Amazing staff and food. Hope someone recreates and revamps the spot one day. Such a Charlotte staple!

All I wanted for my birthday was a Trout fish sandwich from Zacks with extra extra tartar sauce. When I kept trying to call and no answer I googled them to make sure I had the number right, and then my eyes saw what I always tried to tell myself I would never see... "Permanently Closed" under the business profile on Google. Me not wanting to believe this, began looking for information to see if this was a cruel joke. All to find out that no, it's no joke. Zacks was gone and I literally began to cry. I always ordered a trout sandwich with extra extra tartar sauce everytime I went to Zacks. Because the tartar sauce was so unbelievably amazing tasting and the most unique obsession worthy condiment I have ever put in my mouth. I always told new comers to Charlotte about Zacks and told them to make sure they try the tartar sauce! For years since first trying Zacks tartar sauce, I have unsuccessfully tried to figure out how to make it, and have never been able to come remotely close. I even tried to trick Elaine one time and tell her I had allergies and needed to know all ingredients before I could eat it, lol! She never did tell me lol! And now to think I will never get the pleasure to make my taste buds explode with my favorite most epic condiment on an equally delicious fresh meaty fish sandwich, makes me feel so sad and helpless. I really don't think I will ever get over this. Zack if you read this, please I beg of you to let me know your recipe for your tartar sauce! I can't go the rest of my life not getting to eat this any longer. I would be forever grateful. Please respond to me if you can and I can give you my email. Please, please, please! Also, I hope you and Elaine a happy retirement and please never forget the impact you've made on mine and so mane others lives. You are both the best!

With sadness I write this review. Charlotte is losing another great staple of the city. Zack's has been a part of my life since I was a little girl. I remember spending summer vacation at the Scaleybark Library across the street and grabbing the Zack's special no mayo, light special sauce with onion rings instead of fries with sweet tea for home (still my go to order til this day). The 2 Hot dog special I shared with my sister or my mom and I sharing the Trout special when she worked at my middle school. Zack's has a dear place in my heart. Their onion rings run deep in my veins you could say. The food is always cooked to order and fresh. The small restaurant seemed so big to me when I was little and now it holds so many memories. I hate to say goodbye but the memories run strong. Zack's Hamburger 4009 South Blvd Charlotte, NC 28209 (Review 549 overall, 93 in 2021)

i'm going to miss this place so much!! i grew up seeing it every day but never got the chance to go inside. finally about 4 months ago i made it in and i was so immediately hooked that i went back 2 days later with my entire family!! they also got hooked at we went almost every week since then, and we even brought more friends. nowhere else in the city (or even the state, i'd wager) will we ever find a burger so huge, so perfectly seasoned (yes, they actually season their beef!!) so consistently perfect, and at such an affordable price!! friends of mine who have been coming to zack's for decades told me that there were weeks when they were extremely low on cash and the zack's special would keep them fed for the day on just $6. i'm so sad to see this landmark go, especially when i'd just gotten to know it. i hope the owners see this review and know just how much they meant to everyone. they should be extremely proud of their contribution to this city. the day it was announced the restaurant would be closing my entire family panicked. tears were shed, and dreams dashed. i'll be giving a final, 21 fry salute to them tomorrow as i, my coworkers, and my entire family mourn such a loss in the charlotte culinary world.

Just read that the restaurant is closing permanently on July 1, 2021. Had been fearing this; good luck to the family owners and staff- have enjoyed eating at Zack's (and especially enjoying its great onion rings) for nearly 30 years.

The simplicity of a cheap hamburger, hot fries and ice cold coke will never fail. When you're not sure what to eat but about to faint if you don't, head over to Zack's Hamburgers. They are an oasis of nostalgia in the midst of over priced Instagram worthy meals. I guarantee your phone won't eat first here. However, after you've had a burger, you'll find yourself pulling back into Zack's Hamburgers the next time you're famished. You'll instantly forget how many calories you're consuming when you bite into Zack's Hamburgers-- you won't regret it. Also please stay open later than 7pm. Sincerely, Someone who craves burgers past 7pm.

A venerable institution in Charlotte. Zack's Hamburgers has withstood the test of time and the covid-19 pandemic. I happened to be in the neighborhood yesterday, trying to purchase a wheelbarrow. I was mighty happy to see that's Zack's was still in business. The hours are different now. Everything is packaged in to go containers...but the most important thing of all, is the food. And that's not changed. Zack's special comes with fries for around 7$. 2 really large beef patties, 2 slices of cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles ,onions, mayo and special sauce. Fries are included as well. There's plenty of outdoor seating available, the umbrellas are already up and open. The parking lot is huge, have a picnic in your car, truck or SUV. The service is still as fast and efficient as ever. You will definitely enjoy the classic's. It's almost like walking back into the 70's. Zack's just exudes that classic vibe. Please continue to support the local businesses that have made Charlotte what it is today, tomorrow and in the future. These local businesses are what gives Charlotte its panache, it's flavor. I've been coming here for years for their hotdogs and hamburgers. Always delicious and quick! If you love old fashioned drive-in style food with a bit of nostalgia, and lots of character you'll be more than satisfied at Zack's.

It has been a while. The very first time, I has their burgers and it was delicious. The second time, I tried their flounder and shrimp platter, and it was okay. I should have stuck with my original plan...the burger. Maybe, the next time.

The best old fashioned burgers in the QC, plus it is very reasonable. Two people can easily eat for 25 dollars and you can eat inside, outside or take it to go. Great place, if you have tried and you like burgers or hotdogs, you simply must.
