A (perhaps unexpected) word about fruit:
After being on the road for several days we were craving some fresh produce, and the menu indicated you could buy a small or large order of fruit. We asked for a large fruit and thought it would be a few bites for each of us (family of 4). Nope! It was approximately one metric ton of fresh pineapple, watermelon, mango, jicama, honeydew, and cantaloupe. They gave us tajin and chamoy for it. We all ate quite a bit from it and then still had some leftovers we toted around the state in our cooler. The mango was some of the juiciest and most flavorful I've ever had.”

“Stopped in with the family while on a trip to the Guadalupe Mountain National Park to watch the Texans game v the Chargers. Son and I both had burgers which were great. Daughter had the Blue Burger which she really enjoyed. Wife had sides including the grits which she loved. Service was good, refills were timely. Looks also had the churros and ice cream for dessert which they enjoyed.”

“Went there today and had no idea what I wanted, but they were super patient and friendly. Their customer service is on point. I, also, got a chance to try their chicken and waffles. Did you know they have CHICKEN AND WAFFLES?! Well they do, and they’re topped off with a sweet/spicy sauce called “besito caliente”. It’s delicious. Thank you, Tiki Tops!”

“I highly recommend Grizzly Bear’s Fudge and Lemonade!! We started coming here last summer and from day one both ladies have made us feel very welcomed answering all of our questions. They are truly the sweetest people you will ever meet! Most of the time we still don’t know what we want to drink(always try to get something different) and they always give us advice or ideas. Lemonades are made fresh and right in front of you! This is a perfect little gem in Carlsbad! If you haven’t been yet what’s stopping you! Go in and get a fresh cold iced lemonade on a hot day!!!”

“Fantastic Customer service! Tonight, we ordered subs that my hubby picked up for a late dinner at home. I ordered a Turkey melt with lettuce, tomato, white cheese only, and dry bun, no condiments. My hubby had the spicy Italian. His was good, and mine was not what I ordered. They put mayo on it. I tried to scrap it off, but it had too much. I called to let them know that they made a mistake, and the young lady asked if I wanted to talk to a manager, I hesitated and then agreed.I talked to the manager, and he wanted to remake my sandwich and deliver it. I ended up ordering the Philly with only the meat, white cheese, pepper, and onion, and he delivered it still hot and the way I ordered it. Thank you for the great customer service. I have never had this great service in Carlsbad. We highly recommend it. We have also had their pizza, and it's the way we like it. it has a nice thin crust, plenty of sauce and vegetables. I'm so happy they added green chili to the menu. 💯”

“evening to midnight treats are a treats like this only found in Carlsbad LA Pasadita is a family owned and run restaurant residing in a food truck off San Jose Blvd and I st. the gourmet style HotDogs Burgers and Mexicanized Cuisines are not the typical but well thought out and implemented with consistency and care as if you were family but without chanclas being thrown. Nachos and Mexicano Dog are my current top treats here, and the Strawberry Flan Cake at the snack shake can not be competed with as its the only place you can ordered a dessert like this and is hands down a perfect way to end the meal and sharable for two. Enjoy as they are open evenings and unobstructed sunset views are a the cherry on top.”

“Came in on a super busy day without a reservation, we were seated in about 30 minutes. The waitress was very nice and super attentive and came to our table within 10 minutes after being seated even though it was packed. I got the fettuccini with steak tips and it was so delicious and the garlic bread was great. We also got the cheese board as an app and enjoyed it. Felt it was reasonably priced for what we ordered. Compliments to the chef and the waiststaff for treating us well even though it was absolutely packed.”

“Colleen and I travel the country having barbecue in every town we can. In Carlsbad, New Mexico, we chose Red Chimney Barbecue. It was founded in 1954 and still going strong with the third generation of family, so they must be doing something right. We are eating low-carb so we started with the chef salad which was flavorful. The only critique I have for the entire dinner was That the chef salad was made with iceberg lettuce, which is so yesterday, when Romain lettuce is so much more flavorful and healthy. Onto the meat! The brisket had a very nice smoke ring, it was extremely tender and moist, even though it was very lean slices. I like that. The sauce was good, but the brisket stands on its own merit. Most barbecue places have baby back ribs, but red chimney has The more meaty spareribs. They were tender and juicy as well, not fall off the phone, but flavorful and tender. The sausage was very good as well. The menu has many interesting dishes so we will definitely be back to try some more of them. I have to say that Bree was a wonderful server and took really good care of us. The atmosphere is very nice as well. So red chimney barbecue gets five stars all the way around!”

We ordered our food and drinks, one of them being the sampler, which comes w/ onion rings, fried mushrooms, fried pickles, and mozz sticks, and jalapeño poppers. The friendly gentleman who took our order came out to the car to tell us they were out of onion rings, but would sub w/whatever else we wanted. I opted for more mushrooms. 😋 The drinks are perfectly mixed, everything came exactly as ordered, and the food was delicious.
Will DEFINITELY be coming back for more.”

I can’t lie I don’t regret it. Great customer service great food only three stars on the atmosphere but that’s just because there was one other customer when I went in and I didn’t stay, but I do have to say that the place look clean had a nice western theme to it. The food was great. The people were great. Definitely will go back if I ever come back out this way.”

“They are located inside Chili's. Parking place for pick up to the right of the restaurant. Food came out within 5 min after we checked in. We came during noon time on a Sunday. I got the apple bbq with curly fries. But the food has regular fries. Food was pretty decent.”

“Yes the wait will be long at times but trust me when I say it's worth the wait. My coffee is always on point, doesn't matter what barista is in at the time. It always taste the same and I love consistency. Keep in mind they just opened, and the coffee taste has been the same every single time. Can't say the same thing about Dunkin Donuts when they opened up here a few months ago.”

The atmosphere out back is great, and I loved the little crystal sales display inside. Our waitress was super sweet. The only thing I wish they would add is non-alcoholic beer. Athletica is a great option. More and more restaurants and bars carry non-alcoholic beers, so I was very surprised to see a new restaurant open and NOT have it. Hopefully next time we go you all will add it to the menu.”

“It's a beat up looking food truck with parking in front and a couple of picnic tables to sit and eat. The proprietor is very nice. She cooks everything fresh. Very tasty food...we had the tacos, but they have a wide variety of legit Mexican food.. If you eat at dinner time, expect to wait a bit for your food as lots of people call in and pick up. Quite a popular place. Note: There are two food trucks on the lot, Maria's is the one on the right when looking from the street.”
