“Omg when I tell y’all run don’t walk to Mama Gee’s cause you’re gonna be missing out on some good ole authentic African home cooked meal. I was born in Ghana ?? and the fact that there’s a Ghanaian restaurant in CHARLOTTE makes me soo happy. The food was everything, they will have your food out fresh and hot for you. I always get the Waakaye(my favorite) & also the banku and fish. This is my go-to restaurant. Thank you mama G for this delicious fingers?? ??“

Carolina African Market West African • $

“I want to address the negative comments about the wait and price. Its true if you order on a Saturday they will say it's a 30 min wait and in reality it may be an hr and yes that is annoying especially with not much seating but patience goes a long way. This is not a fast food place or a place with huge staff please come with time to wait.Yes its true a plate here is 20 dollars with no drink and that is a bit steep. But again this is a small business they do not get huge discounts on inventory like a Wal mart and they have to import the ingredients from overseas. This is one of my favorite places and if you come with your expectations managed that this is not an American food chain then I think you will have a good experience. This is the definition of a mom and pop shop owned by hard working people and they make the best west african hot food in Charlotte full stop. No americanized jollof on wheelz mess. There's a reason their egusi soup sells out every single Saturday. Please do not let the negative comments stop you from giving them a try and seeing for yourself. Thanks.“

Alhadji Spicy Suya Food Truck African • $

“I saw this posted on the Instagram page of a local nightclub, Safari Luxe lounge in Charlotte, NC. Since it was Tuesday I decided to try the $5 Taco Tuesday option and also I saw they had 99 cents Suya wings. I've had soya beef two times in the past and it was okay but nothing impressive. The Suya that I had in the past at other places was flavorful but tough.I decided to give this place a try to see what theirs was all about and I'm so glad that I did! The street tacos were Small But Mighty! They were packed to the brim and full of flavor. The Suya beef tacos was so flavorful & tender, I really couldn't believe it! The Suya chicken tacos were flavorful & delicious as well. The Suya wings - they catered to my spice level & placed the spice on the side. I bit into a wing and there was an explosion of flavor in my mouth. i will definiyely be back again to try more of their food. I'm so glad that I found this place. When you will not be disappointed!!!By the way, service was quick!“

“African food has been my favorite for years when I had a friend make it for me homemade. Since I moved south I've been looking for an African restaurant to get some EGUSI SOUP. I stumbled on this place while getting my hair done. I've ordered from here several times and I enjoyed the food. Since I usually prefer my food spicy and it wasn't I still never asked for it to be more spicy and I was fine with it. However I decided to ask for it to be just a little bit more spicy than the regular way and I'm so glad I did. ? Sometimes you just have to ask for a little change. I just want to thank you guys again for my little request. ♥️“
