I have only been in Andros a few times over the years. I'm not sure why. Maybe the lack of parking. Ended up here for dinner on 12/26 after visiting family, with my husband and 3 sons. The place was empty except for a party in the way back, but that shouldn't reflect on them, it was the day after Christmas.I ordered a Portuguese steak sandwich- thick steak on a Portuguese roll with onions and peppers- and Spanish fries. I am still thinking about that sandwich a week later. The fries were good too. Crispy, the way I like them. One kid had a gyro and the other had a pizza burger. They both really enjoyed their food. My husband had his "test a restaurant dish"- chicken parmesan, but in sandwich form. He liked that the chicken wasn't too thin or chopped up. We all loved the fresh Portuguese rolls, undoubtedly from a nearby bakery. Our service was good. It was a slow evening. We'd go back when we're in the Ironbound again.

Would not recommend. Had to go since it was only available option open 24 hours. The waitstaff is very rude and inattentive. Food does arrive fast but is very overpriced for what you get. The lettuce on the burger tasted like it had been left out on the counter with the stale buns. Never get any of the seafood.

Was staying at an AirBnB in this neighborhood in Newark for a very quick trip home for a reunion, and really needed some late night food. Thank god Andros Diner is open 24 hours and was a nearby option.Since it was already after midnight, I decided to just walk over and order my food to go rather than calling and ordering from their online menu. One thing important to know is that their online presence seems to be years out of date. The menu linked from their website was from 2018, and it doesn't even come close to accurately representing their prices. Actually, the menu photos on Yelp are also crazy old. They really ought to update things. So, this is a family run diner in NJ. If that statement gave you a visual and a feel for what it looks and feels like, you're probably spot on. Booths, a counter, a big menu, clean enough if not spotless, and servers that might or might not be friendly depending on who you talk to and when you catch them. The young woman who took my orders on consecutive late nights was lovely, fwiw.I was looking for NY/NJ comfort food, so I ordered a chicken parmigiana sandwich, which came with a side of fries. The sandwich was a nicely cooked chicken cutlet, properly breaded and fried, served on a torpedo roll. It had just the right amount of mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce to be a little messy when I ate it. The fries were solid. FWIW, the next night I ordered the exact same thing...

Overpriced jail food! Do not come here or you regret it! Kraft cheese on the disco fries?!? Never again

Disgusting food! Dirty tables! Disco fries are Kraft cheese slices melted on the fries with "God knows what" brown sauce! Joke! Jail food! And over priced for the trash they serve. Please go somewhere else! I want to vomit!

My husband and I ate breakfast there. We had eggs, home fries, ham, bacon and toast. Coffee and juice each all for under 30 bucks. Unlimited coffee which was delish and hot. Never had an empty cup as the friendly waitresses kept it full. The eggs were perfectly cooked. The potatoes were fresh not like some diners that use canned potatoes. The bacon was also cooked well and the ham was fresh. Toast nicely toasted. The owner and staff were very friendly and welcoming. The price was great for the large amount of food and unlimited coffee. It has a family atmosphere with kind people working. We have found our new breakfast place when we travel. We HIGHLY recommend this place!

Delicious French Toast with bacon local spot where the owner takes pride in his establishment.

Amazing place! They have the best Long Island iced teas that go down so easily ! The appetizers are really good, I recommend either the pizza fries or the disco fries. The service is amazing too, we had a wonderful waitress! This place was well worth the visit coming here with friends. We were visiting New Jersey for out of state & ended up coming here twice. Will be back again someday!

Absolutely disgusting and completely misleading. I had orderd a blt and a chicken quesadilla.... But has a single strip of soggy grey bacon, about 5 inches of lettuce and an old soggy tomatoe.... Quesadilla was supposed to be blackened chicken and not only was it completely devoid of any seasoning whatsoever it's was severely over cooked and rubbery.... I would avoid the this place at all cost

I have been to this place lots of times and it's pretty good and the food is pretty fast and it's hot and before the move out in 2018 I had lots of fun in here and yesterday I went to this place and I got chicken tenders! can't go wrong with that! times are tough! and old times are good to revist!

My girlfriend and I was driving down ferry st to try something different on the fly. And immediately, we see huge signage that reads Bar and Restaurant right in the front and 24 hours and right below smaller font that says Diner. Food was good but place operated like a diner. Plus definitely has diner look. Waitress was nice but just didn't tell us new guests how to pay the bill. Even the patrons towards the end of the "restaurant" were confused as they were leaving, i would say more than 20 mins wait. We sat and waited and no one asked as follow for the bill once we were done eating. And finally as the waitress was busy with a patron in the front, I had to ask, do we pay upfront and she said, oh yea.

A 24 hour diner tucked away in Newark. Tons of seating, friendly staff and an extensive menu. Typical diner fare, great selection and variety. I'd say their best thing here is dessert - all homemade. The cheesecake is super delicious. They give you a hefty portion and it's always fresh and tasty. The last time I came here I got the appetizer sampler which was good. I also tried a cuban panini and it was such a large portion that I had leftovers for two more meals. This is a great place to rely on for a quick meal at any time of day.

Not only is the diner itself amazing (fantastic food cooked fresh) but the staff are the loveliest bunch you'll ever meet and the service is top. notch. This diner has been in the neighborhood and in the same family for generations and is a community staple in a historic neighborhood - makes my whole week every time I visit! Definitely the best diner in the area, highly recommend

The food was good. The onions and peppers were crunchy. Should have been cooked more. The staff is not friendly. It will be a long time if I ever go there again.
