“We moved to Seaside Park from NY about 18 months ago and after eating at a few places I had effectively given up on eating sushi down here at all. Just being turned off by the local offering, for a while I passed over even trying Hoshino until last night.Let me just start by saying this is the best sushi in the area, and it's not even close!It's very authentic, with focus on quality of ingredients. People who complain about the portion size/price have no idea what authentic sushi is, and should stay in their lane. If you want big floppy pieces of lower grade sashimi, Xina is right over the bridge.While waiting for our meal, we overheard a gentleman at the table next to us say this is very good sushi, that it reminds him of NYC. He isn't wrong. I have extensive experience eating at sushi restaurants in the city and Japan, and this is as close as it gets.While I had sushi my girlfriend had the beef negimaki, and it was also very good. Bonus points for putting Toro on the menu and actually having it. Too many sushi restaurants say they have Toro but then never do.If we had one complaint, it would be the wait time. It seems they only had one server and so things moved a bit slowly. However, Bill, our server, was very nice and polite despite having to run around and serve several tables at once.Moving forward there is no doubt we will be eating here frequently.“
“Just had takeout from Liu's for the first time ever tonight. We didn't even need a new place... we love our existing place.. but WOW that orange sauce is something special. Seriously great meal. They had the usual hibachi fun shinanigans and the environment was great for little kids.I ordered the tuna hibachi and it was overcooked unfortunately. But I did want to mention just so people are aware ! A dollar extra really isn't a lot of money added on my check but if a restaurants wine list says $28 for a bottle of wine and your check says $29 your ripping people off , ( if 50 people order that wine the restaurant is $50 dollars ahead. I'm just saying and next time I will mention it. ) Now listen up , The Restaurant adds the gratuity To your check so some people may not notice right away like we did. I noticed it when I saw ( Additional gratuity ) on the credit card slip. I asked my server if the restaurant made it a practice of adding a gratuity to a party of 3 She replied they add the gratuity to all checks no matter how many people are there. 1,2 3 or more. The server I asked said she tells all her guests a 15% gratuity is added. The server we had didn't mention this at all. So if you double tip they won't mention that to me this isn't honest. It's ripping people off. It's my own fault for not checking everything on my check while I was st the table it was when I got home I realized the server received 10 extra dollars over the 25% she already received. That was my mistake. We will go back because the food was great.“
