Extremely friendly staff and casual, cozy atmosphere. I got the pulled pork platter with mac n cheese and apple bacon slaw.The pulled pork was good, with a generous portion for the price. The mac n cheese was fine but nothing stand-out about it. The apple bacon slaw tasted fresh and delicious--good balance of sweet, tangy, and savory.Lastly, the homemade Eastern NC vinegar sauce is fantastic. Sweet, spicy, and sour. The perfect thing to balance out some savory pulled pork.
This place is a real gem! When my family was driving through the area, this was the only restaurant that was even open. We sure are glad that it was. They have a nice, smallish menu with good variety and a little bit for everybody. They've got a great selection of homemade BBQ sauces. The restaurant is very clean, and it has a great atmosphere. A great experience, fine food, and a crew of very friendly and courteous folks. Definitely recommend that everyone stop by this place of business. Located on Hwy. 181 at milepost 312, right where the Blue ridge Pkwy. crosses over 181.I will definitely stop in when I am in the area. Highly recommend it to everyone else ***** 5 stars
