“I'm a bit of a sushi snob coming from NYC where there are many excellent authentic Japanese cuisine establishments. I often get turned off when I go to Japanese restaurants, and I hear Chinese being spoken from the staff. There was even a sushi restaurant in Ridgewood, NJ, that went as far as to play Chinese music. I thought "what desecration"! Then, when the food isn't well prepared and not representative of the Japanese, it's such a disservice and embarrassment to both cultures.Well, Sushi Ya is run by Chinese staff. Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the sashimi. It was fresh, tasty, and melted in my mouth. The presentation is decent. It would have been better if the wasabi was freshly grated and not the prepackaged concentrated kind. The accompanying salad and miso soup were simple and basic.I haven't tried the sushi with the rice nor the cooked foods. Either way, I applaud them for doing justice to the cuisine, at least with the freshness. Yes, I would definitely come back if I'm in the area again.“

“Their fried rice is unmatched! I’ve eaten at a lot of Chinese restaurants over the course of my life and I have to say this is probably the best one! Super clean and very attentive staff. This is my go to ever since I moved I to the Mt Arlington area. I drive the extra miles and even pass other Chinese restaurants just to pick up from here.“

“I come here almost every day I work in the mall, which is once or twice a weekend. The price can't be beat compared to the rest of the food court. You'll pay a half and get better, handmade food. It's all made to order, I believe. I feel like I'm eating healthier than the other options in the food court. And their spicy mayo can't be beat!! It's the most delicious sushi I've ever had.“
“Nice spot for a Chinese food or sushi. Convenient to the local hotel and all the shops. Nice cozy indoor seating and good service. Food was flavorful. The fried dumplings and beef on a stick were great appetizers. The tangerine beef was sweet and spicy delicious.“

I have gone to several places from Clifton New Jersey to this area in Byram even in PA and I have still been greatly satisfied with this being the top place that I would go to for sushi. The options are great. The food is phenomenal and I’ve become a little gluttonous when it comes to eating here. I would highly recommend for anyone.“
“me and my boyfriend come here ALL the time. last night for valentine’s day, we made a reservation for 7:30, we knew they’d be pretty busy as a amazing hot spot, especially on a night like valentine’s day. we got our apps and drinks, but as 9:00 approached, we were still waiting for our food. we live about 20 mins from there and were getting kind of tired and decided to ask to have our food packaged to go. being that at that time, they were still extremely busy, nevermind the overflow of take out orders, the staff was absolutely incredible. we could see them rushing around, but making sure to attend each table! their hard work did not go unnoticed!!!!! we felt bad about having changed our order to go, if we had made our reservation for earlier, we definitely would’ve sat and stayed. a HUGE THANK YOU TO THE AMAZING STAFF AND KITCHEN!!!!! they packed our food to go, and 2 kitchen staff came and apologized for it taking so long, we which SO understood, and didn’t want them to feel bad at all!! when we got home, we had noticed that free of charge, they gave us another round of the appetizers we ordered, FOR FREE, and also threw in a free order of shrimp dumplings that we did not order!!! i didn’t want their kind actions to go unnoticed. we thank you so much for your kindness, and can’t wait to come back again soon!!!! this place is just the best!!! never disappointed!“
