“Came in for an early dinner with my son. We arrived at 4pm. By the time we left there was a wait, and it's obvious why. The food was so good. The wings were delicious, and cooked perfectly. I had the scallops and my son had the cheese steak. Two very different meals and both absolutely incredible. Our waiter was so awesome and attentive as well. Would 100% come back.“
“My husband, baby and I have been coming in every single month after drill since last October 2022. All of the servers are amazing but Siobhan is our favorite by far. There is always a little disappointment when we aren’t in her section. We came in last night and our 1.5 year old was being super fussy and I was clearly flustered. Right before we left I apologized for my crying baby and Siobhan made it a point to tell me the staff remember us coming in when my baby was teeny tiny (we started coming in when she was 3 months old) and that I should never be embarrassed or feel bad about her crying. We chatted a bit and it was such a sweet interaction it really reiterated why she is our favorite and why we will never stop coming here. They also have the best burgers and wings around!“

“A true blue collar bar. It's got that old vibe with wood all over. Great ocean beach decorations. They have a decent sized rear patio for the summer. The kitchen has been really good. It has from scratch homemade items. The drinks are sizeable and of normal price. The service has been fun and friendly. CASH ONLY but has an ATM“
“This place is a total gem of south Jersey. Been here for my birthday and came back for brunch the same week. If you are into seafood and love cozy bars this is the place to go. They have raw oyster bar but also there are a lot of cooked options. Their jersey deviled eggs and crab cakes are to die for but all the other options are pretty amazing as well. That being said, parking and seating might be limited during peak hours.“
“Came here back in 2018-2019 a few times for dine in and takee out, back then the food was a hit or miss but I went again in December 2023 and for St Patricks Day 3/17/24 and the food is on point! I'm impressed! I love all the daily specials I look forward to coming here more often and in the summer too I love the atmosphere by the bar and the caddy area was cool too“

We love Shady Rest for the food(any chicken or fried scallops should always be considered) but for the most part, the dining experience has usually been random, at best. Tonight, we had the pleasure of being seated in Janine's section, and we've never had a finer experience at Shady Rest. Janine was The Best! Everything came out correctly and we never waited for a refill. We will be back soon on a Saturday night to sit in Janine's section.“
“This is an absolute wow restaurant. There is nothing on the menu that's generic and everything has a personal touch to it. I got to meet the owners and they were the most down to earth friendly people. The clams were an excellent appetizer, followed by one of the best medium-rare prime ribs I've ever had. They absolutely nailed it. The rest of my party enjoyed the seafood they ordered. The dry scallops had by others were raved about and the service was top notch. This is a high end seafood restaurant with all the charm of a seaside inn. I absolutely can't wait to go back.“
“We finally thought to give the Lighthouse Tavern a shot after driving past it for years. We ordered takeout and everything was as expected. The biggest winner was the grilled chicken sandwich. The chicken was the star of the show; perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned with a flavor that could have easily stood on its own. The supporting actors -- a high quality roll, excellent honey mustard, and copious amounts of melted cheese -- helped drive it home and make it the best grilled chicken sandwich I've ever had. I never thought I'd be so stoked about a grilled chicken sandwich but I am. I'd love to explore the menu more but it would be tough straying from that excellent sandwich.“
“Easy to book online. From walking in to walking out, everything was wonderful. Hostess greeted us and seated us quickly. Food was served in less than 10 minutes. The waitress did a great job checking back and taking care of us. My mom had the salmon and I had a chicken quesadilla as an appetizer, and a cheesesteak. Both were excellent. The cheesesteak roll was soft and delicious. The the sauce and the cheese steak was perfect, not spicy but just enough zing to let you know it was not an out of the bottle sauce. We will return! Great atmosphere too. Family friendly.“
“Ate twice recently. Both times food was really good. Had a burger on Saturday after parade..cooked perfectly. They had a Prime Rib special on Sunday evening that was very good and a great bargain. This is no longer just pub grub that was marginal at best. The new menu is very different and some really great options. New chef making a difference. Highly recommend.Dietary restrictions: They offer gluten free buns for their hamburgers and have some other gluten free options.“

“My husband and I had dinner here for the first time in the summer of 2023 on a weeknight inside. We decided to give it a try due to the recommendation of our neighbors. I had the Lobster Grilled Cheese sandwich and Lobster Bisque Soup in a bread bowl upon recommendation of our neighbors again. Both items did not disappoint. Both items were super filling and tasty! If you order the soup in a bread bowl, be prepared to share. It becomes like an appetizer with all the soft bread in the bowl. Absolutely delicious. As for the atmosphere, we chose to sit inside. Watching the ocean and the boats at sunset gave it a perfect summerlike feel. We will be back based on our last experience this past summer.“
