Everything was delicious! Fresh! The sashimi is always good. Don't have a weird taste to it. The fish quality is very good. Don't feel rushed when I'm in there eating. The atmosphere is good too. Good for gathering with friends and family for all occasions. The owners are very tentative to the customers. The waitress is very good.

What is going on at this restaurant? I had the same issue as Boris.I called, no answer. I go to the restaurant with my girlfriend, there are three open tables, and 4 open chairs at the sushi bar (No one is sitting at the sushi bar), and there no one is waiting in the restaurant or outside. There is a sign that says 60 minute wait. I approach the women at the counter and ask if we can sit at one of the open tables, she says "60 minute wait". I then ask, 'can we sit at the sushi bar'? Rudely she say's "60 minute wait"! I then asked if she could put our name on the list for 7PM (It was 6PM). She said "No list, no reservations"!Now keep in mind, there is no place to wait at this restaurant for 60 minutes (Bar, seating area) and it was 34F and windy so standing outside for an hour was not an option.I have been eating sushi for 35 years and have been in over 100 sushi restaurants in 5 different countries. I have never encountered anything like this before, not even in Manhattan. Lets take it a step further, I have never been in any restaurant in 40 years where I ran into this nonsense. Shame on you Sushi by Kazu, not the way you should treat your neighbors/potential patrons!Lets be clear, I will never go here again, there are too many Sushi joints in Monmouth county to go some place and be treated this rudely; but I would like to know if anyone has been here since the last good review (1 year ago). How did you get in, and was the Sushi worth the attitude from the staff?0 Stars!!!!!!!

We tried to have an early dinner at Sushi by Kazu on Friday around 6PM. I called at least 5 times to see if I can make a reservation or ask if there would be a long wait, but they never answered the phone. So my wife and I went to Sushi by Kazu. The sign on the door outside said "Closed", but the door was open. Once inside, the restaurant looked half empty with many available takes. However, someone came up to us and said it will be a 1.5 hour wait. I said that I tried to call and no one picked up and was told, and I quote "We never answer the phone and we do not take reservations." Of course, we turned around and went elsewhere. But so truly disrespectful to your customers to make people waste their time driving over only to be told it would be a crazy long wait (with available tables in the restaurant!!!) nor bother with taking reservations. The sushi here used to be decent years ago, but we will never be back again due to this complete customer disrespect and awful service. I suggest others stay away as well. Kazu needs to learn a lesson as to what happens when you treat customers this way.

We were pleasantly surprised by how well the sushi and sashimi were. Chief Kazu is very serious about the food he provides. Great to have this high quality Japanese food in New Jersey if you don't mind to wait. Going back today.

The only Japanese restaurant in the area owned and operated by Japanese people! The difference shows in the quality. Everything was very fresh and tasty. The tea was free. Why do I mention that? At all of the other Asian restaurants in this area, they now charge for tea! It adds up. Prices here are slightly higher than other places, but the portions are larger and the quality is outstanding. Wherever you are coming from, it's worth the trip.

I used to work for a sushi and hibachi place for years, so I do not write this lightly. I love this place. The sushi is uniform and has the perfect ratio to rice. The service is friendly and makes you feel welcomed.

Twice we tried this place, both times they said an hour and half even though we called and the lady said 8pm will be fine. That’s not even the issue. So the second time we decide to wait, a party of four was ahead of us that was supposedly getting the vacant table. They were still waiting on one. We asked if we could sit by the bar then, boss lady says the chef doesn’t like people there when its busy cause he doesn’t want to chat. We said we are not the chatty types, still no. Fine. Meanwhile there was a single diner there (one would think a solo diner would be more chatty w chef than a party of four). The party of four ahead of us ends up leaving (friend doesnt show), so we ask the boss lady can we take the vacant table. She then tells us no more rice!!!! Seriously?!? 7:40pm, Saturday night. If we were waiting for an hour and then she says no rice, sorry. I seriously would’ve cursed her out. Regardless that’s got to be the most ridiculous thing ever.In all seriousness, don’t know how they can run a business this way. Karma will eventually catch up. Just need to let people know what to expect, we definitely will never even attempt to patron this place again. ✌️

excellent sushi/sashimi…. and prepared by a japanese chef, which is not easy to find in monmouth county…. it’m just my personal bias butit gives an ‘authentic’ feel…. good lighting…. cook dishes r solid…. byob…. only thing is that u do have to wait a long time for the sushi…. if u r the type to get in and out in an hour or so this may not be ur place…. i’m looking forward to go again…
