I was on a day trip to explore little yemen and this spot definitely delivered. It had all the things I expect from a local Yemeni spot. The service is very candid and easy going. The food was on point with all the right fixings. I got a roasted chicken with rice and a plate of okra. Highly recommended if you want a taste of yemen or youre missing home.
This place has absolutely no ambiance, its a storefront, but the food is excellent, spiced just right. We had chicken with the Yemeni national dish, Saltah, also soup and lamb stew with bread and rice. The rice was so good, citrusy flavored, that you could eat it just by itself. Dessert and tea was also good although they didn't have any of the selections on the menu and gave us something else, a creamy pudding. Service, however, was horrible. Outstanding food, value, and service. The absolute largest amount of food ever for a lunch order in decades of eating in NYC. Excellent salmon--enough for 3+ meals, 2 huge pieces of great traditional whole wheat flat bread, rice with curried veggies (and lots of okra), and salad with dressing. Three meals' worth easily for the price of one. Great taste served with love. The next best part was how inexpensive for such quantities of authentic Yemeni cuisine.
