First time trying this place. Compared to other local BBQs, we weren’t fans. Taste of food wasn’t that great compared to others. Service was good. Prices comparable to other bbqs in the area. Added updated menu with current prices.

I had the opportunity to eat at the Backyard BBQ on two occasions while working in the South Plainfield school District. The main person at the register was very nice and attentive. Held a great conversation. More importantly, the food was great the first time. So much so, that I had to go a second time. And the second time did not disappoint. Whenever I’m in the area again, I will be eating lunch and potentially dinner at this restaurant.

This is pretty much a walk-in but the food was excellent last time. When we've had the pork cubes they were dry. The shrimp appetizer is tasty but not worth the money. I know shrimp isnt cheap, but seems overpriced. THe $25 steak is right for the price! In the pic, I'd only cut off about 1/4 of the steak. Two of us ate it for one meal and I cut up the rest and fried it back into the rice as leftovers for three people.

Good Portuguese barbecue in huge portions. I got the BBQ Chicken and Beef Short Rib combo (plain-no sides). There was more a person could possibly eat. The chicken was excellent, but the beef short ribs were overcooked and tough. It was served in a covered aluminum tray, which unfortunately I cut myself removing the cover. I am not in this area often, but if I return, I will try something else here - maybe just the chicken by itself.

The absolute worst that I ever had in my life. I got a mix chicken and shrimp didn't put any shrimp in there. The chicken was hard burnt wasn't good at all but you live and learn never ever again place didn't even have plastic spoons. Don't waste your time or your money please. Ordered delivery from here since it had good reviews. I needed to feed a small group of people. They were incredibly helpful on the phone and recommended how much I should order for my group. I ended up getting a chicken breast and pork rib platter with salad and beans. Unfortunately the food was not very good. The chicken was so overcooked it was basically cardboard and the ribs were just OK. The salad was also mediocre and there was no dressing included. The beans were juat cannned black beans warmed up. The only saving grace of the night was that the rice was delicious but didn't make up for the rest. The "platters" were 15% meat, and the rest was fries and rice. For a BBQ place it was surpising that they only sent hot sauce with the order. I won't go back again.

I wish I could give this establishment 0 stars. I ordered take out and SPECIFICALLY requested ketchup and BBQ sauce which should have been provided. I'm appalled that a meal with fries ketchup is not offered along with the bbq sauce. They both were not in the bag. I called to let them know instead of an apology this backward a** woman proceeded to argue with me that no one asked and why would she not put in the bag if it was requested. Poor service and the food was mediocre at best. It's the responsibility of a restaurant to make sure the customer has what they need and if they didn't receive it an apology should be offered. The woman answering the phone lack customer service skills and decorum. And to make matters worse they didn't pack napkins or cutlery. SMH
