With 900+ 5-star reviews already in the books, Hole doesn't really need still another, yet here I am, piling on. Great doughnuts - near perfect mix of slightly crispy outside and airy inside. Friendly, enthusiastic service, and good coffee from a nearby roaster. Kinda cool, too, to see them being made, to order, right on front of you. Nice, non-chainey atmosphere, to boot.
We spent a long weekend in Asheville. We did some breathtaking scenic hikes, dined like kings at fine restaurants, and enjoyed craft beers and exquisite third wave coffee. But what we'll be coming back for, and what will haunt our dreams until then, is the ephemeral joy, the cloud-like culinary delight that is the toasted almond sesame doughnut at Hole. Get the baker's dozen, sample some of each offering, but do not miss out on this glorious, original experience.
