Why does it say you’re open? What is the number to order? What is your new location? Why would you allow people to buy groupons if you’re not open? Is this a scam? Drove out to use my Groupon and the number doesn’t work and it looks like it’s some other restaurant now.

Had the honey glazed salmon and shrimp. Tasted as if they poured honey on once it was done. The mac and cheese didn't have flavor, and I was given a plastic fork, no knife, and a real plate. SMH. The fork would not go through the broccoli. I had to pick up the broccoli with my hands. The vibe was cool being that it was a small place. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing??♂️.

The food and staff always consistent!!! Sunday brunch and banana pudding is my fave. I’m very impressed how the service is especially during these difficult times and patience has to be practice however well worth the wait.

We decided to come here for my birthday dinner after every other place we tried was super crowded with long wait times. I definitely was not disappointed. I had smothered chicken with Mac and cheese and collard greens. My husband had the smothered pork chops with spinach and yams. Everything was on point! The cornbread was so good, I'm sitting here waiting on some to go!!

If you are looking for a spot with great music, drinks, and food this is the place to visit! I loved everything about The House of Soul!! Awesome welcoming and hospitable staff...I will definitely visit again when I'm back in NJ. Seriously no complaints at all from me!

This place is a hidden gem! I came here on Wednesday for wine down Wednesday ($3 wines)! Can't beat that. Our bartender Ariele was awesome! Definitely coming back when they have their dj!

Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of my food. To be honest, I really wanted to love this place. It's located right downtown Newark, they have a bar and a dine in area which is great for the community. However, the food was less than enjoyable. I ordered the smothered chicken, Mac and cheese with black eyed peas. I only received a scoop of black eyed peas, the Mac and cheese was not only lacking flavor but it didn't taste fresh. The smothered chicken also lacked gravy, I mean it's supposed to be smothered right? My friend also ordered the whiting, but instead received catfish and we can clearly tell the difference. We really wanted to love this local business, and we're still open to giving them another try. I would recommend that the business owner makes sure they're serving what they have on the menu, and to make sure the quality of the food is better.
