“My partner and I stopped in here for dinner and had a wonderful experience. Julia was our server and she was an absolute delight. She had a nice little pop of tables going and handled it with ease. Large beer and wine selection. Food was very good. Definitely will go back.“

“It's not that easy to find a decent evening meal in Alexandria Bay on a Monday night late in the season. Not that many places were open, and the first three I tried were packed with noisy crowds people waiting for a table. I was walking along James Street, resigned to eating pizza when I noticed that the Homestead's interior lights were on. I almost missed it, because the antiquated neon sign overlooking the street was in darkness. The Homestead occupies an old house set far back from the street and accessible only by several steps. I decided to give it a try and received a warm greeting as soon as I entered. The interior has a comfortable old-fashioned ambience with a bar in front and a dining room further along. The soup of the day was a lobster bisque at an unbelievably low price. I ordered it and it proved to be excellent, served in a large vintage bowl. My main course order was pretty basic — Haddock and Chips. The fish was available to be done in various ways, but again I went for the traditional beer batter crust. It's a test of a good eating place to see how well the kitchen deals with this traditional dish. The Homestead passed with flying colours. The fish was beautifully prepared. I should add that the full dinner menu was varied and interesting. The bottom line as far as I'm concerned: don't believe all those snarky reviews“

Bonnie Castle Resort & Marina Pet Friendly • $$$
31 Holland St, Alexandria Bay

“Stayed here during the off season and got a great deal on a river front room with a jacuzzi tub. This place is very outdated but that does'nt bother me. The room was clean, the bed was clean and the view was great. The indoor pool was heated to the perfect temp as well. Friendly staff too. Highly recommend“

“Our little family loves Jezi's. It is a quaint little eatery with cute, hometown decor. In the summertime, I love the outdoor seating and the play area. My kids and spouse love the food. Jezi herself is always kind and welcoming. My only criticism: myself and one of my kid's are gluten/lactose intolerant. There is very little we can eat here and often I have brought us food due to this or we just don't eat. We would frequent it more often if we all could partake.“
