The food was mediocre - the fried chicken was dry and you can get much better ones at Popeyes. The pasta was also basic. It also took forever to get served even thought there weren’t that many customers.

food is good but inconsistent, the wings are realllyyy crispy but super fat so if i wanted them cooked hard, would be hard to achieve. Id try again. they are apparently changing the concept of their restaurant so pop by and see whats what

Love what this restaurant represents in downtown Newark. Top chef in world comes to the city to help change the narrative. He also allows local or other top chefs to host events and show their skills. However foods ok. Not a ton of flavor. Definitely restaurant quality but not aligned with expectations and not up to par with the message. It's not a restaurant that would make me go to newark

Love Marcus Samuelsson but this restaurant was atrocious. We had reservations but waited 20 minutes even though 3/4's of the tables were empty. I used the bathroom and found a broken lock on the door, a garbage can overflowing and no toilet paper in the holder. My wife's chicken was OK. The waffle was great but my hamburger was like a hockey puck and the bacon was raw. The french fries were dripping with grease and inedible. The waiter never checked on us. Other than one bite of hamburger and some waffle I ate nothing. The cocktail was fine but the waiter never came back for a refill. Hoping Gorden Ramsey never stops in he would tear it apart!!

This joint has a Bistro kind of vibe. And would be great for grabbing brunch or lunch.Tried a pizza for takeout and loved it.Didn't get to eat inside yet, but looking forward to doing so soon.Would recommend.

Won't be back. We had reservations and waited 15 min even though several empty clean tables were visible. Hamburger was beyond well done and the bacon on it was nearly raw. They didn't have a piano grigio, a fairly common wine. Restroom needed attention. Service was passable. The waffle was good. All I could think of was- Marcus would be mortified.

I saw some of the negative reviews in advance and was hesitant to show up-- but our friends who were with us and had been here before assured us it would be OK --and it was great-- the menu selection is not large-- 3 of us had grits w/ shrimp and the 4th had the hamburger no complaints -- french fries were great and a side of 4 cheese macaroni also great as was the corn bread appetizer (good for dessert also) -- a lot of alcohol choices- good attentive and swift service by an attractive wait staff-- perfect for pre show meal before nearby NJ Symphony--

I've been here like 6 years ago, menu was different. My bf was looking for a black owned restaurant to do our part two Valentine's Day dinner and I suggested here. Our reservation was for 5:15, it was still empty for a Saturday evening. Four people at the bar so things should move smoothly right? The hostess told us to follow him to our seat, we did only to be told and pointed to where our seat was suppose to be instead of taking us directly to it. Strike 1! My bf ordered iced tea had to return it as it wasn't sweetened and there is no indication that it is or isn't on the menu, returned it for the lemonade. I had the lychee martini, it was weak and underwhelming. Ordered our food and the presentation wasn't it. I had a dark soupy side which I thought was a lot of gravy only to realize it's suppose to be stew peas?? This burger felt like they just slapped it on and sent it on its way, no love in it! The only thing that saved the evening a bit was the Mac and cheese, it was really good! Otherwise it was a blah experience, especially for it not being busy at all you would think everything will be on point. I can only imagine when it's busy. Disappointed, won't be returning anytime soon if at all sadly.

So, my fiancée and I decided to go to Marcus B&P tonight before catching a late show at the NJPAC. Thought we'd have a nice dinner but that was too much to ask for.We got there at 7:40 with a reservation and ordered a single entree and appetizer but we didn't see our food till 9:40. Two whole hours, and that’s after begging the almost imaginary wait staff three times to just check on our order. By then, we were so late for the show, we had to grab our food to go. Didn't even get to enjoy it sitting down. The wait staff wasn't helping either, rude doesn't even start to cover it. You'd think we were bothering them by being there. Completely ruined the energy of the evening. We literally didn’t even get water poured into our cups until we got handed the bill. And the food, when we finally got it, was just alright at best. After waiting for ages, I was expecting something mind-blowing or at least decent. Definitely not worth the wait. I’m just happy we decided on a light dinner because if we ordered more we’d still be waiting there now for our food. And to top all of it off, when my fiancée went to use the bathroom she walked in on a dude just peeing in the sink with the door wide open and everything. Gross.Honestly, the whole night was a letdown. We were really looking forward to it because we’ve heard such great things. look elsewhere

On several occasions, just when my mouth is watering for a dish (that's on the menu), they ran out of the item! So the last time I went, I ordered a cheeseburger to play it safe....."SORRY, WE'RE OUT OF CHEESEBURGERS!"WHAT THE FUNK!!!!!!!Otherwise, I like the vibe and the bartenders!
