Restaurantji's Goldsboro guide: Where to find the ultimate Mexican flavors.
“The whole staff was great. The food was amazing and they have a variety of margaritas! I wish they would open one in smithfield nc! This is a staple to go to if you love good Mexican food.we are here on a conference and decided to look up local places to eat fir dinner today. I highly recommend this place. Also try a shot of their Mexican water!“
“Service was good as always, but for the first time, the food wasn't up to par. The Salsa was like water and tasted more like vegetable soup, couldn't dip chips and get anything on them, just juice. The Beef Encinitas were no flavor at all, just like browned beef with no seasonings at all. Hopefully this was a one time deal, and not permanent, have always had good experience here and will be back, just hope it's better next time.“
“It's the small details that really make a restaurant stand out in your memory. They make returning to the same restaurant over and over an adventure because there is always another small element you have yet to discover. Torero's delivers on all those things you expect at a Mexican restaurant, but sets itself apart with its attention to detail. My first impression of the place was the vibrancy of the decor. Every inch of wall and ceiling space is used to make a tapestry of color and intrigue. One moment I'm admiring a a picture on the wall, the next im learning about the magician and balloon artist that works there every Sunday. Make no mistake though. The magician is not some cobbled together performance, but rather they're the epitome of the attention to detail of this establishment. My next surprise came from the menu. While it had all the mainstays that you would expect at a Mexican restaurant, they also made room for surprises. The most exciting of which is the lamb shanks. Few places like this carry that item, and it is a special treat that they include it.The part of my meal that elevated this restaurant to deserve a review was of course my meal, which was steak fajitas. First, I was delightfully surprised that they used a shredded cheddar instead of a Monterey cheese. I like Monterey quite a bit, but it is omnipresent in most of my experiences with Mexican cuisine so it was fun to get this change of pace. The details that most sparked my interest were the pico de Gallo and the marinade on the steak. You could tell that after plating the pico, they sprinkled a dash of salt and pepper on top. It was hardly noticable, but I noticed. On the steak, you could see large dried pepper pieces on it. My guess is that these were anchos or guajillo and came from a marinade that they use for the steak. You could tell the quality that the marinade imparted to the dish when compared with similar recipes at other establishments. These two details finalized my appreciation for this restaurant.“
“Always great food and good deals, but the MVP for my wife and I is Pablo. He is always attentive, kind, and friendly. My wife is autistic, and he always recognizes us and automatically brings plastic cutlery for her (metal utensils give her sensory issues) and helps her with ordering, which is huge for us. He really makes her feel comfortable and happy, and that makes all the difference. La Paz is a great place to eat, but he is the reason we always return. Thank you Pablo!“
“I work here and let me tell you these tacos are already amazing in their own right, but they get amazing flavor after I rub my balls on them! I start by wiping the tortilla against my balls, then I dip my balls in the meat then rub the taco against my balls again, sometimes I leave a few hairs in there!“
“My experience was great. The lady was so sweet. Their daily specials are really well priced! Not to mention their regular priced items are already really cheap compared to other restaurants! The food was really tasty! We had tacos and enchiladas! We loved everything! Tortillas are homemade too! Nobody ( me ) likes those store bought corn tortillas.“
“My boyfriend and I are new to the area and decided to go here for our date night! And let me tell you that we had an amazing experience. Our food was great and was just what I needed. The owner (or who I thought was the owner) was attentive and extremely helpful with anything we needed. We will definitely be back.“
“It’s super cold today and I was craving some soup. I ordered the chicken soup that wasn’t on the menu but the gentleman said he can make it in 15 minutes. Very delicious and the broth was light and flavorful. I love the papaya in the soup and the garnish was cilantro, onions, and lime. But what put all the flavors together was the spicy red sauce (I apologize I don’t know the names)! Also the customer service was very sweet! Thanks, craving satisfied! Also it came with rice, tortillas and the soup was in a larger container. It’s 3 servings for me.“
“Ate there 2 times around 9 pm both times went through drive threw. The order was wrong both times. Qhen we got to window there was so much noise inside and such kaose. Even the person handing our food to us didnt seem to know if we got the rt food. A manager couldnt have been working for there to be this much noise and playing going on. Will not be eating here again. To many kids and know supervision“
“Came here for a going away. The staff is super helpful for making reservations and getting larger parties the necessary accommodations. Although there was only one waiter, he definitely did everything quickly and correctly. Plus, our chips and salsas were never empty. As far as the food goes, what you see / read on the menu is what you’re going to get. I’ve tried a couple of things over the many times I’ve been to this restaurant and have not been disappointed. Definitely recommend for a work lunch, a date night, or just a casual night out on the town!“
