“My Fiancé and I had dinner here celebrating our 10th anniversary this past thursday. We showed up slightly early for our reservation, they took us immediately. Sat us in a private intimate booth towards the back of the dining room. We ordered a bottle of wine (Freakshow). presented perfectly by our server Anna. (hopefully i spelled it correctly) who was amazing! She described the daily features gracefully and gave us time to look over the menu. We ordered the shrimp and grits appetizer. The grits were amazing... local, water ground, silky and seasoned perfectly. The shrimp were cooked proper and super hot. and the brown butter bbq was unlike any traditional bbq..so much better. The Chef came out to meet with us and recommended the Wahoo Oscar feature. Which we ended up ordering along with the 14oz Ribeye. The Wahoo was fresh as could be and cooked perfectly. Tasted like the ocean. Topped with a generous portion of lobster, a beautiful satin bernaise and crispy tempura asparagus, served over wild rice. That dish SLAMMED. The ribeye was charred beautifully and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The mashed potatoes were perfectly seasoned and had a nice hint of sour cream. Management touched our table a few times and made us feel welcomed and well taken care of. Everything was perfect. Right down to the espresso creme brulee with chocolate covered espresso beans. Total experience was 11 out of 10. We can't wait to go back! Thank you for being awesome!”

“Good food, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. My husband and I went on Thursday night for dinner as we have many times in the past. My only complaint was everything was overly salted. We removed the breading from the calamari, his tuna didn't have much flavor only salty. My crabcakes were as good as always! Maybe they should cut back off on the salt, you can always add more at the table.”

“What a blast! 🎯 Took my son and daughter to celebrate his 22nd birthday, and let’s just say—we’re basically axe-throwing pros now (okay… maybe semi-pros 😂). The instructor was awesome—kept us laughing, made sure we didn’t lose any fingers, and kept the drinks flowing. After nailing a few bullseyes (pure luck, I swear), we moved on to pool and darts to keep the fun going. Such a great time all around! Highly recommend! 🙌”

“Cork's our absolute favorite spot to eat in New Bern. Its cozy brick walls, chill atmosphere, and that warm glow just scream "relax with a glass." Food? Straight fire. Service? On point. 5 stars, no question!!!”

“Bestie & I specifically came to New Bern to geocache & I had 2 places in mind for lunch and luckily for us, the other spot was closed. I say luckily because the brisket burger we both had has to be one of the best tasting, and juicy, burgers I've ever had. The truffle fries arrived hot and delectable. What makes this burger special is I do not care for any pink in my burger and most folks will testify it drains all the flavor and juices out of the burger. That was NOT the case here. I requested the 257 sauce be OTS & replaced with mayo. Julie asked if it would be ok if the mayo came out in a ramekin, which I said would be fine. Most times a server won't take that extra time to ask that & Julie got extra points for that. Prior to our burgers I ordered the ham & herb focaccia & it arrived hot, crispy on the outside but soft and pillowy, like lying on an edible down comforter. The vinaigrette that accompanied the bread was a delightful dip, sweet & tart at the same time. To finish our lunch off we had bread pudding. Y'all, if you're ever on the fence about having it after a full meal, get it. The bread was so light it was unexpected. I made sure to leave room for dessert & because the bread was so light, I ate almost my entire half.

The vive here was low key but classy. We were in the side dining room with only a few other diners & it was like being in your own living room.

Julie was one of the best servers ever. Attentive but not hovering. Always there to refill our waters without asking, personable and friendly but respectful and as she handed my card back she pronounced my last name correctly. She gets extra points for that as it doesn't happen often.

All in all, I would come back to New Bern just to dine here. I told my husband it was so good I wanted to return soon for dinner with him or maybe brunch so we can try the breakfast pizza.

“We went to celebrate my son's earning his white belt and had a great time! It was his first time ever seeing hibachi cooked in front of him and he was hesitant. But once the show started he enjoyed every minute of it. Not to mention the delicious food! We all got the filet mignon because it was a special occasion and my kiddo ate every bite off his plate! Definitely a great place to go to celebrate or just to enjoy a delicious meal!”

“Thai Angel has the best Thai food I’ve ever had. I love the cashew with chicken. Their sauces are light and do not overpower the dish. Everything always tastes fresh and is cooked perfectly.”

“Freshwater was a fabulous taproom to hang out for an hour or so while I passed the time waiting to meet up with my friend in downtown. It was a super hot day and their AC was perhaps a little stressed but otherwise, it was quiet, it was comfortable and the wifi worked well.

I enjoyed a very cold pilsner from Nashville and it was perfect. A great little watering hole and as I was heading out, a food truck arrived and was setting up.”

“Came to New Bern for the weekend as a family with my husband, teenager and mother. We’d read reviews and picked Morgan’s for dinner. It was amazing. We had good service (thank you, Mika), the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the wait was less than we anticipated. My salmon dinner was so good- still thinking about it. 😂 My son said one of his favorite trip memories was his hamburger and the fact that the bun wasn’t soggy. Portions were generous; some of us had leftovers. And the croissants were such a sweet starter. Recommend!”

“😔😔Fudge is really good. I was saddened on my visit yesterday because they don’t have fly covers for the fudge or a barrier to keep flies off of the dessert. Staff does not seem concerned or observant of flies sitting on the fudge…For the money you don’t want large blowing flies sitting on your food leaving specks…I was disappointed because after 50 minute drive I didn’t bring back any fudge…The young man that scooped my ice cream had a great demeanor and was very pleasurable to deal with.”

“Super cool little ice cream shop. Ice cream was delicious. Very neat atmosphere on the inside. My kids loved the train that circled around the roof. They also loved all the giant cow decor inside. The manager came around while we ate our ice cream and asked how it was. Definitely recommend for a cozy neat experience in the heart of downtown New Bern.”

“Poppy's is in a great old building, the history of which I know nothing. Decor is quasi Americana-Vintage- Veteran owned perhaps? Food and service were spot on. I had fish and chips and wife had the shrimp basket. House made chips are a must-have. Shrimp are breaded with some house-made secret mojo that was delicious and unique to this place. I've been a coastal seafood diner for 25yrs and this is really good. This will have to be a repeater because their main claim to fame are their burgers and they looked amazing.”

The local art for sale is a plus, and the super friendly staff an absolute bonus. As an out of towner from the northeast (with many Pamlico and Carteret County roots) it was nice to find a brewery not overly commercialized and overrun with people. 99 felt personable and fresh- don’t loose that charm! “Lazy night so ordered takeout from Sumo first timers. Quick turnaround ready as promised upon arrival - there are a few tables inside but looks like it's mostly go biz. I wanted spicy (Chinese) and wife wanted hibachi (Japanese). She had the winning choice as her steak & shrimp was ample, tender and tasty. My Hunan Shrimp was underwhelming - not zippy at all and overload ratio of veg to shrimp seemed almost bland vegetarian. Fortunately the Gyozo steamed pork dumplings appetizer was delightfully sublime and we got a dozen for $7. The value was sound for the volume of the meals.....i just expected more from "Hunan" style in my dish. I'm sure we'll be back and I'll go Szechuan instead.”

“Our bartender Reid was amazing! We went to a couple different bars downtown and tried out old fashions. His was by far the BEST old fashion in town. He even makes his own orange rose ice cubes, we were in AWE at the presentation and taste. He was also very friendly and talked with us while we were there unlike the bartenders at the other bars we were visiting downtown. I don’t know why this bar isn’t talked about more.”

While my Chicken Pad Thai was tasty, it lacked any spicy edge whatsoever and had minimal peanuts and no veg at all. So many ways to assemble pad thai and this wasn't nearly zippy or complete enough for my taste. Not bad, just not my preference. this was our first but will not be our last visit.”

“Ordered takeout for the family from here on Christmas Eve. It was busy (of course it’s a holiday) but food was still ready on time and staff was friendly. It was DELICIOUS. I’m from out of town and it was the best Chinese food I’ve had in a long time. Dishes were filled with tons of fresh veg (nothing frozen or pre-packaged), fried rice was fluffy and packed with big tender chunks of pork. Egg rolls and rangoon were crispy and well-filled. The jalapeño chicken was a standout dish to me, thick slabs of crispy chicken thigh in a savory and peppery sauce. I was seriously impressed. Definitely best Chinese I’ve had in New Bern.”

This is one of the few places that still offers all three!”

“I'm from Chicago and I miss Chicago pizza terribly.
I've lived in MA, CT and now NC and have not found ANY pizza that I could even like, let alone continue to order from.
I just had to say, while it's still not Chicago pizza, this particular restaurant does not disappoint.
When I ask for extra sauce and extra cheese, they give me exactly that! The pizza is very good and I do order on a regular basis.
I've learned to make my own, somewhat comparable to what I grew up on but when I'm feeling lazy, Papa John's on Glenburnie is it!!!

Tiffany charged $3 for toast on my wife’s order, even after we said that my wife would instead just eat the toast which came with my order as I wanted a waffle. Once it was brought to their attention, they still refused to take off the extra $3 charge. These smoke and mirrors tactics to make sales is bad form and poor business practice.”

“I had to give this place five stars all around. The staff that are working in the drive-through are very polite and have good manners. The food was good and they take care of the outside of the store. I didn’t see any trash outside or anything like that. Highly recommend this Taco Bell if you guys got to choose, and the line was long either in the drive-through.”
