“Doesn’t seem very flashy but probably my favorite restaurant inside City Foundry. A little pricy but hard to say when they give you so much food. When I go, they seem careful to give a mix of legs, thighs, and gravy. Super tasty flavors and always delicious!“

“This is a basic, clean cafeteria offering a variety of entrees, sides and desserts. The simple food attracts a lot of senior citizens. The daily specials priced at about $10.00 are a good value for entree and a couple of sides; beverage and dessert is additional. Ala carte can get a bit pricey for someone on a fixed income; plan on spending $15.00 for entree and 2 sides, and more if you add beverage and dessert. This business is cash only! I had the beef noodle casserole which was quite bland, coleslaw was very good. My friend really liked the fried cod with a small salad and green beans. I sampled the cod and will order that next time. We both thoroughly enjoyed pie for dessert. Flaky crust...baked custard and mile high lemon meringue. There was plenty of seating and we were able to linger quite awhile to visit with each other.“

Plaza (South) Cafe, Barnes Jewish Hospital Cafeteria • $

“This is on the food delivered to the floors to the patients that some would call the cafeteria food, although they have many kitchens at Barnes and while related may not actually be the same as the food the visitors would receive walking in to the cafeteria.I am on special diets and I found the food to be excellent. I was able to request a green salad with lunch and dinner and greatly appreciate the accommodation that I received. I was on a consistent carbohydrate diet, and it offered me more carbs in the way of breads than I usually choose at home, but that was no problem, I just left those items on the plate. The selections were good and the food warm upon arrival. They do have a limited selection of items that can be substituted for the daily chef specials of the two meal choices that you are given. In all truth, it was nice not having to cook or figure out what to eat for a couple days. Food was fresh and had good flavor though lacking salt, so luckily I could add that to the food when it arrived in my room. While it is true that 'There's no place like home,' I greatly appreciate the efforts of those working in the kitchen to make my stay pleasant and with tempting offerings.“
