Been to this restaurant many times. The food is always good and reasonably priced. Cool interior with great artwork on the walls with numerous TVs showing sports. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. They have the best salsa to go with their chips. And I've found my new favorite lunch, ACP with vegetables. Delicious.
I really enjoyed this place! I thought the food was very good and was surprised as reviews (on Yelp) aren't all that impressive. I also thought it was going to be more of a hole in the wall judging from the outside but it's super nice (and big!) inside. Parking was easy, it's located in Carrboro Plaza so plenty of spaces. My husband and I are former restaurant owners. He is a trained chef and I have waited tables in more restaurants than I can count. We also travel to Mexico a lot. Monterrey has been our favorite Mexican restaurant for years because they believe in excellent service, high quality food, and a festive atmosphere. It is is a pleasure to have dinner at Monterrey. It is clearly one of the most well-run restaurants in the area. If I could give it 10 stars, I would.
