Pleasantly surprised with my experience at Skinner's Loft. I was searching places for brunch with a friend and stumbled upon this place to try and we weren't disappointed. I got the Pancakes (8/10) and my friend got the Salami, Pepper, and Scrambled Egg sandwich which was 10/10! He let me try it and OMG instant jealousy. I would come back over and over just for that sandwich. We also had a nice waiter who was in control of the music and we were vibing out. I would definitely recommend this spot and can't wait to go back!

First time & definitely not our last time. We went to see Efrat & Brian. Amazing music, as well as the company. The food was good too!

I had whiskey smoked sugar rubbed beef brisket. It was so juicy and very flavorful. The portion is just right and service was excellent too. I made a reservation in advance but looked like it wasn't very packed, may be able to walk in if you are lucky (I went for Saturday dinner).

Spontaneous brunch over the weekend in JC - came across Skinner's Loft on Google Maps actually. Downstairs feels like an old bar, dark wood long bar, little natural light, old-world type of bar. However we were seated upstairs in a beautiful high-ceiling space, brick walls with lots of light, comfy seats, even a working fireplace with a fire in it. Good ambiance. Service was prompt and attentive. I had the eggs Florentine which were done just about right, and my companion had the vegan cauliflower sandwich, which was also enjoyable. Good sized portions and we didn't leave hungry. Coffee and water was refilled - again very attentive service. Apparently they rent out the space for events, so something to keep in mind in JC.

From the outside, this spot looks like a typical bar, but once you enter, you realize it's a renovated 3 story house with delightful decor. We came for brunch and had the delicious muffin basket. Latte was solid and then I also had the salami, pepper, and scrambled egg sandwich. The brunch menu had a lot of great looking options and I'd be interested in returning to try more items.

The food quality and service are exceptional, they also offer a wide variety of drinks and cocktails perfect for brunch. The place has two floors, the second floor gives a home feel, the first floor is where the bar and bathroom are located.

Dining at Skinner's Loft was exceptional. The ambiance was inviting, and the Pork Chop and Smoked Beef Brisket were amazing, bursting with flavor. Jose's service made our visit perfect. Skinner's Loft is a must-visit for its delicious food, inviting atmosphere, and impeccable service.

I got a Caesar salad with salmon and when i went to break apart the salmon, it was completely undercooked. I'm talking the entire inside was raw fish. I asked to send it back and they didn't make me a new plate or give me a new piece of fish. They just heated up the piece i already took apart. Very average.

Skinner's Loft is a cute and classy spot right on Newark Ave in Downtown Jersey City. Food: Food and drinks are great here - You can tell everything is made with quality ingredients and the flavor palettes and textures are well thought out. They definitely craft their dishes here well. Service: Have always received top tier service here - Wait staff is kind, personable, and happy to give recommendations and accommodate. Seating: For weekends, definitely make a reservation - Have had luck with walk ins on weekdays! NOTE - If you need accessible seating, or someone in your group may have trouble with stairs, would reserve and call ahead to see if you could be seated downstairs! They have live jazz upstairs during the week sometimes, which I would definitely recommend checking out!

Not a place for brunch for sure. I ordered a French toast and it looked pretty sad. Most of their food looks like it has been made with store bought sauces. They spent a lot on their ambience and decor, wish they made some effort in making food look good too. Because when you step out for brunch on a Sunday you want to have food that looks fresh and appetizing not something that looks like it’s been pulled out of freezer.

If you're cravingSteak & Eggs this is the place to visit. The steak was cooked perfectly, the eggs were just right, and the home fried potatoes were deliciously seasoned.
