“Delicious food and excellent flavor combinations. Much of the food is meat but I absolutely recommend for vegetarians. The cauliflower mezze was extremely well-flavored, the chickpea and eggplant mezze had fantastic texture, and the oyster mushroom kebab was one of my favorite dishes I’ve ever had.“
“A cute pet-friendly cafe with a persimmon theme in Fishtown. It might be a popular spot in the neighborhood as it was busy on a Sunday morningSide note: My friend recommended me Drift Magazine for city coffee guide and I was excited to flip the physical copies there. We ordered latte and cappuccino. Very smooth coffee with a nutty espresso base. Well-frothed milk gave a creamy texture. Loved the latte art on top. The porcelain mugs and coasters they used were cute. Their pastries looked attractive to serve with coffee too.“
“Il Sorriso is a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of the city. The moment you step in, you're greeted by the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff make it the perfect spot to unwind or catch up with friends. Their espresso is bold and flavorful, and their pastries are delectable. Whether you're a coffee aficionado or just looking for a relaxing atmosphere, Il Sorriso never disappoints.“
“Absolute best bakery in Philly. Local gem run by the coolest/sweetest couple. Best bagels in the city and you can’t go wrong with anything else. Creative dairy and vegan options including the best croissants I’ve had outside of France. Get in line early if you want the goods!Vegetarian options: Amazing vegan selectionWheelchair accessibility: Accessible“
“The owners are super nice and welcoming! They are very detailed when it’s time to order. For it being my first time, I appreciated the care they gave throughout the whole process! Food was really good, as well as their milk teas! Not too sweet which was good. Will be coming back:)“
“I think this might be my favorite café on the east coast?Every once in a while I stumble upon a coffee gem randomly and that’s exactly what happened on this Philly trip.Ordered a pour over and asked the staff to make me whatever they suggest. I was not expecting to have one of the best cups of coffee I’ve ever had. When the staff mentioned, “notes of bergamot,” I didn’t take him seriously but my mind was seriously blown on the first sip. Never had that flavor in a coffee before (I drink and try a lot of coffee) and I’ve been thinking about it for the past week. Loved it so much, had to order something else. Also got a cinnamon roll because I saw people loved it. Thought it was good, but also thought it was like any other laminated pastry LOL will probably order it again though. What I loved about the staff was their knowledge and interest in coffee. In fact, I just went to a cafe in nyc hoping for the same experience. Ordered a coffee tasting flight, but got no explanation about what was from where or anything else and kept comparing it to my time at Thank You Thank You.If you love coffee, this is your spot.“
“We visited this great new coffee place in North Philadelphia on our way to New York. The fresh new owners have created a warm local coffee place that uniquely combines a fresh coffee or tea with lovely plants and other gifts. Must visit if you are in the area. We will sure be back..“
“Charming brunch spot nestled in a corner in Old City. I’d be a regular if I lived locally. Very similar to something you’d find in Alphabet City, NYC. Staff is nice and food was super fresh and flavorful, beautiful and mouth watering presentation. Rating 4 only because no non-dairy options and I was dying for coffee, and my daughter didn’t get her French toast until 4 of our party of 6 were already finished with our meals. Ordered 2 veg omelets, lox Benny, chocolate chip pancakes, blueberry pancakes, and French toast. Sorry no pics of the pancakes. Kids were too hungry. The egg dishes came out first, then the pancakes, with the French toast maybe 15-20 min later. Just need a little more attentive waitstaff but aside from that, great place to eat once you’re served!“
“Incredible service! They're super accommodating with my dairy allergy and made an incredible vegan latte. My boyfriend got the croissant and egg sandwich and said it was perfectly crispy and the eggs and sausage were fresh. Highly recommend!“
“Second time here and I love it here. Their coffees and breakfast is really good. This time I only got a coffee to go order and this time I got one of their seasonal drink. I got the ginger spice iced coffee. This turned out really good, there's so many coffees on their menu that I would really like to try. Service was great and their spot is really clean. Highly recommend coming here for some coffee!“
“Delightful visit to this bakery! The mocha cake was heavenly—moist, rich in flavor, and with the perfect balance of coffee and chocolate. Paired with their freshly brewed coffee, it was an absolute treat. Cozy ambiance and friendly staff added to the wonderful experience. A must-try spot for anyone looking for quality cakes and coffee. Highly recommend!“
“I had the early gray milk tea with pearl boba and milk foam. It was amazing and they even put it in my reusable 16oz coffee cup!The place is so clean and the gentleman behind the counter was super helpful. I will for sure be back to try other flavors.“
“Located in the heart of Chinatown, another establishment that doesn't take credit cards. Instead payment is via Venmo. So I guess that great since you don't need to pay tax. They have a limited selection of baked goods (see photos) and drinks. Menu is a bit chaotic to read (but this is Chinatown). Baked items are very fresh. Limited seating inside though. Prices are cheap for this economy.“
“Service is both friendly and kind. We ordered an oat latte and an almond milk flat white to stay. We wanted to get pastries but at the time they had none left. I guess they make them little by little throughout the day because they told us more would be ready in twenty minutes or so. The presentation and execution is lovely. And I love the minimalist aesthetic. And there were several outlets available throughout the cafe for patrons doing some work. Plus points for a spacious and clean bathroom!“
“Very nice hidden gem for a coffee or tea stop. The coffee was great. To be honest the tea was ok. So if I may give the very nice owners a suggestion; choose for very good teas like Damman or Rishi (e.g.). Then also for tea drinkers (or mixed couple as we) they will be even more worth wile to go. And btw; one teabag is probably enough. They also have some pastries, pancakes and panini. Very nice interior with lovely background music. I believe they started not long ago so we wish them good business“
“Good coffee and the baristas seem nice and approachable. Not a cafe I would hang out in, but I prefer that it's an easy and friendly grab and go spot. Lots of good drinks and snacks to come back and try. And it's not too expensive which is appreciated. Don't forget to tip too! :)“
“I came here for the first time after an otherwise hectic morning and had such a delightful experience. The coffee and quinoa bowl were delicious and I am obsessed with their HUSKEE drinkware, which is made from recycled coffee husks. Everything about this cafe—from the general vibe to the customer service to the art—makes me want to return, and I look forward to my next visit :).“
“First time there I accidentally stumbled across it because of google maps .Highly recommend I had the Oreo shake it was freaking amazing. The owner was super friendly.Such a cute place to take your kids with seating arrangements for the family .“
“For true coffee snobs this is the real deal. They care about the coffee, and take the time to make it right. The cortado was the right balance of creaminess and smooth, and on the bright side with lots of citrus for those who like that in a roast. My friends had a latte, and a strawberry matcha oatmilk latte, all reportedly delicious. Note that if you like a darker, more chocolatey roast this might not be the place for you.“
“Coming to leave a review because I mistakenly left and forgot to tip! I stopped by while getting an oil change and had my pup with me - couldn’t bring him inside so they kindly took my order and brought it out to me. Such a lovely environment and good coffee- thanks again!“
“Clean minimal shop with quality matcha products and great ice cream.Strawberry and earl grey swirl are my current go to after dinner in Chinatown, however it is a seasonal flavor so get it while you can. I’ve also had the hojicha float which was refreshing and had a deep roasted nutty flavor with an edge of bitterness. What I enjoy most about this place is the typical Asian compliment when it comes to dessert “not so sweet”.Surreal is quite trendy but I find myself becoming quickly tired of it due to amount, all the toppings, and just the overall sweetness of the ice cream whereas matcha Maiko has the perfect amount of sweetness to remind you it’s a treat but not to the point where halfway through you feel like need water or tea to tone down the sugar“
“Stopped in after a doctor's appointment to grab some breakfast. It's easy to walk by the place and not realize it's there. The service was slow but friendly. They have a really nice seating area upstairs. Lots of sun and artwork. I had a toffee nut latte which was disappointing. The espresso was burned and the latte didn't have much flavor. The bagel sandwich on the otherhand was delicious! A nice soft everything bagel with real egg and sausage. Very tasty. I will probably try it again at some point to give the coffee another shot.“
“My absolute favorite cafe in the neighborhood. They have the best tasting lattes and always have a new and inventive monthly special. My husband and I always look forward to the 1st of the month when they post their newest creation on Instagram! A huge plus is they have incredibly friendly staff.“
“really cute bubble tea/coffee establishment! i have always heard of this place but never got to check it out until recently and it's becoming one of my favorite shops. i tried the white coffee with coffee jelly and it's amazing. it definitely has a strong coffee flavor (i think vietnamese coffee), so if you're in need of a caffeine boost, i recommend coming here. i originally wanted to try the egg coffee, but they told me they didn't have it. i tried checking their online ordering system for a couple days and it seems like they haven't had it in a while. i've been enjoying egg coffee a lot recently from other places and i was a bit disappointed that they didn't have it, but i hope it comes back soon! the atmosphere is also very chill if you want to do some work or hang out with friends. overall, i recommend it and would come back soon.“
“I revisit Joy Cafe (which is the newest name/incarnation for Soy Cafe) whenever I'm in NoLibs. It always leaves me feeling incredibly healthy and happy. Soy/Joy Cafe is in my top two vegan restaurants in all of Philly. My favorite dish here is the ramen with BBQ seitan. The seitan is just so very tasty. Everything here, from the seitan, to the vegan cream cheese, is homemade. My husband gets the carrot lox sandwich which includes the housemade cream cheeze along with red onions, carrot lox, and more, on many choices of really excellent bread. Don't leave without getting a smoothie! I tend to get the Green Giant, but the Coco Loco is also really yummy. Eat in the back garden on a nice day!“
“I visited this neighborhood restaurant before. As a couple, we could only try so much of their offerings.Last night was with a large group, which turned out to be fabulous because, thanks to our sharing of all their appetizers and entrees, I had the opportunity to sample much of their menu.I would be remiss if I didn't mention the bartenders' skill and passion in mixing up any cocktail you may wish to have. The wait staff was attentive, accommodating, and professional. The food; lamb tartare, red beet carpaccio, goose/foie gras terrine, duck breast, baked fluke, spinach/ricotta gnocchi, cheddar stuffed hush puppies, double cheeseburger, and the 26oz bone-in ribeye. Everything was amazing, even the 2 desserts and cheese plate, which I only tasted because....too much. We did, for the record, ask for seconds on the duck breast, as it was simply superb. Now, I must say that the wine list, for such a fantastic food line up, was very disappointing. What you see on the menu by the glass, is what is offered by the bottle. Slim pickings. All and all, great drinks and food. Will surely be back.Cheers!“
“Absolutely amazing experience! The matcha latte was honestly the best quality I have ever tasted! All the food we ordered wasn't too sweet, and the matcha flavor itself was delicious! I was wary of a matcha overload, but it was perfect. The atmosphere is adorable too, and the matcha was in a cute green cup. I admire how even the ice cream cone wasn't the generic too-sweet cone. My kid brother loved the stuffed animals, and we will definitely come back!! ?“
“This is one of the only reviews I've ever been moved to write in my life, and I tell ya why: Chicken salad is one of those things that is take it or leave it for me 90% of the time--it rarely blows my mind; it's often too sweet or too eccentric. But when I ordered the Harper (BLT + chicken salad) on a sun dried tomato bagel from Moore Bagels, I may have shed a tear; it is PERFECT. The chicken salad is savory (as is their Waldorf version despite the addition of nuts and crans), appropriately salted, and exactly the right consistency. Add in the bacon that they fry up right there, which is thick and crispy, and you have yourself a triumph. I'm not kidding, I go OUT OF MY WAY to go to this place (I'm not a local). Oh oh OH! ANDDD!!! If you order an iced coffee, they pull COFFEE ICED CUBES FROM THE BACK SO THAT YOUR COFFEE IS NEVER WATERED DOWN! I mean...guys...get yourself over here. You will not regret it.“
“I’ve walked by this spot so many times, and it seemed every time I was hungry they were closed (closed on weekends) but today I finally stepped in. I ordered 2 bánh mìs and a Vietnamese coffee. Pete, the owner/operator of the spot was the only one there and we instantly jumped into great conversation about the music scene in Philly back in the late 90s. We ended up knowing a lot of the same people. Philly is a tight knit group. So even before eating the food I was already a fan of this spot. Pete served me his special take on Vietnamese coffee while we talked and he made the sandwiches. The iced coffee was excellent, but different and less sweet than Vietnamese coffee I’ve had in the past. He also used ice cubes made of coffee which was an added bonus for a coffee junkie like myself. After we talked for nearly 20 min, I walked home with my sandwich and WOW! Such a solid bánh mì! I told him to make it like he would make it for himself (spicy) and he knocked it out of the park. I’ll be back and I’ll be bringing all my music friends here when they are in the neighborhood. I highly encourage Olde City residents as well as Philly locals to give this place a try!“
“The food and atmosphere was remarkable. I came here Saturday and Sunday morning. The staff was soo friendly and made me feel so welcoming. The food was delicious and homemade. The homemade turkey sausages was delicious. Everything about it was amazing. I would highly recommend trying this place out. They also have outside seating and the prices are very reasonableParking: Since the place is right on market street, it can be difficult to find parking. Since I stayed at the hotel nearby, I walked to the restaurant“
“Stumbled upon this yesterday and thought It was quaint and cute so had to stop in. We got a hot chocolate and peppermint green tea which were both tasty. The green tea was definitely strong which I prefer. The hot chocolate tasted so rich and the whipped cream was the perfect addition. I also got a ham and cheese croissant which was tasty. Wish I had told the girl to heat It up, but It was good regardless. Service was fast and easy.“
“My cousin was visiting from San Francisco and she wanted to check out a local cafe. I found this one on google and took her there. We were very impressed with the drinks. They are delicious! We also ordered a snack and also very good. One person was working that day and she seems to know everybody. Definitely a local gem. I will visit again.“
“Nuanced Cafe is a whole vibe. I dined in and did about 4 hours of work; coffee and pastries were tasty, customer service was amazing, and the owner is a gem. They played jazz the whole time and I was in heaven (it wasn't too loud and I could actually hear myself think), not to mention the artwork and great selection of books they had. This is by far one of the best coffee shops I have had the pleasure of visiting. Will definitely be back!“
“I just want them to make my coffee and design my apartment ? the cappuccino is the smoothest that I've had in Philly and the decorum is exquisite. The price is very affordable for a cappuccino and it's CONSISTENTLY well made, which is rare for a coffee shop. Not to mention they're open on Christmas when everyone else is closed and I appreciate that. My 5 year old and I go and sit here for hours and write and read and laugh. It's an amazing atmosphere.“
“?Have kids? Then don’t miss the robot named Happy who will help deliver the food to your table and play music! Happy will put a smile ? on everyone. The atmosphere at Mama’s Diner is warm and inviting, even with the robot zooming around. The team working, works hard to make sure you have what you need. ?️Their breakfast options were good, and did not disappoint. The bacon, egg, and cheese on croissant is solid and filling on its own.Kid-friendliness: ✅Robot✅Ask about kids options/portions, at this time, we did not see a kids menu.“
“Really cute, clean and nicely decorated little spot. Has two diff sides. One is cafe, one is take out. Lots of pies and baked goods. I ordered the breakfast sandwich but subbed for vegan sausage. It was good but very sloppy/messy. The banana French toast was the real winner. Very tasty. Staff was really polite and friendly. We also got 2 slices of pie and a scone to go. The pecan was def the star. Very sweet and rich. Then the blueberry/apple crumb was also very decadent. And the butterscotch scone was also tasty. Can't wait to dunk it in my coffee this am!“
“Must have walked past this little cafe a dozen times going to the big corner cafe - never again! The vibe and service at Gleaners is disarmingly pleasant and the coffee was just damn good! The restaurant guys say this is the best coffee shop in the hood, they are correct“
“This is a gem, owned by a wonderful family. We've always felt welcomed, been well fed, and left happier than when we'd arrived. So thankful to live nearby!Vegetarian options: Always some great veg options on the menu, and several vegan offerings, but kitchen is well versed and can accommodate specific needs with great flavor. Always delicious and satisfying.“
“We visited Philly last month and arrived too early to check in at our airbnb, but that led us to walk around and stumble upon this little gem of a place. Great sandwiches and LOVED the mixto salad. Definitely will stop by again for lunch when we visit the area!“
“Alhamdulillah this place serves some of my favorite food and drinks in one place. We had sushi, mocktails, morrocon tea, turkish mix kebab and USA burgers, everything tasted delicious. The staff are friendly. Our family is definitely going to return.“
“The staff was really kind. The place is absolutely gorgeous and has a cozy vibe. The coffee is so delicious. The star is the giant cookies! They are buttery and soft and the chocolate flavor is pronounce but not over powering! I can’t wait to see what else they will offer!“
“One of my go-to spots for boba. Drinks are consistently good. Great tea flavor with their milk teas. I wish I could remember her name but there's one worker that it usually the one working when I come. She's been super helpful answering my questions when I'm being indecisive about my order . Location is clean but pretty small with no seating. I like that they have their menu posted off to the side so I can contemplate my order without being in the way.“
“My favorite spot to get work done, plus when i'm walking my dogs they let them come in while i order something to go and even have a treat jar! The caramel cream latte is divine and is my pick-me-up when i need one, and dont get me started on the pastries and desserts... I just tried the orange cream croissant which was unlike anything i've ever tried. They're little works of art that I like to pick up as a treat when I'm going to visit friends!“
“Forin on Coral St is my favorite lil space. The baristas here are the coolest, most down-to-earth folks who know their stuff. (Shoutout to Gab & Caleb, but seriously everyone there is a gem.) It is one of the few multi-roasters in Philly, meaning they don’t just have coffee from one roaster so there’s always delicious variety in your coffee. Not to mention, their specialty drinks are home runs every time. There’s room to sit if you want to read or book, the atmosphere and aesthetics are charming if you want to stay and chat, and the community that surrounds it is filled with some lovely humans. Definitely recommend Forin to anyone who’ll listen. You can find something for everyone, whether it be a kid-friendly hot chocolate, a nice single-origin drip for your coffee connoisseur friends, or a tasty mocha to keep you trucking through this capitalist hellscape — it’s a welcoming space for all.Dietary restrictions: So many vegan milks to choose from“
“We tried TD for the first time on Monday as my brother was at Jeff for a treatment. We had egg frittata and a breakfast sandwich--both were outstanding. But the star of the show to me at least was my iced cinnamon roll latte. I normally don't go for this type of drink because they always taste like a mouthful of sugar. This had a delicious coffee flavor with just the right balance of milk and sweetness. Obviously these types of beverages are a sweet treat but one does want to taste the coffee. The young women in there keep everything running smoothly and the atmosphere is peaceful and warm. We're happy to have found a new spot.“
“Cute tea shop with so many yummy Asian inspired desserts!! We got the sweet potato crepe cake (so yummy)!! I got a pot of oolong tea and my friend got boba. Everything came out fast, was delicious and very high quality! Prices were great I was expecting way higher! Such a cute shop, I would like to come back for high tea :)“
“It’s a great experience from the jump! As soon as you walk in Ms. Bre welcomes you with a smile and is so accommodating when it comes to her flavors! This place is such a sweet treat (pun included) to the neighborhood I grew up in. (: I look forward to many years to come!“
“We passed by the large “COFFEE” sign on rt-38 many times and finally decided to stop in. It was an EXTREMELY pleasant surprise. We had no idea such a quaint coffee shop with kind owners awaited us. The decor is beautiful with a cozy fireplace. The drinks are incredible. The dark chocolate raspberry latte is arguably the best hot coffee I’ve ever had. Next time you’re thinking of stopping at Starbucks or Dunkin, try Take 5 instead. It’s worth it.“
“Eli and the other staff members were friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu items and coffee selection! Excellent service, inviting atmosphere. I just don’t understand why they are still required to wear masks! It’s a safety issue for them! Even the CDC does not recommend them any longer! It should be a personal choice! Highly recommend menagerie otherwise!“
“Best authentic Mexican food in the area. We visit here several times a month. Love the complimentary chips! We love everything. Our favorites are: quesadilla (especially chicken or pork/pineapple). Tostadas, corn, rice!!!, veggies, burritos, chimichangas. The shrimp dishes are grossly overpriced. The other menu items are fairly priced. Drinks and desserts are great, too.“
