Foods not terrible so I guess they earned the one star. Service? Just awful, run by a bunch of edgelord kids who have no idea how to run a business long term, place is only in business due to the lack of competition. Once Sussex county gets more developed this place is done for. It's inconsistent in their product, they take way too long to make the order which tells me they're unorganized and some of the food is served cold to the customer because of this disorganization. Lastly the price for the amount of product is just a big fat no. I didn't mind much as the food wasn't so amazing that I just was wishing I'd have more but the price should reflect the small amount of food that is served here. I'm not certain about these reviews but if I had to guess it's all about networking and yes these people seem to be good at talking to people. So take these reviews with a grain of salt as most of these people are probably either friends of the owners or otherwise are smitten w the conversation they may have had w the waitress. Anyways I wanted to comment on the "best fried chicken in NJ" yeaaa the breading fell off, the chicken under was not very tender or even prepped well (inedible fat was stuck to it.) They either paid to be on the list for "best chicken in NJ" or they busted their butts making the very best batch for the taste tester for the magazine bc this for damn sure ain't it, chick fil a has better and more consistent fried chicken. If they open one closer this place is gonna be in trouble, maybe they can open an alternative hair salon instead... that's probably more their forte.

March 2019-This place was voted best chicken and waffles. I was planning on moving to Sussex county and decided hey, why not try it out? My mom, sister and I decided to stop in there after the St Patrick’s Day parade in Newton. We walked in there and got seated right away. As we were handed the menus, we informed the hostess we would be ordering for takeout and she said not a problem. She proceeded to take our order. About 10 minutes go by and a party of 3 walks in mind you that there are like 4 other tables open, the hostess asks us to get up from the table and let’s us know that we can wait by the entrance and sit on the couch if we want to and gives our table to the party of 3. We got up and waited and another 10 minutes go by and our order isn’t ready. By this time the party of 3 had got up and walked away. Then another 20 minutes go by and we see a couple of people pick up orders and order on the spot and pick up their orders. So at this point about an hour goes by and we still don’t have our order so I’m sitting here wondering where is my order? I approach the girl that took our order and she said it was taking a little longer and wasn’t sure why but to be more patient. I was really confused at this point because it was way over an hour for 3 orders of chicken and waffles. Finally, I’m guessing she’s the cook/chef in the back comes out and asks me what I’m still doing there and inform her that I’m still waiting for me order and she starts yelling at the hostess behind the counter that my order had been ready about 40 minutes ago and that she effin told her it was our order blah blah blah. I end up paying for my order. It came out to around 40 something dollars. My sister and mom were starving at this point because it’s past lunchtime so they decided to eat on the car ride back home (45 min). They told me that the chicken was tasteless. It was covered in some slimy sugary sauce and waffles were soggy because the order had been sitting there for 40 plus minutes. I threw my food out by the time I got home. A waste of money and nasty food should not be awarded best in Sussex county.

I was so excited, I saw that this was New Jersey's BEST Chicken & Waffles, 1 choice in the whole state and this place got picked.... Yesterday, I drove (after work) 2 hours to bring my daughter (who is a teenagers so if I get anytime with her I am taking it). We were super excited and got there at 7:39, we walked in and were told that they close at 8 pm so we couldn't sit and eat... Okay, I understood, so I said can I order TO GO, the hostess walked into the Kitchen came back and said NO, sorry we close at 8 (mind you it is 20 minutes before closing, not 5 minutes not at closing) and everything is clean.. I was so upset, I said we just drove 2 hours to get here, we can't get anything and she said unfortunately NO. I think this is horrible, the day you are VOTED NEW JERSEYS BEST CHICKEN & WAFFLES and 20 minutes prior to closing you can not get food. They should say that, although we close at 8 all orders MUST be in by 7:30, because if I knew that I would have called and ordered in advance. VERY DISAPPOINTED..

As cliche as it may be, I wish I could give 0 stars. There have been at least 3 times in the past that we've placed to-go orders. Each of those orders took 30+ minutes longer than their latest time estimate. Then came today (Mother's Day). My wife and I are celebrating her first mother's day, so we decided to order lunch. They explained the order would take 60-80 minutes because they're packed. So we went home after church, had a snack, and waited. Once an hour and 15 minutes went by, I drove 15 minutes to pick up the order, figuring it would be ready. When I got in, the girl at the front desk got flustered, realizing she never put the order in. She offered to put the order in and assured me it'd be another 20 minutes. I explained the inconvenience this has been and expected more than an "oops...yeah that was my fault." ...But that's all I got. I asked if there was any discount for having to wait over two hours for my food, and she explained "It was human error...my fault. I can't give you a discount." Hesitantly, I paid because I want to celebrate with my wife and leave this in the past. Then, as she was bringing out the food, I heard her talking about me to her co-workers saying "Yeah, I just told him it was human error." as if it was a point of pride that she didn't offer something for her mistake. This is the straw that broke the camel's back. Horrible service almost every time I've ordered from them, this time being the worst. Shame on me for continuing to give them business all this time. Shame on them for putting profit before customer satisfaction. Unfortunately, their great food doesn't compensate for a complete lack of customer service and many other lacking aspects of their business.

WOW!! Absolutely charming decore and staff! Food is hearty and homey; so delicious!! We're from out of town, and man we wish this cafe was closer to home. Came to town for the shops and left with full bellies from the amazing food. Can't wait to come back some time!
Friendly staff and cute shop! A bit overpriced - got a veggie burger and a spicy chicken sandwich totaling to $21 with no sides. Food was fantastic but I think the price would be more reasonable if there were sides included.

My oh my, their food is excellent. I had the French toast friend chicken and was in heaven. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Staff is great too!

I highly recommend the sticky bird. it's perfectly sweet and has a nice spicy kick to it. It's freshly fried hot and very filling. I tried the nashville bird and it was only okay, it's hotter with a red hot kick. I do NOT recommend the fish tacos or the crab cakes. Both had bang sauce (which is on a lot of the items in the menu) and especially the crab cakes had only initiation crab meat so it really wasn't worth it. I wouldn't order seafood in general next time and stick to the chicken. The service was great and the bathroom is clean. The place is pretty local and quite a distance to drive to but if we were in the area again, we'd probably get the sticky bird again and try the biscuit and gravy over fried chicken.
