“The fact I accidentally found this place baffles me. This place is the best soul food I had in my life. The cafeteria style where you can pick and choose your dishes is awesome. I had the fried chicken with greens and amc and cheese and it was exceptional. I had to try some of the other items and none were bad. Everything was great and definitely cooked with style and care.“
“No real complaints other than they were out of the friend chicken and the mac n cheese was sitting in grease (though freaking delicious!). I got a meat and two sides. The beef tips and rice were a filling and tasty meat. The spiced collard greens were delicious and the cornbread muffin was perfectly crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Sweet tea was so sweet, just like i like it.“
“First time going there and had the pig ear slider one was hot the other was mild. The hot is hot like very hot , but the mild was better but they both were delicious. Also had the tamales and they were good as well. I will most definitely be back.“

Our family each got something different, cheese burger, wings, Philly cheesesteak, loaded spud. Quite literally every single thing was beyond incredible! We come from Memphis so our standards for wings are pretty high and all agreed that their wings were better than Dixie Queen, all day. Thanks for having us, y'all. We more than enjoyed it!!! “I was visiting from Chicago my brother and his wife during spring break and one of my nephews Tracy of Smith Barber College on Hosptial Dr in Jackson, MS took us to lunch, Wednesday, March 27, 2024, to Maxine’s Old Country Kitchen. The quaint restaurant is located on Macon St. Walking through the doors the ambience beckoned us in. We were greeted by beautiful wait staff serving everything you can imagine. Beef tips, smothered liver, hamburger steaks in gravy, turkey necks, baked and fried chicken, green beans, lima beans, black-eyed peas, cabbage, okra, rice and gravy, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, turnip and collard greens, yams, corn muffin, sweet potato pie, cinnamon roll and peach cobbler. I can say the food was ON POINT! Very delicious and I did not add salt or pepper. Seasoned very well. We really enjoyed ourselves and had food to take home for dinner. Also, there was sweet tea, lemonade and kool-aid to drink. I pray GOD continue to bless your business. A hidden gem~“
“I got the catfish dinner. It came with two sides I choose macaroni and fried okra. Both of the sides were pretty good. The fish was nice and hot perfectly seasoned. Nice size portions for your money. The hush puppies were just a ball of fried bread nothing special at all. Cash only and it’s an increased price for farm raised catfish $19 or $16 for imported. Tater sauce is an extra 50 cents but it’s so very delicious.“
