So glad Shaun himself stepped out as well as a gentleman who came to pick up his order. We got to ask his opinion of the food. He told us this was his 7th time back so we thought, Let’s give it a try! $58 later, we got 3 meals and WOW! Delicious!!! Everything was so GOOD! Catfish, Yams, Mac n Cheese (and I am VERY picky about Mac n cheese), Honey Garlic Salmon, BBQ wings, rice and gravy and that cornbread!!!! Definitely coming back! I hope this review helps another skeptic not miss out on a GREAT SPOT!!!!! Worth the try! The portions are hearty! So glad we decided to give it a shot!!!“

“This literal "corner coffee shop" is a gem in Jersey City. We found it around the corner from our Air BnB on our second day in the city...and wish we would have found it on day one! The employees were extremely kind and accommodating of our request for plant-based options. They have four or five options for non-dairy bases to coffee drinks and smoothies. We both got the avocado toast (one of us on bread and the other on a bagel) and the food was amazing.

Dietary restrictions: Basic has four or five non-dairy options for their coffee drinks. There also are a couple breakfast sandwiches that can be made without dairy or meat.“

“This place is amazing. The food is great and they treat you like family. The cook knows his customers so well he can tell which order goes with who. It's a family-owned business. The real boss is Mamá. Funniest lady ever. You will end up calling her "Mom" because she really makes you feel at home.“

“Very cozy, local place, yet they have a really good bagel with a non-dairy tofu cream cheese option! He also had some almond milk behind the counter for coffee, if you ask.
If you can't find the entrance, the door is aaaall the way to the right, seemingly past the cafe itself.“

“Excellent experience! I ordered a ham & cheddar cheese omelette with 3 buttermilk pancakes for pickup. It was ready when I arrived, the omelette was bigger than I expected and tasted great. The pancakes were great too. Butter, syrup, and utensils were included in the bag.“
