Absolutely slept on! This unassuming joint in quiet downtown Hickory is really huge! Big in size and flavor. From the outside (and the parking lot) it looks like a hole in the wall. Inside, you'll find floor to ceiling wine racks, rustic chic decor and a very clean area with attentive staff. I could spend a lot of time here and if I was from this area would be talking to the manager about booking my reception here after my upcoming nuptials, it's absolutely gorgeous! But alas... I live 2 hours away. Too bad, because this would be a regular hang out for me. Do they really close at 3 pm every day? Sadly, yes. I asked. (Turns out there is another restaurant upstairs owned by same folks and they're only open for dinner- I see you efficiency). The food was good. Buffet was cheap, filling and had a fresh salsa and soup bar that was worth the trip downtown by my standards. Service was great! (Thank you Jennifer). Only criticism: some folks make their guacamole with lime, I do too, but this one was a little lime heavy for me. You could also taste the lime in the fresh pico, but it was not overpowering. Bonus: there was as much guac and pico as you could eat! I took home the Cubano and Flat Chested sandwiches for dinner. Stay tuned!

Stopped in for lunch after reading all the rave reviews. Buffet was 10.95 and full of DRY food; chicken, fish, spaghetti and meatballs, and some pocket meat that had a sweet dough. Only ONE guy greeting and serving so getting a tea refill was slightly slow. The soups were the only thing worth having seconds, and only 4 dirty spoons left in the spoon bin at soup station. Next time I'll try a menu item but I'm not too excited to return.

Lunch buffet had 4 main dishes & 2 soups. We went at 1:30 so food was a little over cooked & just warm. No side dishes like salad, rice or beans. Drinks & soup in styrofoam which is non recycleable. Buffet was in the. Bar area & soup was in next room. Dining room had a lot of large tables covered with plastic table cloths & was dark with no atmosphere. They have a lot of work to do that would improve this place ie move all food to dining room, skip soup when it’s 90 outside, increase temp on food, ditch the styrofoam, add salad, rice, beans, get fewer smaller tables with condiments & decor, improve lighting. Staff was friendly & helpful. Regular menu had some excellent choices & I suspect they have a good chef. Food was not bad just not up to par for what we had to be called good Cuban food

I haven't had food this good in two years since I left Minneapolis. Heck, I've never written a Yelp review. The buffet rotates daily, and down to the remoulade and garnish, everything felt made from scratch. The pulled pork was out of this world and might put barbecue in this entire state to shame. I don't plan on living in NC long, but might just stay if this place remains. Also check out the cafe next door. Gorgeous decor and menu. Would be a shame if these places don't flourish.

Stopped here for lunch on vaca, looking for some authentic Cuban food. Say no more!!!! Great beer selection, kind and helpful staff, THE NACHOS omg. I got the Barbacoa sandwich - the flavors. Wow. Everything was fresh and came in a timely fashion. This is a Hickory gem!!!
First time here. The food was good. My wife salad didn’t come with everything it stated on the menu but what was there was good. I had the cubana sandwich and it was good. The service was not so good. When we got our food, we had no silverware so we asked the young lady to bring us some. So instead of bringing our silverware she took another order and was chatting with some patrons. About 10 minutes later a gentleman finally brought us some. The young lady was complaining out loud about her job and didn’t want to be there. The place is nice tho. But we won’t come back. Terrible service. Very hard to park too. Very small buffet. Looked like only 4-5 items.

I stopped by today on a whim after a doctor's appointment. Even though I walked in within an hour of closing, they were more than happy to seat me and take my order. I decided to get my order to-go, as I was the only person there, but the waitress assured me I could stay and eat no problem. Got home, dug into my Cubano, and can't wait to return! For a restaurant that's only open for four hours a day on weekdays, I want to be there ALL the time!

The atmosphere was relaxing and nice, the service was excellent, but the food was truly spectacular. I had the Cubano Chicken which is a beautiful mixed green salad with grilled chicken fillets and a citrus vinaigrette. The whole experience was reminiscent of the carribbean.
