We were excited to try the Tavern tonight for the first time. We were a bit underwhelmed. I only got 3 scallops for a $45 entree (even Disney will give you 4 for the same price). Additionally, the fries and baked cookie had a burnt aftertaste from the oven. For $150, we thought it was significantly overpriced for what we got.

This was one of the best restaurant meals I have had in a long time. First, we sat at the bar that views the kitchen. Best decision ever!! Chef Louis made it such a great experience! He explained the dishes, made recommendations, and served amazing food! We had beef shortribs with butternut squash and this amazing cream sauce, shared brussel sprouts, and a filet with mashed potatoes and mushroom sauce. Before the meal we were given complimentary parmesean bread (OMG) and edamame. Our drinks were supberb. This was a great dining experience. Its a "30 to $50 per person meal, plus drinks. But for all the food we had, and the amazing quality, it was money well spent! Thank you Chef!!!! Will recommend to my friends!

First time going here on a Friday night. Got in at 530pm with no reservation. Seated quickly and immediately greeted. The service was prompt and thorough. The bread was such a nice surprise, very tasty. The Wagyu Wontons were superb. Seafood Tagliatelle was so rich and creamy with lots of seafood. The Beef Short Ribs with Butternut Squash ravioli was divine! Wish we had room for dessert. This meal and experience was in my top 10. Can't wait to come back.

Great experience at The Tavern! First time here and it was delightful. The bread is to die for.Crab cakes were a special and they were great.Steak was a bit too peppery for our liking.Salmon was good, but the plate it came on was too small to eat everything together.Cookie dessert was good.Overall good experience and will be back.

The food, service, drinks and ambiance was worth every penny! We had the chicken and burger meals and we couldn’t have been anymore impressed with presentation and flavor; we will most definitely be returning!

This superb restaurant offers the best dining experience in and near Valley Park, Twin Oaks, Manchester, Des Peres, and the unincorporated areas. Or maybe even better than any place in Kirkwood (Citizen Kane's could be tied or slightly better, but is more old school.) Walked in on a cold, blustery evening hoping for a seat and we lucked out. Some last minute cancellations opened up a seat for me and the misses. Normally, we wouldn't walk in without an advance reservation. We were seated in the expanded room open only on Friday and Saturday. I really like this space as it's a bit quieter and easier to converse. Our server, Jonathan, was assisted throughout the night by the assistant manager (didn't catch her name) and some other staff. They were very well staffed and everyone was bustling. Jonathan was a phenomenal server. Probably one of the best servers we have had in a couple years. He was friendly and conversational. He had great recommendations for drinks and food. He was super passionate about the food and even had advice for how to eat it. He was extra extra passionate about the sushi (justifiably so!). The assistant manager (name?) also stopped by a few times and was very professional and friendly. We were in the mood for a "wine bar" type meal, so we stuck with appetizers: What we ate/drank: - Sazerac: (5/5) about as good as it gets with this drink. A favorite of mine. - wine: The white French blend, served by the glass, was really tasty. Montapulciano red was also spot on, as always. - Tavern Sushi (5.5/5) GET THIS!!! Legitimately the best sushi roll I have had in Missouri. Perfectly executed, balanced, fresh and all the right textures. - Beef Tenderloin Skewers: (4.5/5) fork tender and super flavorful. The Aji pepper cream sauce served on the side was nice and spicy. - Arancini: (4.5/5) so, so good!!! - Short Rib Poutine (5/5) GET THIS! The misses doesn't like poutine, but she devoured this one. Rich gravy, tender and tasty short rib and great fries. Oh yeah, we are going back!

We visited The Tavern for the first time recently. My husband and I hadn't heard of it and were surprised since we're both pretty big foodies. We celebrated our engagement anniversary with dinner here and we were impressed! We sat at the Chef's Counter and would highly recommend it. It was so fun to watch everything they were making, have conversations with the kitchen staff, and they let us sample a few items they were batch prepping, they we didn't even order. We'll be getting the bacon fried rice next time! Yum! Our filet and scallops were both excellent and cooked perfectly. They really cared about the details, to having a happy anniversary card waiting for us when we arrived, to champagne and a complimentary dessert. Our service was top notch from everyone we've interacted with. We've been share our great experience at The Tavern with all our foodie friends. Looking forward to our next dinner at The Chef's Counter!

Great food, service, and environment. It's not a cheap meal but we've been here 3 times and always enjoyed the food.

Great food but a bit expensive. I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Kids finished the steaks and grandparents finished their drinks. :)

This is decent food. We ordered an app and two entrees and they tasted great. The portion sizes were extremely small for the price and the service was very slow, but our waitress was very nice. All in all, it was ok and a nice change in pace from our usual spots but I wouldn't hurry back.

Every single time I visit this establishment I’m blown away by every aspect of it. Aside from the food always being superb, the specials are always unique, presentation is out of this world and the food selections are like no other, the atmosphere and service is always above and beyond. From the moment you walk in there is such a welcoming vibe. The bar area is warm, bar seating is a nice L shape with spacious seating as well as multiple tall top tables for dining. The actual dining room is quaint with views in to the food prep area which is actually so neat! Every member of the staff is welcoming, happy, helpful and knowledgable of all the menus offered. 10/10
