Went there today for the first time to pick up lunch and i was very pleased. You ask for what you want and you get to have a choice of meat and side. I do wish there were more side choices. Food was very tasty. Would go there again.

First time today, no lie, best rice, beans, plantains and pork I've ever had. Don't understand the negative reviews, the food is anything but bland. The weird smell???? Maybe some people don't know what real food smells like.....

Ordered a wonderful Cuban sandwich from here for lunch. I must admit it was packed with all the goodness of pork, spicy mustard, great pickles and that garlic took it over the top. Perfectly toasted and was satisfied with half for lunch, the other half for dinner. Just AWESOMENESS!!!!!

I had a five hour layover at the airport, and caught the 62 bus and happened upon La Concina. I was warmly welcomed by the patron, and I asked for a little of everything - incl plantains and Cuban lasagna. Wait staff had lovely banter going on, including singing along to the radio. I’d go back regularly if it weren’t 3000 odd miles away. And it was delicious :-)

I ordered the garlic shrimp which was like 15-17 bucks. It was just Tupperware filled with rice with like 7 pieces of shrimp. For almost 20 bucks that’s ridiculous. I’m pissed.

Tried this food at a stand at SHI stadium and it was the best choice. The stew on a cold day was just what I needed. The stew sauce soaked into the rice perfectly. The rice was a nice texture, flavorful and not too soft. The meat fell apart and was not too chewy. I wish I had gotten more carrots and potatoes. The empanadas were stamped with the name of the restaurant which was a nice touch. They pressed each as they were ordered to keep them hot. My friend got the chicken and liked those as well. Service was quick.

Very Clean Bathroom.I really liked the ambience there, it's really a place you would go to make core memories. I ordered salmon and moro rice with a side of mashed potatoes For me the food was a bit too smoky all around, including the broccoli, however I know authenticity when I taste it; this meal was made with love and stuck to cuban tradion and even though it wasn't my favorite, I would still eat there again

The portions are huge, the staff is nice. Perfect place for a Latin American lunch. We're going there regularly with colleagues. The only thing I miss there a bit is more variety of vegetables/salad. But perhaps it's not what customers want... ?

My go to for authentic Cuban food in Newark. The food is absolutely delicious!I always recommend their pernil, pollo a la plancha, pastelon, ropa vieja, and oxtails. I always get the arroz moro with a side of plantains. Their chicken and beef empanadas are just as delicious as the entrees. You won't be disappointed with their food.
