It's been 30+ years since we have been here as we moved out of state but had the opportunity to revise an old establishment that brought back many good memories. Time has taken its toll on this place, as is evident by the condition of the building, which could use some serious updating/repairs. The waitress was very friendly and the food was great. They still have the teenage burgers that they were known for back in the day and I got BBQ which was very good also.
We drove 35 miles to eat at short sugars. They are the best bbq place around. We haven't been there for 2 yearsWe were looking forward to going. We are so disappointed. The bbq and bun was cold. They fried the onions too hard. They were hard to eat. The tea is not sweet at all. Want be back.

I was very disappointed with my bbq sandwich. The nest was tough and dry very disappointed. I an from out of town and I make this place a must have when I come in town, this time was a bust unfortunately. Maybe next time.

Called and they were open so we made the drive from Danville, as we are from out of state. Ordered the minced plate with slaw, fries and hushpuppies and was really sad that this location did not have pulled chicken so I ordered the grilled chicken with mac n cheese and a kids grilled cheese meal. The fries and hushpuppies were room temperature and would have been good if hot. The chicken tasted like it was from the freezer to an air fryer to warm up and had no taste. The mac n cheese was the best part. Was so disappointed since we aren't in the area often and we actually caught them when they were open.

Sliced Barbeque sandwich was cold considering $5.50 for sandwich,but what really disappointed me being from Rockingham County is the Health Department not doing there job of policing dirty restaurant's and I talked to one of the county health department personnel and had a Dozen excuses as too why they couldn't do there job and I ask her what she was doing in the office at 10:30 am in the morning when she could be inspecting and she got huffy with me.Sign of the times now a days.
