“It's been years since I've been here, but between Jay's making lists for top dives in NJ and top beer lists in the country I have been meaning to get back. Prior to going I looked up their beer list on Untappd and was overwhelmed by the beer selection. Unfortunately (but fortunately because it made my beer selection decisions much easier) many of the craft beers listed were sold in cans. The beers on the numbered list on Untappd are the beers available on tap (all other beers listed are in cans or bottles). They still had a nice variety of craft beers on tap and I really enjoyed the few I tried. They seemed a bit pricey though and even the lower ABV beers were served in smaller glasses. We got two seats at the bar around 6:30 on a Friday night. All night people were coming and going and there was nobody really standing around waiting for bar seats for too long. The bartender was nice and he was the only one working when we first arrived but after a bit there were multiple people behind the bar. It definitely felt divey inside. My dad said the bar top was the same bar top from years and years ago when he used to come here when he was my age. We split wings with medium Buffalo sauce and cheesesteak fries. I frequently see Jay's wings mentioned on SJFS and for good reason. They were top notch and I'd come back just for the wings. They might even be at the very top of my wing list (although I'd try a different sauce next time). Incredibly crispy and weren't chewy whatsoever. The cheesesteak fries (cheesesteak served over a bed of waffle fries were also surprisingly good. While at Top Golf earlier in the week our bay host recommended them and advised all the food at Jay's is very good. I wasn't expecting to spend $100+ at a dive bar between two of us but the experience was very good. If I lived a little closer I would definitely be there all the time. Even though the beer list is good I'd probably stick with drinking a domestic draft or bottle the next time I go to avoid spending as much as we did on smaller glasses of craft beer. I will definitely be back and will be looking forward to trying more menu items in the future.“

“LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Whether it's the Hams buckets, the local chatter from the regulars, the awesome bartenders (Bill, Shannon, Gerry, etc), the different pop-up food specials served out of the tiny side window outside, the payphone still in operation, the gambling machines, the jukebox music playing (but NOT while the games are on), etc. I could go on and on. Parking is a bit of a bitch, but that's okay as it's worth it. My husband and I feel like we're at our home away from home when we come here and that's exactly how it should be! CASH ONLY AND ATM AVAILABLE. The Happy Tap is just that, a no-frills bar with a lot of character! #ThankYouThursday to the Happy Tap for making us feel so welcome since we moved to the Philly area!“

Atlantis: The Lost Bar Bar • $
2442 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia - 7.41 miles

“I've been living in the area for 5 years now, and Lost is my absolute favorite spot/go to. The bartenders are all absolute amazing (shoutout Frankie, Jay, Mag, and John), the prices can't be beat, the music is always top notch, the patrons are eclectic and super interesting, and the vibe is different (in the best possible way) depending on what day/time you're there. Jay makes amazing cocktails that incorporate fresh ingredients grown in his garden, and Meg's Bloody Mary is legendary. The music always slaps. One night it could be hip hop bangers from Jay-Z and 50, and the next night they could be spinning deep cuts on Indy/alt vinyls. The pool table is super fun, and some of the most chill/friendly regulars are always happy to get a game. I love this bar. An absolute gem! 10/10“

“It is a house in the middle of a town that has been converted to a bar tavern. Some call it a "dive bar", but I call it the people's bar. Welcomes all walks of live. Staff is friendly, and warns it's patrons with true manners if they step out of line, become to obnoxious, happy or loud otherwise. Not a child's school for book learning, or a place where the urban family should bring their family to dine finely. This is a place where the hero's gather to share their battle winnings and rewards with each other. Veterans, handicap, disabled, stressed people just looking to blow off some steam. If you are a gentlemen, and decide to bring your lady? Keep your woman next to you. I might just show up looking for a good time, if you know what I mean - giggety goo. But it is all good in the neighborhood here, because we do not force ourselves on anyone, threaten or violent. Just a down home friendly place where peaceful people exercise their right to happiness and freedom to talk as they see fit, without need of violence.Vegetarian options: Chef cooks it how you want it, upon request. Make your wish their command.Dietary restrictions: Chef cooks it how you want it, upon request. Lots of great locations to sit that were shady. Fun atmosphere. Order at your table through their QR code which was nice and easy. Drinks came out fast and they had good happy hour prices. Food was a bit pricey and not spectacular or anything but it was good enough. Had corn hole boards and jenga around also.“

“This is a 2 star review. I ordered the wings mild and cooked light because I HATE hard wings. Of course they came out extra crispy. Is it that hard to get this order right?I gave my wings to the guy next to me, paid and left. Also they still smoke inside this bar. Jameson Black Barrel

“It is an infamous ultra popular bar lounge with a local and typically a great dive bar city vibe found in any great city.Only the accents, citywides ie.a type of drink deal and some to a lot of Philadelphia clickyness the city is known for would have you noticing where you are,ie."what city."Cozy low-key Funky atmosphere and although just one pool table, and at least a pinball machine it is made up for by the fairly nice packed crowd of non-toursists and a Huge fenced in back patio with a large enclosed double alcove outdoor roofed lounge before the actual open patios. The booze is also Very reasonable.as is the location with an out of the way feeling though it is but blocks from touristy nightmarish Fishtown, Philadelphia.“

EL Patio Lounge Lounges •
3454 H St, Philadelphia - 7.18 miles

“It'd been a while. This is a wholesome a** place. Cash only, $6 citywides, sports on the TV, pool in the front, patio out back. It's got all the Philly dive s*** you need, yo. Also, great curated playlists with '90s RnB vibes, and $2 hot dogs during Phillies games (and possibly beyond that?). The $2 hot dogs taste about as good as you might think. In other words, great for $2 or less, and meh for more than that. But you didn't need haute cuisine. You needed roller-sauteed meat tube. And you had $2. When in Rome, eat the hot dogs. It's a great value, especially when you account for inflation from the ancient world.“
