This is my favorite restaurant in the Triangle. It used to be named Panciuto and won many awards. The name changed, but the food is still stellar. They have different food every week, but some of my favorites so far have been their fresh pasta made with homemade sausage and the "Yodel" dessert made of cream and chocolate.

With delicious pastries, both savory and sweet, this is great local spot to check out in downtown. Be aware that they don’t have espresso drinks, but their drip coffee was very good. ☕️

This is my favorite pasta. It's always balanced and perfectly cooked no matter the combo (specials rotate), and the baked goods are irresistible. The atmosphere feels spacious and warm at the same time. Staff are super friendly and kind. SO grateful to have this place in town!Vegetarian options: There are solid main items that are vegetarian, the kind that's not just there to appease, but because it makes sense and it's good.Dietary restrictions: Every time I've been there are gluten free items available.Kid-friendliness: Kind and welcoming.

First time at this place to eat. I did like the place THEN aftet paying I noticed the little sign in front of the register that stated " a 20 percent charge will be applied to cover tips for staff". I was NOT told this before paying and the only thing staff did for this 20 percent charge was HAND ME MY FOOD! They never did anything else. I was told to get my own water and silverware. I will never go to this place nor will I recommend anyone go to this place due to them adding 20 PERCENT to everything you buy there for service they DON'T provide!

Hillsborough is a quaint little town. The Bakeshop has special spaghetti nights and I’ve had the pleasure of attending two.In both nights I’ve called ahead to inquire about vegan options as they do not have anything in writing on their website or menu about this. And both times I have been able to attend and order the “vegan pasta.”I have attended with groups of friends who are enjoying their traditional menu offerings and they have all enthusiastically enjoyed their meals with almost all saying it’s the best pasta they’ve had. The vegan pastas I’ve had on the two separate occasions were some of the only meals I’ve considered not eating. They were not bad, however they were lacking in flavor, texture, cravability, and overall enjoyment of the food. It’s been quite a bummer to audibly hear how wonderful the food around me is while I am having a very different experience.I do appreciate the option and ability to accommodate different diners, I do wish the experience was closer to that of their main offerings.Dietary restrictions: They can accommodate vegans, and gluten free friends. The experience may however be quite different in terms of flavor and seasoning.

The place and the food are good. They charge a high service charge but the service is non-existent. One must find one's own cutlery, glass, and napkin and then pick everything up from the table when leaving. A real scam.

The best pasta with alfredo sauce I've had in a long time. Everything here is so fresh - the coffee, the tea, the pastries they made in house and then there's the food. Everything is handmade fresh in store. We had a meatball sandwich and a pasta Alfredo with Lion mushrooms... if you are near Hillsborough do yourself a favor and spend an hour there. Amazing!

For sure the best pasta shop around Durham, but is it the best of NC ? Try it and it may surprise you. This is a very good pasta restaurant, with a limited menu, but done and cooked to perfection. The pasta is made everyday and cooked just a bit more than 'al dente', and for my is the right cooking process. The meat balls are great, seasoned well and with the right spice amount. My pasta carbonara , was perfect, well balanced and much better than several Italians restaurants. Try the garlic knot ! I love garlic, so I'm suspicious to recommend., ?. The service was good and the person who attend our table was very nice ( and so ) . Great experience!

The food is very good, but the service policy is an outrage. There is an automatic 20% charge added to each order so that everyone gets a living wage. For this charge, you stand in line while your order is being filled, take your food to the table, and buss your used dishes to a collection point. Perhaps the owners should consider paying a living wage and leave tipping to the customers.

I hate to give this a a two-star review but I can only relate to my latest experience. I am definitely aware that this is a different vehicle than Pancuito but my wife and I took my Mother for lunch (after bragging about the food quality for years..we went to Pancuito every year on my wife's birthday for @ 5yrs up until Covid). This lunch was about one month ago. My Mom had the Tuna Fish salad that was offered (scoop of tuna fish on bed of lettuce), my Wife had the pork dish that was offered and I chose the Vegetarian Burger. The lunch menu is small and limited but they are transparent about that. All of the dishes were pretty straight-forward in their simplicity; Will comment that my 'veggie burger' was a bit mushy/wet, not at all what I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber (unless I didn't fully understand the transformation) and also that my stomach was upset for almost two days after this meal. I have worked in the 'restaurant kitchen' and understand that there can be "off days" but this was notably unimpressive. Like I said, I know this is a different vehicle than 'Pancuito,' but I definitely expected the same level of food quality. We had been for dinner on many occasions, brought friends to the restaurant, etc...and it has always been one of our favorite places and highlights of our local area. We have not gone for the dinner experience so I cannot speak to that. I also want to emphasize that before this meal, we had only had wonderful experiences at this restaurant. We will try it again, for sure, because of the history we have with this place. Hopefully, it was just an"off day."
