I just discovered that this long standing staple is closing its doors.Riverview East has been a great part of Elmwood Park, New Jersey and I have enjoyed their hot dogs. I shall be sad to see it go.It is always sad to see a part of our memories go and I do wish the ownership and the team there the best.Thank you for some great hot dogs and french fries.

Been eating here for 40 years on and off and their hot dogs were always the best as was the gravy for their fries. Not sure what changed, hope it's just a temporary change in food vendors, but today's lunch was not what I have come to enjoy over the years. The dogs were bigger but the taste was not as good. The gravy was so thick it was spreadable again not the usual. We asked the order to be well done but the fries were soggy (gravy was on the side). Overall I was disappointed and hope this is not the new standard. Before I would rate them ahead of Rutt's Hut and Johnny & Hanges but not today. Gave them 3 stars because it was still OK but not the 5 stars it has always been for me.

How could anyone give this place a good rating? Ordered 2 roast beef sandwiches and a side of mashed potatoes. The place was empty and the order took forever to come by out. Staff let it sit on the counter. The small scoop of mashed potatoes were cold . The roast beef looked grey and was tough. The gravy was disgusting so salty and clumpy. The meat sat on on cut off slice of plain white bread. And too top it all off this disaster cost me $30! This place used to be decent a couple of years ago. Maybe new owners? Never go back there again. P.s they charge 5.00 for a side of cole slaw!!!! Unbelievable!

Thanks to my great uncle Mike, I had the pleasant opportunity to visit River View East. Needless to say, I became obsessed with their chilli hot dogs. This was way back in winter of 2018, and I STILL crave them! The staff was warm and welcoming, the food exceeded any expectations I had. Truly wonderful, can't wait to come back.

Maybe just a hot dog place, but their new menu has great salads. Enough for two meals and nicely priced.

For the food blog and the TikTok videos we hit a lot of hot dog and burger spots that are iconic to the region. This is one of the last ones that we had to hit for North Jersey so it was nice to be able to get out and get that done this past week. I got a burger all the way, hot dog all the way, and fries. The fries were literally right out of the fryer so they were very hot and they were crispy. I like this cut of fry because it can get crispy but also has a good amount of potato so there can still be the hot mushy potato center while being crispy outside. The fries were solid. The all the way dog was very good. The dog was fried and topped with their chili sauce, onion, and mustard. If there was a negative I would say that the roll was just a basic dog roll, but I was very happy with this purchase. So much so, that it made our list of top ten dogs we had in 2022.The all the way burger was also a purchase I was happy about. The burger patty is large and was seasoned and cooked well. I would have liked an option on the temp for the burger since it was such a large patty, but it came cooked well done. Same chili sauce as the hot dog, but it was a good sauce. No spiciness to it (I like spicy) but the flavor was a top ten for sure. Also had the mustard and onion like the hot dog, but I added a bit of ketchup as well and I feel like that really put it over the top for me.Main complaint I would have is that compared to other spots like hot grill, Rutts hut, Johnny and Hanges, etc. it was more expensive. With that said, the burgers were definitely much larger here. Maybe it was an issue of expectation which caused me to feel this way, but you can get the burger all the way for less than half the cost of here. If you're alone and grabbing food that's not an issue, but when you had 3 kids with you, that can add up quickly. All in all, very solid stop and i'm excited we came. River View East - Didn't Suck!

Hadn't been here in 50 years. The atmosphere is just as it was when I was a teenager. Food and service were also the same. The prices are more than reasonable.A group of us had lunch here before attending our 50th Class Réunion.Thank you for remaining the same all these years.I pass through every 3 months and will certainly be stopping in. ❤

First off you need to remove the one cash sign from here. It is no longer a reasonably priced food place. It has become so expensive. I ordered a two hotdogs plane with no bun for a child. They now charge one price for hotdogs. If it's a chili dog or just a plain hotdog it's about $5. That is ridiculous. I got two plain hot dogs a wrap and one French fries. It came out to $30. I have went to this place since I was a little kid and now in my forty's. It used to be packed, now there is nobody ever in there. The menu board has been changed and doesn't seem very professional. I am assuming it has been sold and has new owners and that is why things are getting worse. The women in the front were also not getting along and were saying things that made me and my family very uncomfortable. It was very sad to see this place going downhill as it has been a good childhood memory place. I will not be going back anytime soon as it is used to be a good place to go to get a quick meal for a reasonable price. For what it cost now for a couple of plain hot dogs or a wrap, you can go to an actual nice restaurant and have a good meal. For my 10 year old to eat two hot dogs with no bun and no toppings with French fries and a drink to spend $15 is ridiculous. A kid's meal for $15. You can go to a nice sit down Italian restaurant in town for less and have a real meal.

Never again!! I've been going here occasionally for decades. Not only has the Mgmt/Menu changed, I was also ripped off ($10)!! I ordered cheesesteak (which is actually roast beef) & fries. The hero had barely any meat and too much bread. I paid with a $50, was tired & hungry put my change in my pocket before checking it, only to find I shorted $10!!! I was disgusted with food, as it was but now I'm downright angry. I paid $25 for a nasty sandwich & the place was empty. ?

My husband's favorite place 30 years ago. We loved the chili dogs and hamburgers. Time changes things. The food was good but the flavors we remembered were different and not as amazing. The owner was attentive and courteous. I would still recommend it.Parking: Plenty of parking on a Sunday.

Order was incorrect. Burgers dry and tasteless along with the fries. Not worth the money. Looks like new owners.

Friendly upbeat people ~ yummy quick bites prepared with care and delicious! Everyone is smiling and joking when I am here. Old style building ~ I bet they used to deliver your food on rollerskates! I like the chalkboard/graffitti designs inside.

Really good prices for the food but the taste reflected it. Not bad per say but not amazing. Ordered the chili dogs, a roast beef club and two Cheeseburgers All The Way with fries and reg fries. lemonades and milk shake. Not bad/not good, if you need something cheap to eat and just want to eat, here is your place.
