Went scouting for our monthly family lunches. They do good business and patrons seem satisfied with the food. I reserved the 5th star on the food & service for when I actually eat here.

My husband and I drive a hour just to eat here. It's our favorite place to eat BBQ. Food is excellent every time. Service is always great. We had Melissa tonight and she went above and beyond for us. Best waitress we've had anywhere in a long time. Next time we go back, I'll be looking for her. So if you want some great BBQ, chicken or brisket with all the fixing. The smoke pit is definitely your place. The portion are very generous. Go stop in and let Melissa or any of the other servers take care of you. We always leave happy and full.

Me and my children tried smoke pit today. And I would totally recommend this to anyone looking for good bbq in Gastonia.I almost gave up on bbq after trying Ole Carolina Barbecue. But after finding this place. I’m happy again lol. Keep up the good work!

The whole staff was especially friendly and just wow- I'm still dreaming about the food. The brisket was out of this world and they do a great sweet potato casserole. Atmosphere is nothing special but nothing bad. I'd be back for the brisket!!

Enjoy the BEST BBQ and exceptional customer service (our server/bartender Melissa, was absolutely amazing, and she makes a hell of a drink) ?at the smoke pit if you're ever nearby. Brandon(the manager) is the Best! Always has a good joke to tell. ?

I dined at the smoke pit for the first time on Sunday, March 24th, 2024 and was served by Grace. It was truly one of the best restaurant experiences I have had in quite some time. There was a short wait to be sat, which is to be expected at a restaurant for Sunday lunch service. Grace was very helpful with the menu, and a very sweet and attentive waitress. I will absolutely be returning and requesting to be served by Grace.

I have been here 2 different timesThe first time was a weekday for lunch. The service and fast and friendly and the food was soooo good that I could not wait to return with my husband. So, we went for dinner on a Saturday. Sigh. The service was friendly but sooooo slow. It took over 50 minutes for our food to finally come to our table and when it did the brisket was clearly not done enough. Put another way it was obviously pulled from the smoker way to soon. And the greens were bitter. Two very different experiences.

I always get the 7 meat feast. I was on the highway and on a whim decided to get some bbq. I called while already en route and on 20 mins my order was already on the counter. They had a special side : jalapeño cheddar grits and it was absolutely bangin’! This needs to be a regular item. None of the meats did not disappoint. The dry ribs were huge and tender. Our favorite sauces are the ‘Bama sauce and sweet bbq (a little thicker than the regular vinegar based sauces). The turkey was juicy and it always guarantees us a nap right after. For the price, it’s worth it because we make burritos with ALL of the meat leftovers (with scrambled eggs & refried pinto beans sometimes tater tots, too) this place is 10/10 stars EVERYTIME. Hurry up and open up a franchise in fort mill (Baxter area) / rock hill (riverwalk area or downtown)! These cities are growing faster than you can blink. And the 77 is a prime location for travelers! It would literally SMOKE the competition.Kid-friendliness: Great place for kids. Lots of space at the table.Wheelchair accessibility: Disabled parking and wheelchair accessible since building is a one level establishment.

Cameron and Brandon were cool and fun and the restaurant was really nice. I am giving 3 stars because I didn’t see any smoke outside and I didn’t smell the barbecue inside or outside the restaurant. A barbecue place, especially with Smoke and Pit in the name, should have some smoke and the smell of a barbecue pit. The smell will draw in more customers. I also didn't taste a lot of grill or smoked flavor in the food. Using a charcoal/wood grill will add more flavor and smell. The barbecue sauces need major improvement. The taste was ketchup based or mustard based with alot of pepper and did not taste like barbecue sauce.
