This was the weirdest Mexican food I’ve ever eaten. Portions were small and not tasty. I wouldn’t repeat a visit here. The service was on-point, just not friendly. The decor was great.

The place was decorated as you would expect for a Mexican restaurant. The staff were all nice and accommodating, explaining a few pointers as well. The food was spot on, as authentic as I've eaten in Mexico. The portions were large and the prices very fair, especially in 2024. We'll be back.Parking: Easily park in front of or across the street in the free municipal lot.

We love dining at El Mejicano. The food is delicious and quickly prepared. The service, usually by Alberto, is top-notch. It's all reasonably priced, too. Take-out is good, too.Plus, we left our diaper bag there by mistake and they kept it in a closest for a few months until they saw us again. We didn't even realize we had lost it (transitioning away from it anyway), but one day Alberto says "oh hey, you left something here a while ago" and pulled it out of the closet. Alberto had gone away for a bit, so we would have had it returned sooner had we 1. realized we lost it 2. been recognized by the staff we don't usually interact with.Overall, a great family-friendly place.

The chips and salsa were DELICIOUS! This may have been the best salsa I’ve ever had, but be warned, only one round of chips and salsa is free, after that, you will be charged $4.50 for refills.Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. He helped answer all of our questions and make recommendations.The food was tasty, but the shrimp tacos were a little light on the contents.The atmosphere was cozy, however seemed a little dirty and dusty.

I’m tempted to tell people not to come here out of greediness. We don’t want people finding this gem. We’ve eaten here multiple times and the food keeps getting better and better. Why people aren’t lined up out the door is perplexing. Every dish has been excellent; it’s all so fresh and flavorful that we can’t pick a favorite. Service has always been great. We’ll see you there soon!
The food was immaculate, I ordered the fried quesadillas with shredded chicken and no lettuce. I will definitely be returning with some friends, but I do feel like the environment itself could be adjusted, with the music being a little too low for my liking, personally. The service was straightforward, and I enjoyed that aspect about it. Overall, a great experience and worth visiting again.

Great food, very reasonably priced! My friend and I enjoyed a couple meals for under $30 total. I ordered the four taco meal, and my friend got the chicken quesadilla. Both meals came out very quickly, and even though we took our time we were easily done in less than an hour. Had we been in a rush, we could have been done in about 20 or 30 minutes (we arrived at 1:00 which is just after the typical lunch rush).The two page menu is very simple, which helps to expedite lunch choices. I would imagine you can't go wrong with anything on the menu if you like Tex-Mex. The food we got was delicious, and my tacos tasted very fresh. The chips and salsa made for a tasty appetizer, and if you like salsa on the spicier side they have that option as well.I am very happy to have found this place, and plan to go back for dinner with the family sometime soon. Highly recommend!

Saturday night 7/1/23, we experienced dinner that arrived 1 hr after we entered. Waited 15 minutes to get 2 waters when we asked for 3. Served salad with no silverware. Waitress said they ran out of silverware. What????In summary we will never return!

I took my party of 15 to El Mexicano in Denville for my wife's birthday. It was my first time going to the restaurant. The decore is cheeky Mexican and full of various Mexican paraphernalia. They accommodated us into a semi private area off to the side. It was more that spacious to seat all of us.The food was authentic Mexican with great flavors. Me and my party all complemented the food. The chips and salsa were excellent and so good that you're in danger of filling up on just them. The guacamole was delicious and fresh. In all it was a everything you expect from a family owned restaurant... Great food and awesome personal service.I will definitely be going back
