I don't usually crave for pot pies...but on my way back from a day trip I decided to swing by and get a pot pie since I was in the area. I'm so glad I did. I got to the shop very close to their closing time so the choices of cooked pies were slim, luckily they had the classic chicken pot pie that I went there to try. Looking over their menu, their jambalaya balls caught my eye as well so I ordered a small order. The guy behind the counter said it would take 4-5 minutes. My order was up a little quicker and as the guy was packing it up, another guy came around the back (which I think was the owner) and offered me their last pie in the case free of charge. Free...of course I took it...It was the Gumbo pie. Note that this isn't a sit down place, so if you want to order and eat here, you will have to eat it outside their little shop, as they don't have indoor seating. They have quite a bit of pie choices, as well empanadas on their menu to choose from and also offer frozen, bake at home pies as well. Now for the food itself, to be honest, I didn't have high expectations...but was surprised how flavorful everything was. I loved the the jambalaya balls, it was crisp on the outside and filled with rice, chicken, sausage on the inside. I dipped it in their cilantro lime sour cream and it was so good. The pies were delicious as well, great filling to pie crust ratio and delicious. The pie crust was nice and flaky, even the day after. My husband really enjoyed the classic chicken pot pie and I enjoyed the unique flavors of the gumbo pie. If you haven't tried this place yet, you should...true comfort food. I will be back to try their other pies, maybe get them frozen so I have a quick weeknight dinner for the family.

I tried the place for the first time today. I bought a chicken pot pie for my kid, $12.99 out the door. It was smaller than i thought it would be. The filling was a single large piece of chicken, not cut up, with the other ingredients. Tasty but kinda pricey.

Because we're gluttons we ordered a slew of different empanadas and pot pies to share family style and there wasn't a l**** in the bunch. The pastry was flaky and all were filled with high quality, tasty ingredients. I was really impressed with the amount of chicken in the chicken pot pie - we just kelp pulling out giant chunks of chicken breast. It was as good as homemade only better because we didn't have to make it. My partner had the pork and sweet potato empanada and was in love, he said it was chock full of pork and tasted really lovely, he really enjoyed the turmeric pastry as well. The mac & cheese balls were really good too - crispy on the outside and delicious cheesy pasta inside. The cheeseburger empanada was flaky and filled with ground beef and cheese, it was delicious with the burger dipping sauce. The sesame crust around the beef and mushroom empanada was flavorful and really complimented the beef, mushroom and peas inside, oh and the peas weren't over cooked, they still had just the right bite. Honestly, the pot pies are easily enough for two people, especially if you get a side of balls and maybe a small salad. I'm a big eater and I barely finished two empanadas, one jambalaya ball (that was SO GOOD) and a mac & cheese ball. Of course we're already making plans to go again. It's a little out of the way for us but totally worth the drive. Also, while you're there, do yourself a favor and get a couple of frozen pot pies - we've got a couple in the freezer for a rainy day.

I stopped in randomly this week and was excited to try various items on the menu. I wasn't aware that pre-orders are recommended so there wasn't food up front and ready, though a few pot pie options were available shortly after. I opted for an original chicken pot pie and the chile verde with pork. I love how they label the type of meat in their pies. One had a little chicken baked onto the crust and the other a pig. They seemed a little pricey but once I realized how heavy and full they were once I got home. My husband and I couldn't finish them on our own. The chile verde was totally filled with pork! Both were really tasty. I look forward to pre-ordering next time because the empanadas sound amazing. Be advised that there isn't a place to sit and eat inside. It's strictly take-out. The staff was friendly and I was greeted immediately.

I don't care how politely you were raised, you're gonna at least cuss your momma out after one forkful of the chicken pot pie. Nothing has a right to taste this good. There will be consequences if you let this deliciousness in your life.

Got me a beef n guiness frozen pie for takeout. Darn good pie, crust had a nice lift and texture to it, and the filling was impeccably seasoned, filled the whole airbnb with wonderous smells. Huge too, so I had it for lunch the following day as well. Definitely worth checking out.

Really tasty. First had their food at their food truck and that was delicious. Only downside is that empanadas and sides are all fried so it may not settle with everyone and certainly not high on the healthy spectrum. But it was delicious and flavorful. Empanadas we’re super crispy

160% increase in COVID and these people still won't wear masks while serving customers. No, thanks. If they don't wear masks during a pandemic, I can only imagine the shortcuts they take in the kitchen when it comes to cleanliness.

Very friendly staff. empanadas crust was flaky and buttery. We tried the Cuban, beef & mushroom, and cheeseburger. they were all pretty flavorful. Try it, you won't be sorry.

Ok. I've eaten from this truck a bunch now. I really love the miso chicken and mushroom pot pie. Sadly, the last two Gumbo pot pies had no shrimp. Shrimp are cheap. These pies are 10 bucks. I wish they updated the recipe for this as its no longer as good as they were..

Oh jeez, I had high hopes for dinner from emPIEnada, especially because it is minutes from my house and I love a good pot pie/any dough with filling. I might be back to pick up a frozen one (or two)...but that's about it. My friend and I went last week. With snow in the forecast, we thought it would be good to stock up, so we ordered 4 empanadas (one as a combo deal, with a side included - we chose the 3 cheese mac 'n cheese balls) and two pot pies - one frozen (chicken) and one hot/ready to go (gumbo). Both pot pies were delicious! And super filling - one is definitely enough for two people or at least two meals for one person. As far as the balls go - sadly, we didn't get them. We should have checked the order before leaving but it took 25 minutes to be ready instead of the 10-15 they said, so we were hungry! and ready to go - we waited outside because it's such a small space for customers, but it was freezing out there. Not ideal. Had we checked the bags, we also may have noticed that we didn't get any saucs with our empanadas...which may have changed how we felt about them. Which was underwhelmed. First of all, we ordered four different kinds, but our pork and sweet potato empanada (what! could have been incredible!) was mistakenly replaced with a second chicken empanada....we are guessing they were both the chicken and waffle we ordered, but detected no hint of waffle. One seemed to be coated with powdered sugar, so at first we wondered if a blueberry pie empanada had mistakenly been included - nope, just a very sweet chicken empanada. That was weird. We really like the Cuban empnada! But the cheeseburger empanada was disappointing as well. It was basically a bunch of ground beef, without any other ingredients (that we could taste) to make it actually resemble cheeseburger. Maybe our high hopes got in the way here. Our total was $55 for all of this and since we didn't get some of what we ordered and got the wrong order for others...not great. The pot pies were good - so maybe stick to those and you'll be ok. Maybe it was just an off night...it happens.

I've eaten some of their empenadas before from the food truck but had no idea they now have a brick and mortar location! Service at the counter was great and the guy helping us was quick to give suggestions on which ones to try. We ended up with 4 empanadas and a side and has to wait about 10 minutes for them to be baked. Everything is takeout there and they even sell frozen pot pies to bake at home. The empanadas were all delish and I'll be keeping them in mind if I start craving a pot pie.
