We were greeted and promptly taken care of by our hostesses after walking in. After our group had all arrived, we decided to order a bunch of small plates and a couple pizzas, so as not to completly engorge ourselves. We ordered the Bao Buns, Chicharron Arancini, Buffalo Cauliflower, Salmon Crudo, Truffle Friesm Goat Cheese & Bacon Pizza, and Broken Burrata Pizza. Each bite was super flavorful and delicious. Our favorites were the Buffalo Cauliflower and Arancini. Both pizzas were also super tasty. The crunch of the thin crust made it so enjoyable. We ended our night with a sliver of Tiramisu. “Definitely a five star experience!!! We arrived just before happy hour ended (4-5:30) and they were kind enough to place a quick order of oysters!!! They were super fresh and delicious... favs were west coast (sorry NJ). Next, came the Parker rolls!!! Probably my favorite part of the meal, but then again, who doesn't like homemade, freshly baked rolls with buttered top and a touch of salt!!! Because everything looked so good, we opted for a bunch of other appys to start! The New Zealand angus beef bites were served with horseradish aioli and a Parker roll, the halloumi cheese was accompanied by orange slices, prosciutto, radicchio and dehydrated olives. The octopus was spectacular... crispy with romanesco sauce, fried chickpeas, cilantro and paprika breadcrumbs. Of course, we had to also try the OHS mussel pot... with chorizo, saffron, garlic cream, sun dried tomatoes... and an herbed garlic roll on top!!! LOVED THEM ALL! It's not often that so many different, but complimentary flavors are presented in each dish!!! We could have stopped our meals there and would have been pleasantly satisfied and full! Next, we chose a couple of the sirloin sandwiches with fries, and the squid ink pasta with Calabrian chili and Meyer lemon breadcrumbs!!! All was very good. The evening was finished with 3 of their delicious desserts... the lemon meringue tart was the perfect sweet with a pucker. The molten dark chocolate cake was decadent. And the trio of gelatos were each so uniquely flavorful and delicious! Wow!!! Given that 100 steps is a BYOB, it makes everything even more affordable! Everything was fresh and very tasty. This family has been selling hot dogs in the Carteret and Rahway area since the very early 1960’s. Jimmy who is the son of the original owner, Tommy was very friendly. He couldn’t have been happier to explain his menu offerings to us, and partake in some friendly conversation. Four hot dogs with two toppings on each, an order of onion rings, and a Diet Coke was $19. There are a couple of outdoor tables to sit at, or a no frills trailer to sit in. It’s not a fancy place, but we weren’t there for fancy. We were there for some good dawgs, and we got them. We will definitely be back for more, and to try the freshly made burgers and cheesesteaks.?“

As of now, I've had Chicken Sausage Appetizers and a Steak Quesadilla. Nice wine and cocktail list. We've enjoyed their wine and cocktails on a previous visit. In December '23, I had an issue making reservations. Left two telephone messages and never received a call back. I couldn't even make a reservation on Opentable or Resy. We stopped in and informed the hostess of the issue. Anyway, we ended up eating at the bar. The Carriage House Restaurant does offer Cabaret and Murder Mystery shows.“
