There’s a reason this cute spot has 4.9 stars! I’d give it 10 if i could! The donuts are so fresh , they make them to order and the smell when you walk in … incredible. But the obvious star of the show is their amazing donuts! I recommend the glaze and powdered! Loved the staff and the atmosphere!

With 900+ 5-star reviews already in the books, Hole doesn't really need still another, yet here I am, piling on. Great doughnuts - near perfect mix of slightly crispy outside and airy inside. Friendly, enthusiastic service, and good coffee from a nearby roaster. Kinda cool, too, to see them being made, to order, right on front of you. Nice, non-chainey atmosphere, to boot.

Top tier donuts. Can say I've never had a donut with this texture. Would recommend to anyone. I think it's the #1 donut I've had.

We spent a long weekend in Asheville. We did some breathtaking scenic hikes, dined like kings at fine restaurants, and enjoyed craft beers and exquisite third wave coffee. But what we'll be coming back for, and what will haunt our dreams until then, is the ephemeral joy, the cloud-like culinary delight that is the toasted almond sesame doughnut at Hole. Get the baker's dozen, sample some of each offering, but do not miss out on this glorious, original experience.

Visited 3/27/24. I'm recommending this place to everyone. When we got there a bit after 8 we were seen to right away (though it was starting to pick up when we left) and got our donuts within 6-7 minutes. We loved watching them make the donuts. If you go here as long as you prepare to wait you are good to go. And boy are these donuts worth it. We found ourselves wishing we had split a plain glazed donut afterwards because the glaze was so perfect. Definitely the almond sesame was the resounding favorite between my mom and I. These donuts were fresh, tasty, and almost melted in your mouth as you ate them. Special shout out to Laurie who took our order for her amazing enthusiasm that brought a smile to everyone's faces throughout.

Really cool spot that serves fresh fried donuts. There's not a lot of options and they are really similar. Powdered, glazed, cinnamon sugar and plain. But all of them were good. The place was packed when I went and I had to wait for the donuts to be made, but the setup is nice because you can see everyone making the donuts, when they are done they just hand them off to you. The place is a little cramped and seating is more of a first come first serve. I would recommend calling or ordering ahead to avoid the wait. Donuts were hot, airy, and fluffy. Well worth the wait. Customer service was great.

Their doughnuts are very good; not showy, but solidly good. The prices are fair and the space itself is unique in that you get to watch the doughnuts being made. However, my personal opinion is that it has a bit of a novelty factor that makes it a great place to visit every once in a while (especially when visiting the area on vacation!), but not regularly.Parking: Small parking lot right next to building, but many people were parking across the street and walking over.

dough was incredibly soft with lots of air trapped in the dough, slightly crispy thin exterior. They were incredibly delicious, a bit pricey but hand made and high quality. Very light for a donut, can easily eat more than one. Love. You get to watch them make it in front of

Full disclosure: I'm almost 50 years old and been eating donuts, weekly, almost my entire life. I've eaten donuts at every reputable, semi-reputable, and downright unreputable donut shop in Washington, DC, Chicago, and Rochester, NY, as well as a lot of other spots on my travels around the world. Asheville is known for its food, so for my first visit I am making a point to hit all the donut shops in town. We started on our trip with Hole, and while I don't have anything particularly bad to say, I don't have much on the overly positive side either. That's because of a distinct cultural difference to eating donuts in North Carolina versus any other state: folks here are very happy to wait in line for donuts, then wait for someone to make the donuts in front of them. (It's going to be hard to unlearn 50 years of habits tied to ordering donuts sitting in a window, then getting them and eating them right away.) I love that Hole only makes four types of donuts; less is more, in my opinion. I like the homey nature of the building, right down to the gravel parking lot not quite big enough for the dozens of people we saw at the place on a Sunday morning. Service was friendly and I'm always thankful when a donut shop's prices haven't lost their mind...$3 for a donut including tax is just right for this town. The donuts themselves? Totally fine. We tried the cocoa (a bit too much cocoa, which was kinda shocking), the vanilla glaze, and the cinnamon sugar. My family thought they were tasty, but we all agreed that they were not "doughy enough", a term we actually use all the time in our house when donut shops miss the mark. Too airy is bad when I want to eat a glazed yeast donut. (I'm a California glazed man myself, for the density.) Also, I am fine watching the show of people making donuts, but when I'm hungry, I want to eat. That happens when you wait in line for 15-20 minutes, then wait another 15-20 minutes for the main event. And when you wait a while and don't order enough donuts to feed the family, the prospect of getting back in line to wait is a no-fly zone. But that's a me problem; again, people here seem totally fine waiting, and when I'm on vacation, I'm sorta OK with that too. But Hole's donut flavor profile was OK. If guests were visiting me in Asheville, I was steer them towards Duck Donuts instead...it's just going to fit a wider variety of donut eaters from other places, and that process is a little faster at Duck. Very glad I came to Hole to find out how it was!
