I’m trying to figure out if this was the same Italian bakery my mother used to go to when I was a little kid in the 1950s? Was there a bakery near or in this location back then? Did it have a dark (shiny black?) storefront back in those days. Is it the one a couple of blocks away from PS 113? If it is, we absolutely loved it. We lived on Bronx Blvd, but unfortunately, moved out of da Bronx in ‘64.
I grew up eating their bread on a daily and their cookies once a week or so and it ruined almost every other Italian bakery experience for me. I still struggle to find bread that taste like theirs and having those baked goods as treats when I was growing up makes me laugh at every hipster gentrification bakery I've seen in the many years since I lived in the Bronx. Wonderful bakery. So small if you blink you will miss it .although small in size they have a great variety of baked goods , coffee is good also ..and can't beat the prices.!! The bakers are very kind and welcoming. Support your local Italian bakery .!Its the last one standing in this
