Lovely suprise when I first ate here. While shopping at the Gibson Mill Antique mall, was happy to see there was a place to eat right inside. By the looks of it, expected cheap hot dogs with not much else. However...the sandwiches are outstanding, not to mention the soup. My friend was visiting from out of town and couldn't get over how good her soup was. First time there, I had the cuban which was delish. Then had pastrami sandwich on second trip which was equally delish. Next time I go there, it will be just to eat there and not necessarily shop for antiques! That good! Oh and the owner is a perfect example of great customer service. When service at window slows down he visits each table to make sure everyone satisfied. Delightful man who knows how to run a business.

First visit to Ellie's. It is a lunch counter with seating inside the antique mall. We visited on a weekday and it was consistently busy the entire time. The majority of the menu is sandwiches and salads you would expect, but the owner is Venezuelan and has a small section of the menu devoted to authentic dishes. We tried all 3 of them and took his suggestions for the sides and fillings. All three were hot, fresh, well seasoned, presented well and tasty! Not spicy, but very flavorful. Most can be made with your choice of filling- pulled pork is amazing, would strongly suggest it!

After a couple hours of antiquing, my wife and I were a bit hungry and were delighted to find a place to eat inside The Depot at Gibson Mill.My wife ordered an Italian Combo Paninis with a side of Cole slaw. She liked it, a lot; even the side of Cole slaw. A lot of times something like Cole slaw is an afterthought, not here. She said the best she's ever had.I noticed Venezuelan food on the menu and when I saw the flag of Venezuela inside the cook shack, I know I had to try. I ordered Tequeños for us to share. Tequeños are breaded cheese sticks which are fried and served with this amazing dipping sauce. They were excellent!My lunch consisted of Arepas with shredded chicken inside. Wow! Maybe the best thing I have eaten in quite a while. The taste was out of this world. I read somewhere Arepas are the ultimate street food in Venezuela. I'll look for food trucks with Venezuelan food here in the Raleigh area for sure. And make another trek to The Depot - this time with Ellie's Diner on my mind with the antiquing, secondary!

Little strange place in the middle of an antique mall. Nice folks and the sandwich was great. Potato salad is fresh and so os the macaroni salad. We enjoyed out meal very much. thanks

You can spend days in here and still not see everything! Treasures tucked into every nook and cranny. My only wish is that we lived closer to it, or that we would have brought a large trailer. Haha. We ate at the little eatery and it was amazing as well!

Love this place and love the homemade quality of the food. You know what you're eating. Never had anything here that wasn't great and yes the staff is very friendly. This is not your everyday sandwich shop inside an antique mall. All the food is prepared to order, simple and delicious.
