Easter brunch was incredibly underwhelming at best. Buffet was sparse, with options often empty or minimal. The food that was available was, frankly, not good. Lamb was overcooked and sinfully dry, fish options tasted "fishy" (not in the good way), waffles were undercooked, and the clam chowder was actually ham chowder, as it contained a ton of pork and no discernable shellfish. Tables were PACKED into the dining rooms, making it difficult to get to the buffet and, meaning when you sat down to attempt to eat, you had to spend most of the time staying out of the way of folks walking by your table. I spent most of my dining experience being bumped into by other guests. Our server was not especially attentive, which is never ideal, but especially during a buffet. Plates accumulated at our table and were not cleared in a timely fashion. Not only that, but the "bottomless" beverage options seemed to be a difficult concept for servers. If the glass is empty, bring a new beverage. Don't ask. It's bottomless. Bring the drinks. Or, if you're busy, put a carafe on the table. I shouldn't finish a drink and have to wait 20 minutes for the next one. Especially when you're literally timing your guests. (Everyone was given 1.5 hours to eat and get out). Don't offer something you can't execute. Now, I normally wouldn't scrutinize this hard, however, this "dining" experience came with a MANDATORY 22% gratuity. I typically would have no issue with this, however, a horribly sub par brunch experience was provided. And while we didn't see much of our server, Danielle, she was sure to let us know when we reached our "time limit" and had to leave.Maybe a weekday night dinner would be better? I don't know. But based on my experience? Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

The food, atmosphere, and service here are excellent. Whether you want a lobster roll, oysters, steak, pork, or a salad they have you covered. I'll definitely be back, especially for another glass of their peanut butter whiskey.

My family had a great birthday dinner here! All of the seafood dishes we had were excellent. There was a small mix-up where our appetizer was delivered to the wrong table and a different one was given to us- and the waitress said she let the other table keep the app but took ours away. We were disappointed to learn that the other table got a free app and we didn’t, plus we had to wait longer. Despite this I would still highly recommend, just maybe not during their busiest hours. I especially recommend the shrimp and scallop risotto, and s’mores old fashioned cocktail!

Went last night for my birthday. The scallops risotto was to die for! Best service I've seen in a long time. Will definitely return.

We just moved into town and decided to go out for a nice dinner and could not be happier with the service and food at Chesapeake tavern! My fiancée has the Scallop roll and it was fantastic! I opted for the Chesapeake burger and it was cooked to perfection! Looking forward to becoming regulars! Great job guys!

Beautiful interior, staff has varied strengths and my best recommendation is don't sit in bar area if you want a descent valued entree. We've been several times, oyster night, regular dining and always like that they offer 1/2 and full portions. This last time, All-You-Can Eat Shrimp left us hungry! Initially, the plate arrived with about 9-12 medium sized steamed shrimp with a vegetable du jour and starch. Ok, ate all that and wanted another serving of shrimp because the sides are not replenished. The next 6 shrimp were presented and again asked for more. The server asks if this was my second or third refill of shrimp. I told him second. Why? The next six arrived and we got the hint. It's NOT all you can eat SHRIMP because the server is counting the refills. Here's my final observation of the ALL YOU CAN EAT SHRIMP: as we were leaving, the cook was sitting at the bar with a heaping plate of all-you-can-eat-Shrimp and what a serving of 12+ steamed shrimp, piled high veggies and rice! Why? I'm not sure but won't be back to this pathetic establishment. There are so many restaurants near and far to be discovered and enjoyed! *BTW: I always start my reviews on the business' FACEBOOK site and just discovered that they BLOCKED me!! This alone shows they rather bury a patron than address the issue. UPDATE: Rachel, to the best of my knowledge, you are not the owner at Chesapeake Tavern. Funny to see your name and Keith's photo. LOL And to address my reviews on the restaurant FB as harassment, try not to falsify the facts. I DID address the shrimp issue with the server who shrugged off my words AND upon leaving with the young man at the hostess podium. That's what REVIEWS are, honest words to best describe our dining experience. 90% of my reviews are positive.

No... horrible place. Waitress blames the kitchen for everything you wait forever in a day to get your food delivered and it's not worth $126. For three cheeseburgers, and some god-awful garlic mac & cheese, that even my husband would not eat that was served as a kids meal. You ignored the time you're in there. It was a one and done. We learned our lesson.

Service is great. Portions are inexcusably small. Food is quite overpriced. Won't be going back.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant. The food is always delicious which is wonderful but the best thing about Chesapeake is the staff. They are such a nice group of people. Service is spot on and my husband and I are always given 5 star service. The tapas are varied and delicious. They use local farm fruits and vegetables throughout their menu. The restaurant has a cozy fireplace and a large bar. It is always clean and inviting. The bathrooms are the cleanest that I have ever seen. We always leave with a full belly and a smile. You can't ask for more than that. They deserve more than 5 stars. We have been going to Chesapeake for about 3 years now and I have always been pleased with every meal they have served.
