“I wasn't going to share this place with anyone because I don't want it to get crowded but I have to bc I love it so much. Presenting my new watering hole in Bergen! The location is where the old 21 used to be, on the top floor of the Son Jjajang building. Great happy hour everyday 4-8!! It's a steal considering how good the food is. Happy hour all types of soju are $8.99 and beers are cheap too. All the big dishes on the happy hour menu are between $14-$18 and I think the portion sizes are the same! I have yet to try something that I don't love on the menu. Their: Cheese buldak (fire chicken w/ mozzarella cheese.. ask for medium spicy if you can't do heat!) Jogae sujebi (Korean version of.. gnocchi? in clam broth..I always order another side of sujebi) Donkatsu (breaded & fried pork cutlet) Tofu & kimchi Ddukbokki (spicy rice cakes... I usually ask for cheese on this also lol) Tong dak (whole fried chicken) Gaeran mari (Korean cheese omlette w/ fried garlic on top) Budae jjigae (Korean army soup, goes great with soju!) and weirdly enough their giant plate of FRIES (idk what they do to those fries they're just fries but they're so good lol) are among some of my favorites. However, the food tends to be on the spicier side which isn't an issue for me, but if you can't handle too much spice be sure to tell your waiter. I can't say enough about how good the food is. The chef apparently refuses to use anything but the best ingredients and it shows in the taste of the food. Portions are big too! Obviously I eat here a lot... lol Oh and the servers and manager are all so nice!! One time we had a big party of 10 but they didn't have space so they put us in their only karaoke room in the back. We wanted to watch the US Open but we couldn't figure out the TV in the room so the manager found an HDMI cable and hooked his own cellphone up to it so we could watch. How sweet?!! At the moment they only serve soju and beer but I have been told that they will start offering liquor soon :) Like I said, I don't want this place to get crowded but they deserve the business with food and service like this. I hope they stick around and become a new staple in Pal Park! PS. The menu is entirely in Korean so bring a friend who is fluent or ask the waiters for suggestions! I will definitely have to mention to them that they should make an English version of their menu. Will be back with pictures later!”
“The malatang here is really good, and the service is great. There are a lot of options to choose from, so it’s easy to customize your bowl. They offer free froyo if you pay cash, and they also include a Yakult regardless of payment method, which is a nice touch. Definitely a place I’d recommend!”
“Whenever I find myself craving a comforting bowl of Yeonpotang (octopus soup), Hansang is my reliable choice for takeout. The service is consistently warm and welcoming. What stands out most about their preparation is the clean, natural flavor profile; it notably avoids the heavy reliance on artificial seasonings that you sometimes find in restaurant soups, leaving you feeling nourished rather than weighed down.
While I have noticed the dining room is a bit quieter on weekdays compared to the past, the quality of the kitchen remains steadfast. Their Yeonpotang is exceptional. The broth carries a delicate, slightly spicy kick, perfectly balanced by the natural, refreshing sweetness of squash and napa cabbage. The octopus itself is remarkably fresh and tender, truly serving as the centerpiece of the dish.
I highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a genuine, comforting meal. Their octopus soup is a prime example of the clean, restorative qualities of traditional Korean cuisine here in New Jersey.”

“By far my fave kbbq spot. The meats are high quality and the servers are always very friendly. Their marinated short ribs and house special spicy pork are my absolute faves. Love how the charcoal flavor gets into the meat. Their mool nengmyun (buckwheat noodles in a cold broth) compliments their bbq meats really well, and their broth is the real deal. The Korean-style beef tartare (over seasoned sushi rice) is phenomenal and my must-eat every time I go.”
“Amazing Korean buffet-style shabu shabu! The veggie and side selections are extensive with tons of fresh options, and the meat choices are plentiful and high quality. Portions are very generous, the staff is super welcoming, and the prices are extremely reasonable for what you get. Highly recommend this place if you’re craving shabu shabu, it’s very close to the experience of eating it in South Korea. Will definitely be back! 🍲🔥”

“This was my first time visiting a naengmyeon place since coming to the U.S., and it was absolutely worth it.
Both the Mul Naengmyeon and the Bibim Naengmyeon were delicious, and the Buchu Jeon was especially amazing.
The setup is pretty straightforward.
You order at the counter, find your own seat, pick up your food when it is ready, and return everything yourself afterward. Since it is self-service, there was no separate tip expected. Even so, everyone was very kind, and I also loved that hot broth was available for self-service.
After living in Boston, where it can be hard to find really good Korean food, I was so happy to finally have such a satisfying meal.”
“The best kalguksu in NJ hands down. The broths have depth, the noodles have the perfect thickness and chew, and don't forget you need the perfect kimchi when having kalguksu. IYKYK.... This place has it all.
Don't know who this halmae is with these cooking skills, but she sure as hell made me miss mine while having dinner here the other night. Thank you for the nostalgic flavors!”

“The request was find the best pizza near our hotel. After comparing some reviews we headed to Urban Tomato. It’s in a neighborhood setting across from a church. The restaurant decor is simple but comfortable with a great hosts. We never felt cramped. The boys enjoyed a chicken pizza half garlic and half bbq drizzle and my wife and I enjoyed a fungi white pizza that was out of this world. I continue to say this, if g-d had given Jersey the water, their pizza would be king.”
“i wenr to the city for a pickup and decided to get lunch here. i had my newborn in the back, i kindly asked for someone to come out and give me the lunch since i couldn’t leave my car. the nice man came out and gave me my order. came out and enjoyed my lunch. i had the crispy tuna, it was so good!!! thanks much.”
“I went there by myself and order the grilled mackerel and seafood tofu soup combo. Everything tasted great. The seafood tofu soup was flavorful and not too spicy. I love the side dishes too. I wish I had a bigger stomach to finish everything. I saw other tables doing KBBQ, the meats seemed to be of high quality and offers table side service. The service staff were very attentive.”

“Come here for an authentic Korean bbq experience.
This place has been a staple in Palisades for apparently 31 years, I’ve been here many times for the last 10 years, finally al getting around to writing a review.
If you’re new to kbbq, simply get their bbq combo, and that’ll be a good intro to the experience. If you’re more experienced and know what meat you like and accompanying dishes then go à la carte. They cook the meat for you and it the meat cooks relatively fast so be prepared to eat so the meat is not overcooked sitting on the grill.
Service and experience is similar to what you would get if you visited Korea. All right good spot, balanced, no fuss, and good selection of dishes to make the bbq complete.”
“Excellent Northeastern Chinese skewers spot. It’s BYOB and there’s a liquor store across the street as well as a couple blocks away. The skewers are already pre-cooked when you get them, so you just need to cook them for a minute or two longer to heat them up and get a bit of char. The egg fried rice was really solid. The cold dishes were also good—flavors and textures were spot on. The plates for the cold dishes were pretty large and felt like they were sized for 4 people or more to split. Ended up spending around $70pp.”
“Best skewer bbq ever! Have been coming here since they opened 4 years ago. And realized I haven’t left a review yet… Anyways, love the lamb skewers so so much!”
Takeout Restaurants
“The soy fried chicken and sweet/spicy chicken is so good! We got the regular tteokbokki and I like it better than a lot of the bunsik places on Broad Avenue! The service was a little off tbh, but the vibes and food were great! The liquor store is connected so you can buy your alcohol from the liquor store, no extra charge.”
“Yook92 in Palisades Park is a standout Korean BBQ spot that I’m eager to return to. I visited at 425 Grand Ave, and the clean, welcoming environment set the perfect tone for a delicious meal. I ordered the Sweet and Spicy Chicken, and it was amazing—authentic, fresh, and perfectly cooked with a balanced kiss of heat and sweetness that reminded me of home-cooked Korean flavors. The chicken was incredibly juicy and tender, and every bite carried vibrant seasoning. The staff were attentive and friendly throughout, making me feel appreciated and well taken care of without being intrusive. The overall vibe was warm and inviting, and the attention to cleanliness was evident in every corner of the dining area. Given the quality of the food, the freshness, the excellent service, and the spotless setting, I would confidently give Yook92 five stars and highly recommend it to anyone craving authentic Korean BBQ. If you’re in the area and love spicy-sweet poultry, this place is a must-visit. Would absolutely visit again to explore more menu options and relive that same comforting, homey experience.”
“Appreciation post😃 Since 4 days my freshly turned teenage daughter has been saying one thing when I ask her what you want to do on New Year’s Eve …” I want to have kudos bubble tea as the last thing I drink in 2022”. It’s been a tough few months for her and i wanted to make sure she gets her wish. So yesterday morning I called kudos. Asked when they will close for the day. They said 10pm. We scheduled all our plans in such a way that at 9pm we go and get the much anticipated bubble tea. At 9 my husband, son and daughter headed out to kudos… only to find that they have closed at 7 for a private event. This is my back story. On the other side of the story… which probably has its own back story… Cherie the owner had shut the bakery as her daughter wanted to celebrate with her friends and family. As a mother myself I can totally understand that. When she saw my family she informed them that they are closed. But when she heard we had called in morning and saw my daughters dejected face… she opened her doors. Made a quick bubble tea and even gave some extra cookies as a New Years treat. My kids came back so happy saying “mommy it was a holiday miracle!” Thank you Kudo Society Cafe. For providing us one last 2022 miracle. Thank you Cherie for understanding. We have been Kudos patrons since it was at palisades park but now we are die hard advocating neighbors of yours. Ps: pic of the cookie treat. My son ate the red velvet on way home.”
“New owner!
Very nice atmosphere, super comfortable. The food is delicious and menu is affordable for the quality of the food you are getting. My husband and I had the Agedashi Tofu, Pork Sirloin Katsu, Tuna Kimbap, and Potato Croquette. For dessert we had the Mango Bingsoo.
The bingsoo is probably the best in the area! Full of delicious mango, and syrup. It’s very tall too, so it’s a good deal.
The owner is very nice. Always provided a quick hot water refill.
It’s really very comfortable here. I could see myself sitting here for a while to just decompress. Will come back!”
“This place is on another level. I’ve eaten sushi all over, including high‑end spots in Korea and Japan, and this restaurant genuinely holds its own. The cuts were precise and matched perfectly to each type of fish. The appetizers were creative, balanced, and full of flavor.
I also have to call out the squid sashimi and octopus sashimi. Both were incredibly fresh with perfect texture. And the spicy tuna roll was one of the best I’ve had anywhere.”

“I absolutely loved the food here. it truly captures the cozy and rich flavors of authentic Korean home cooking. The staff are warm and welcoming, and the restaurant has such a comfortable, homelike vibe. I tried the soups, and every single one was delicious. If you enjoy a good mix of tender meat and fresh veggies, the stir-fried pork is a must-try. I’ve also heard their raw crab is famous among Korean diners, and I can see why! Everything here feels fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Highly recommended!”
“I visited Namhansanseong in Palisades Park and had a really great experience! The food tastes very authentic and everything was well prepared. The dishes were clean, fresh, and full of flavor, just like real Korean food. The service was also friendly and the atmosphere felt comfortable. I would definitely come back again and recommend it to anyone looking for good Korean food in Palisades Park!”
“This is a small catering business/food spot that only local koreans know about. There is no seating, so you come here to buy your food and bring it home.
They are known to have the best flavors in town. They have authentic Korean soups, meat dishes, side dishes, and more. A must try for anyone looking to bring food home to eat.
Hands down the best 잔치집 in NJ!”
“Press sandwich chain from South Korea. I have been a customer since they open many years ago. They have both sweet and savory options, their bulgogi beef and spicy chicken are my favorite. The staff has changed over the years but they have always been very friendly and service is always pretty fast. A lot of also people come here for their sweetened ice coffee, which I find to be a treat. They also offer bakery items as well as premade cold-cut sandwiches and gimbab (Korean rice roll). I recently notice them having Portuguese-style egg tarts too. It's located in the hart of downtown Palisades Park. Street parking only and sometimes it's hard to come by.”
“This eel restaurant was absolutely fantastic. The grilled eel was incredibly fresh, tender, and full of flavor, with a perfectly balanced sweet and savory sauce. You could really taste the quality of the ingredients.
The portions were generous, and the eel was grilled just right crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The side dishes were also well prepared and complemented the main dish nicely.
The atmosphere was cozy and clean, making it a great place for a relaxed meal, whether with family or friends. The staff were friendly and attentive, which made the dining experience even better.
If you’re looking for a great place to enjoy authentic Korean style grilled eel, I would highly recommend this restaurant. I’d definitely come back again.”
“People saying that this lady is rude probably have a shitty personality and speak down on her. Every time I go there she is always so sweet and even time to time give me a free kimbap. Those saying she is rude, maybe take a deep look at yourselves and maybe you will see you're the reason. I love this spot out of all the other kimbap spots and will continue going there. Just upset she closes on Mondays.”
“Korean BBQ done well and yummy. Herb wine was a nice surprise. We ate marinated steak and fluffy egg. The soup we didn’t have the stomachs for—too much food!”
“We LOVE Haru Hana - it's our go to for sushi. Their rolls are delicious, and everything comes near and ready to go. Cozy little takeout store , convenient spot, with super nice staff. They're very cool and accommodating and we really enjoy it.”

“This place serves some of the best jajangmyeon I’ve ever had. The noodles were perfectly chewy, and the black bean sauce was rich, savory, and full of deep flavor without being too heavy. You can really tell the ingredients are fresh and well balanced. Portions were generous, and the service was fast and friendly. Highly recommended if you’re craving authentic and delicious Korean-Chinese food!”
“Visit the bakery yesterday, and it was worth every dollar I spend. The Pecan cream ring tasted just how I remembered when I was a kid. I also bought one double chocolate cookie, which was amazing!! I wish I bough more. The staff was super nice and helpful. I grew up in pal park, and the bakery was always the go to spot for our desserts. Keep it going and no slacking on the deliciousness. Going back today for more cookies😁”
“Best food I’ve ever had I think they have the best food in the area and I’ve tried most pizzerias in pal park and fort Lee area there pizza is excellent there pasta and chicken parm is one of the best I’ve ever had there sauce tastes amazing and you can tell it’s homemade keep up the good work guys It’s my go to place now I order 3 times a week for my office”
“This is genuinely good Guatemalan food. We had the beef soup and ordered steak also but the portions of meat in the soup was so generous we didn’t even get too the steaks so we took them home. Service was very friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was very informal. Some guys were watching soccer on the big screen tv and others were sitting alone, no one bothered anyone. I’m definitely going back for that soup as the winter sets in harder.
Parking: It’s general street parking with meters I believe are only active on weekdays”
“To Sok Chon is a reliable spot for traditional Korean comfort food. The dishes are classic and well balanced, with familiar flavors that feel homemade rather than overly commercial. Soups and stews come out hot and satisfying, especially on a cold day, and the side dishes are fresh and thoughtfully prepared.
The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, making it a comfortable place for a simple meal without any fuss. Service is straightforward and efficient, nothing flashy, but everything you need is taken care of.
Overall, a solid choice in Palisades Park if you’re looking for authentic Korean food at a reasonable price.”
“Lived in lodi for a year, china moon was right around the corner. I really miss this place since moving, they have amazing chinese food that is very affordable and always helped me when i was too tired to cook. Meals always have several portions inside, my favorite was the house special may fun.”
“Cafe Lala is a must-visit spot, especially in the morning, when they serve their own unique version of Korean gimbap. On top of that, they offer drinks and treats you won’t easily find at other cafés.
Their signature flavored coffees are always excellent, and my personal favorites are the Einspänner, grapefruit slush, and fresh strawberry milk — all absolutely delicious. And whatever you do, don’t skip the cheesecake. It’s a must-try!
At first, the staff’s manner might come across as a little curt, but regulars know the truth: the owner and staff are total tsundere types. They may not show it openly, but they have a subtle, caring way of looking after you — and it’s oddly addictive. I’ve grown to love it so much that I actually look forward to it now.
So don’t misunderstand — give it a few visits. By the third time, you’ll probably find yourself hooked on that unique “tsundere” service too.”
“I didn't even know I liked rice cakes until I had the ones at Arirang. Rice cakes are typically dense, chewy blocks that, to me, never seemed worth the blood sugar spike. But my mom and sister have been raving about the rice cakes here for the longest time, and I finally managed to give them a try recently.
In short, they're incredible. I guess that's to be expected from a store that specializes in just one thing, but I immediately noticed a stark difference between these and the ones they sell at Asian supermarkets. Rice cakes (especially ones that have been on the shelves for some time) can be hard and tough, at worst erring toward the experience of chewing gum. Arirang's rice cakes are incredibly soft, both to the touch and in the mouth. Imagine the softest mochi-like texture giving way to a cloud of sweetness (the level of which depends on which kind of rice cake you get).
I'm a new fan of the fruit rice cakes, the likes of which I haven't seen in any other shop. The outside is powdery and tender, with a sweet, fruit filling that I found extremely moreish. My mom ordered a variety pack of red-bean filled rice cakes, which were also excellent.
The variety of rice cakes in this shop are a little overwhelming, but they're reasonably priced (especially for a specialty shop), so if you're fiending for some rice cakes - or are interested in trying them for the first time - I would absolutely recommend stopping by Arirang.
(Note: no seating space inside - takeout only)”
“I catered the food, and they did it really neatly, so we had a great party ♡The food was delicious, haha. Even if I tried to add more, they told me to stop because it was enough...there was a reason hahaha. The portion was really generous~~ I'll order it again next time +_+”

“맨날 피자속만 파먹고 끝에 잡고 먹는데는 버리고 그랬는데 고구마 치즈 바이트로 만들어 주시니까 먹고난 찌끄러기도 하나의 요리가 되요.”
“The pricing is reasonable and the quality of the fish is generally quite good. The service is attentive and the overall atmosphere is pleasant. However, I did have a bit of a rough experience after eating the raw oysters, though I felt better shortly after. Despite that, I’m giving it 4 stars because the rest of the meal and the service were excellent. I’d definitely return for the sashimi but might skip the oysters next time!”
“사장부터 직원 매우 불친절..자리를 기다리는 사람들에 대한 관리가 전혀 없고 중간 중간 여사장이나 직원이 아는 손님이 오면 중간중간에 슬쩍 끼워 놓음.한시간 이상을 기다리는 손님에 대한 기본 예의 조차 없음..”

“Biko Curry in NJ is a carb-lover’s dream 🍛 Everything is super rice-friendly and satisfying. The Seafood Curry Rice comes with big tempura shrimp, extra shrimp pieces, and squid in a rich curry topped with crispy garlic chips—very flavorful but not spicy even at medium heat. The rosé tteokbokki is creamy, cheesy, and addictive, and the Cheese Don Katsu has a great cheese pull without feeling too heavy. Fish cake soup is warm and comforting, and the DIY seaweed rice balls are fun and tasty. Overall, generous portions, great for sharing, around $25 per person, and convenient parking on the side.”

“A Korean-style donkatsu place is finally open in this area, and it has been so long overdue! The moment you walk in, the clean and modern interior sets a welcoming tone that makes it perfect for a quick lunch or a casual dinner. I tried the signature king-sized cutlet, and the portion was impressive, arriving piping hot and beautifully plated. The sauce is the real star here, offering that nostalgic, slightly sweet, and savory flavor that defines authentic K-style comfort food. Every bite delivered a satisfying crunch from the golden-brown breading, while the meat remained incredibly tender and juicy inside. I especially appreciated the traditional sides, like the light cream soup and the refreshing shredded cabbage salad, which balanced the richness of the meal perfectly. The service was prompt and attentive, ensuring that the water glasses stayed full and the food arrived shortly after ordering. It is a fantastic addition to our local dining scene, and I can already tell this will be a regular spot for my weekend cravings. Whether you are a longtime fan of the dish or trying it for the first time, this place is definitely worth a visit.”
“While eating bossam here, I asked to take the leftovers to go. At many places, when you box food after starting a meal, they usually only pack the main dish.
But here, they thoughtfully packed everything that goes with bossam — the garlic, peppers, ssamjang, shrimp paste, and even the kimchi. It may seem like a small detail, but it honestly meant a lot to me.
I know this could be inconvenient for the servers, yet they did it without hesitation. That level of care and consideration truly impressed me. Excellent service and attention to detail — I’ll definitely be coming back.”
“Okay I never leave reviews mid eating but I had to!

Shakshuka: I am absolutely SHOCKED at how good this came out. As an Arab, my expectations were that it would be basic given it’s not an Arab business. But you guys made me feel like I’m in the Middle East with this meal. Amazing taste.
French toast: got this for my wife. I never eat French toast. Just don’t like it. But this was the first time I actually loved French toast. Idk something about the creaminess of the bread. Amazing
Match: wife loved it
Banana foam latte: ehh. It was way too sweet and I’m a sweet lover. Maybe reduce the sweetness?”
“Plenty of parking, good food, good vibes.”
