The waitress was not very attentive. Didn't check on us or bring our dessert that we pre-paid for, we had to go ask another waitress.

Was with a big group of 14 us. Most of them were in wheelchairs which we were able to choose to sit. Most of us sat out on the covered patio and the others sat inside. We all had a wonderful time and enjoyed the quick service. Thanks for the great service!!Wheelchair accessibility: Patio seating was the best area for those in wheelchairs.

Soggiest fries I’ve ever eaten, and the cheddar cheese was as bland as it gets.

We both had a combo tray, ribs and brisket. Ribs were St Louis style, dry rub with a bbq sauce on the side. The basket and ribs were great. The brisket slice could have been ticker, but was juicy. I had okara and collared greens both were excellent. Mac & cheese and baked beans were fair. You ordered when you walked in, sat down at a table and within minutes your food was there. Friendly staff.

Second visit. First time had a yummy chopped pork sandwich and smoked wings. Great flavor and delicious sauces. This visit I had the lunch special sandwich with brisket, chopped pork, bacon and slaw with a BBQ mayo. So delicious.

My fiancé was craving BBQ so we checked the reviews and they all seemed pretty good. I ordered the pulled chicken with fried okra and fries, he ordered the brisket with Mac and cheese as well as loaded fries. My chicken was super juicy, but had absolutely no flavor at all, the fries were dripping with grease and the okra was cold. My fiancés brisket was wayyy over cooked, his Mac and cheese was flavorless. He said the loaded fries were really good, the only reason I’m giving this two stars. The serving sizes were very small considering what we had to pay for this highly overrated cafeteria food, which came out to $52. The sauces were extremely watered down and just plain awful. I would highly recommend going anywhere but here.

Update: Luella's manager reached out to me and promised to fix the food quality problem, so let's see if things improve.Original post: Ordered takeout wings and 1lb bulk brisket. The wings were pretty good. The brisket was DISGUSTING. Photos tell the story. There were 3 pieces in the 1lb. More than half fat. One photo shows the best piece of the 3. The fat from the other 2 pieces is in the second photo. Even the meat (excluding the fat) was grossly veined with fat. I have NEVER had such bad BBQ. Luella's should be embarrassed to sell this. It was $28 plus tax and tip for the brisket and I got less than 1/2 lb. I have been to Luella's many times, starting from when they were in South Asheville 20 years ago. I will never go again.

Mom and Pop kind of place. The food was good. Prices inflated as everywhere else. No waiting to sit, ordered as soon as we came in. A couple of different people checked on us and the food a few times. Potato salad was great, brisket good. My only complaint is that they advertise burnt ends. But what ends up on the plate is cubed meat. Anyone who has ever eaten true burnt ends will be disappointed. Everything else was as expected.
