excellent. She was attentive, energetic, and friendly.

Reservations likely key, the wait for a walk in was 30+ mins, not bad, but be warned. The building/location not bad loved the eclectic interior. Food hit and miss, drinks mostly good, expect (obviously in the name) is very sweet

In the mood for some Cuban and Boogaloo didn't disappoint. The cocktails were tasty and strong, staff was nice and had great suggestions and the food live up. It has a cool atmosphere so it's a good spot for a date. Keep up the great work!!

I want to like this place as I live super close but, the service is so incredibly bad that it’s next to impossible. I’ve given this place several tries but, they fail me every time.I’ve tried to eat food from here twice but, after ordering I never received my food. Getting a drink here is a quite the task too. It takes just as long to get the drink as it does to drink it. Order two at a time! Some of the bartenders are rude and most are completely clueless. Some of them have the audacity to be both. I’ve had 4 different bartenders there and only one was tolerable.Maybe I’ll try again in a few months there’s no way a staff that bad will be the same then, right?

A great location. The restaurant had a neat layout. I ate at the bar because I wanted to avoid kids. I sat on a swing at the bar. The food was great. The waiter was top notch. I strongly recommend Boogaloo!!

Food looked to have a lot of potential, however, it was not very flavorful at all. For instance, the jerk chicken wings were not very spicy at all, and my sangria was basically tasteless. our food was pretty much lukewarm when it came out, so that was a bummer. The ambience was OK for a bar. our service was pretty slow.
