It’s a dive bar for all the punk rockers of Raleigh. The service is exactly what’s expected for a dive. Not awesome but not horrible. It makes me think of San Francisco a little. They have live music some nights in a tiny stage and a great outside patio area. Don’t roll in here wearing vineyard vines okay, come in ripped jeans and a ramones shirt or flannel.
I was in Raleigh for three days recently and spent two nights at Slims after events. Made me feel like I was at home at some of my favourite places. $3 dollar PBRs, very little judgement, and fast service if you have a band shirt and long hair. ?

I hate using the word “dive” for a bar like Slims. Yes it’s dark. Yes it looks a little run down. No you’re not likely to see too many lawyers in suits and you’re not going to get any craft cocktails here. But what you do get is friendly service with generous pours of quality well liquors at very good prices. And sometimes you get live music in very intimate settings. I’m a fan.
