Found ourselves in Madison to run some errands. Before we knew it, it was time for dinner. My wife was in the mood for Japanese and we stumbled upon Takuma and we are happy we did. I had the Chirashi and my wife ordered the Sushi Deluxe. The Sushi was very fresh and well prepared. I was happy to find that they served a bit more obscure selections such as Uni and Saba which is becoming more difficult to find these days. The dining area was pleasant, clean and well designed. The server was friendly and attentive. We will definitely dine a Takuma again soon.

When you want the loveliest proprietors, one being the Sushi chef and the other his sweet wife Eleni then walk in to this great restaurant. I love a special roll with plum paste, burdock root, Shisho leaf, and mountain potato but if I don't tell them in advance I am coming they don't have the potato and we substitute it with avocado. They go out of their way to please and it shows in the quality of the sushi, sashimi and cooked foods.It is a simple decor and inviting.The prices are average to a bit more but we'll worth the cost.The Agedashi Tofu is one of may favorites. The dashi and bonito flakes are so good I drink the broth like soup or order rice to pour it over.Give it a try, I think you will like it hopefully as much as I do or more.

Takuma is definitely better than some of the other options for sushi and Japanese cuisine in Madison, but my dining companion and I walked away after a late dinner at Takuma feeling that our meal and the casual ambiance at Takuma was 'pretty good, but not great' compared to other Japanese or Japanese/Korean restaurants just a short drive down the road (and closer to home) in Morristown.I opted for one of the signature 'American sushi' rolls ($9.50-21) and one of the traditional 'American sushi' rolls ($6-9.50); my dining companion ordered her favorite sashimi platter ($28). Our food was made from fresh, tasty ingredients and served quickly by friendly, personable servers.We'd definitely go back if we were in the area, but wouldn't make a special trip to Madison just for Takuma.

Not the same as it once was. Sushi rolls have shrunk in size! They're like miniature/loosely rolled rolls. Maybe an off night but very disappointed with our last order. $50 worth of rolls barely enough for one person.
One of our all time favorite spots, great sushi, the service is so friendly and their hibachi noodles are addictive. We order them every single time.

Great service! Was warmly welcomed when we walked in. Was immediately given a choice of a few different tables to sit at.The server was gracious and even allowed us to order Tonkatsu for dinner even though it wasn't on the menu (so very nice of them to accommodate us).Food was brought out on time and hot!Looking forward to going back again

Great place to have sushi and Japanese dishes. It’s very quite and nice here. The serves are all nice and patient and they don’t bother you at all during dinner. The place was not too busy on a Monday night. The food is really good and they have quite a few choices. Overall a great place for sushi in Madison.
